Has Joss ever disclosed how many/much episodes/storyline he has wriitten?

I wonder if he's already got a season/sequel ready to go...but I'm wondering, has he ever said he's got a certain amount done in an interview or something?

Well.. I don't think Joss has ANYTHING written.. that would be actual work.

However I am sure he has plenty of ideas in his head(no matter how vague they may be) of the overall story arc/s.

I am sure he pretty much has all the characters histories worked out,although plenty of background can always be added as needed. But what I mean is I am sure he knows what Book's secret is.. what Inara's secret is, etc. He probably also has soom general ideas of what he would like to happen after the BDM.. like what is to become of Zoe.. weither River knows even more than just about Miranda.. how and if Mal and Inara will ever come together. And he may even have some characters in his head that would eventually make their introduction. But he doesn't know every nut and bolt and doesn't have anything written.

Writing it is a matter of fleshing all these ideas out.. and I am sure lot's of things come together during that entire process.. hell.. even when filiming there are ideas and changes taht pop up even as the actors are delivering the lines. Even AFTER filming.. the editing process can drastically alter or change what was the original idea/concept.

So actually the questions would be to Joss.. What are the secrets that we have been made aware of, but haven't been revealed yet? and what is the overall "general" outline of the rest of the story?

I think someone should get Joss drunk and corner him into promising that after SOME passage of time, say another 5-10 years, if there is nothing on the horizon of a sequel or a return of the show that he will at the very least write an essay that reveals the secrets.. and the general future story arcs that he has thought of..

Of course it would never be the same as the cast showing it.. but it would be better than never knowing for sure..

Since many of the cast seems to be a big of fans of the show as we are.. I wonder if any of them have tried that.. get Joss drunk.. threaten him... blackmail him.. etc.. to get the rest of the story?

Actually I would like to know what might have been different if the story would have been presented as a continuation of the series rather than the movie. Like would Inara really have left? Would it have really been like it was in the comics? And would it have been how it was in the movie to bring her back? I have a feeling that a lot of the secondary stuff (as far as the movie was concerened, not that anything is secondary when it comes to the characters) that wasn't about River and her secret might have played out very different on the show than it did in the movie.

Well, Joss doesn’t seem to write anything out unless it’s about to be made. Over on the Buffy writing staff, whenever they were asked about a “series bible,” they always said “Joss is our bible, it’s all in his head.” And that basically seems to be true; he keeps all these various ideas and storylines up in that big brain of his. However, I do recall Jewel Staite saying that Joss has the opening scene of a sequel already all planned out. And I’m sure he’s got several storylines whizzing between his ears that he’d be glad to pour out onto paper, so he’ll be ready to go whenever word on some kind of continuation pops up. He’s probably also got some ideas about individual Firefly episodes he’d like to get done, we might see another one of those in the upcoming comics set (virtually all the Firefly episodes--except Jaynestown--originated from one of Joss’ ideas & then were expanded by whoever the writer was).

If you’re asking whether there are more unaired episode scripts, then no. “Dead or Alive” was the last commissioned script for the series. But, as I said above, Joss no doubt had plenty of ideas for other eps, which we might get to see in one form or another.

Sigh.. I liked your post and everything you mentioned.. I would be up for getting Mr. W blitzed and making him SWEAR an OATH to reveal all someday.. I hate just not knowing..,

I agree that I would rather see the BDH playing the parts, but a book or an essay would be better than nothing... and good point about the movie's input vs had the series continued cus I think you are spot on there...

well I hope Mr. W. sees your post and takes it to heart... or to the bar... or to the computer...
