Okay. I would be happily willing to give at least $100 a season. However, if you all are willing to pop over to this thread: http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=14862
and buy one of my books, I will be able to donate more. If I sell a lot of books, I will have a lot more money to donate to the cause, maybe even as much as River6213 offered. And if (wildly dreaming) I become a best-selling author, I might have more clout to help this out with. Think of buying my book as an investment in Firefly, because I love this show just as much as y'all, and I'm serious about donating more. So, yeah, think about it.

I give to you the Seeker of Serenity, the Valkyrie Warrior, the Gourmet Cook and the Truth Scoper.

$10 per "hour" - similar to new DVD prices, kinda.

23 episodes = $230.00

*And* I'll by the gorram DVD!

Greetings browncoats!

I'd happily cover $200 up front plus $200 per season if necessary. Could use the up front funds to help Sci-Fi buy sets from 20th Century Fox etc. (assuming they get smart and re-launch the show on their network - not just rebroadcast the original episodes).

I would contribute $100 per season.

But: I have seen threads where people specifically bring this up to Joss at conventions etc. and he gives them very non-committal responses. I think it is more likely that he wants some kind of mass marketing to encourage people outside the community here to see his stuff rather than a straight to DVD set (which I would gladly pay $100 to help produce as well as $40 or so retail) that would limit Firefly to us.

But again, I am in.

£65 so $100 no question. Only discovered this from serenity now very upset by the shody treatment of this fantabulous show. I don't think it was even shown in England. Now however the masses have been alerted to it's presence. There is a buzz about it in England people are gathering and they are not happy. We may have to send the SAS to kidnap Murdoch make him watch the show and admitt to his networks foolhardiness.

I would be willing to say right now $100 per season, but like many here, if this really became serious, I would be willing to put up more. I'd say one episode of Firefly is better than most movies in the theatre, so I could do $10 an episode. And I'd buy multiple copies of the DVD set once that was released. And, as mentioned, an investment deal might change things yet again. My wife's gonna think I'm gorram crazy, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I would give $100 in a heart beat!
I would even up that to $200 if that would convince Sci-fi to rectify their mistake and take on this show.
Now, I don't actually know that Sci-fi was given a choice in the original process, so I would not be passin' judgement here.
And of course, any DVDs, Soundtracks, etc would be purchased in triplicate (so's I don't have to keep lending my personal copies to new recruits).

Sci-fi missed Jake 2.0 (I've seen the unaired eps, if they had aired, it'd have had a full season), and Firefly. At least they partly fixed the second mistake...
And yet, Tripping the Rift goes on. It's a cruel, cruel world.

Somebody who understands the details of how these things happen? Or a Browncoat who knows someone who knows someone whose second cousin's father-in-law works at a TV production company?

Surely corporations are created all the time to raise money for productions. Isn't that what executive producers do? Does anyone know an executive producer? C'mon...anybody?

Questions (posted my donation earlier):

Wouldn't the logical first step be to take donations towards the publications of a season (or few episodes) of scripts? They could be published under CC liscensing, or given to donators free (and sold to further raise funds), to give us new content that we could afford, while financing Joss' vision further.

In a perfect world, we would be able to fund a five million dollar episode, but this aint that world. Pragmatically, getting a script written is the most satisfying thing I can imagine us really producing.

Sadly, our backs are going to be against the wall, starving for content, for a very long time (aside from a few comics upcoming and a possible novel). If someone really wants to run something, why not be realistic about what we could pull off? We might be able to make it worth Joss' time to invest some more life into the 'verse.

Plus, think of the ZINGERS, those glorious ZINGERS that will be at our finger tips, (course with Wash out i don't know who'll be spoutin em).

Who pulled off the variety add when serenity opened? Care to try and get the ole girl off the ground once more?

For a full season? ~22 episodes?
Or another Major motion picture?

I can and would match River 6213's $10K.
More if its in the form of an investment.

I recognize this is still a pittance for what is required, but having waited decades before seeing Star Trek return (and richly for a time), I would invest in seeing something that I (and many of you) love return soon.

Respectfully,

Heya Kids!

We are now up to $34 610 or, If I count the amount of friends and family not posting, a cool $40g.

Not Bad for aboot 24 hours.

We can definately do a whole hell of a lot better though.

I think there are two good reasons as to why we don't have 100 000 dollars right now.

1.) People keep doubting and naysaying instead of telling everyone they have shared the series with, to get on board.

2.) People think that because the money isn't real nobody will give a damn.

Well #1.) is easy to fix. BUCK UP and get moving!!!

As for #2.), I can tell you that me, walking into SciFI in person with nothing in my gorram hands to show for anything is going to get me kicked out of the studio straight jacket style. Same goes for FOX, Whedon's Agencey, Jewel Straite's estate...etc etc...

These are all places I am prepared to go. I will arm myself with friends with exp. in the legal and entertainment industry, and most importantly, YOUR COMMITMENT!!!

If I can drop a link to a forum thread with thousands, maybe even a million or two posts or commitments from loyal fans who, Not only buy firefly product, but will, out of their own pocket give a corporation money for making Firefly product availible; to a studio exec, Whedon, Universal, Scifi, Spike, what have you...There will be a market with MONEY TO BE MADE.

A sure thing on a silver platter, all they have to do is scoop up the already willing talent.

If we get them alerted to our true presence and purchasing power, we WILL have our show back, if that power is strong enough we will have it SOON.

The only thing that is stopping this from getting bigger is YOU doubting my commitment, and your lack of faith in Your POWER as a consumer.

Lets get this out to all of the People.

When we pull it off it WILL revolutionize the way TV is made in this world.

Ya know gang. This has been attempted more than once in the past. Always with the underrepresented SciFi community. The most recent attempt to pool together money to revive a show was for Star Trek Enterprise. The show was doomed because Berman and Braga had kill orders (plus they hated the genre and the fanbase).

It was a noble effort, and managed to scrape together 3 million dollars and some change. And those were REAL committed donations. Not just posted commitments from anonymous people. Nowhere near the 40 million dollars per year production budget for Enterprise.

I have no clue how it's possible to piss away 40 mil in a year making 20+ eps of a show with a handful of main cast and a ton of extras. The sets were built, CGI is becoming less expensive to make, Somehow they manage to do it.

Suffice it to say, the studios saw the fans were rising up to bring back a show most of them regarded as mediocre and misguided for the first 3 of it's 4 years on TV, and they brought in attorneys and squashed it.

End of story.

Even if you were serious about mounting an effort to raise funds for the show, the war is lost before the battle has even begun. Firefly had kill orders from the word "go". Spend your pledge money on TV Ep DVDs and the movie DVDs. Those numbers will count 100X more.

Don’t be a spoil sport I say we keep this going and see how much money we can get together. I don’t think making a pledge will stop people from buying the DVDs. At the very least where making a statement. Though is still say we should be getting money together to make a bid of the TV rights. Since none of us care about profit we could sell them to HBO or Sci-Fi at a loss and then let them worry about the production cost.

Personally? I would front $200 for the first season, $100 for each additional season (and I'd buy the DVDs). This goes for TV movie too. I am a very very poor state employee, but I spend a lot of quality time with my TV so it's worth every cent to me.

Also I could easily get another $300-500 from friends and family I have hooked.

In total: Put me and mine down for $600 for the first season. (and we will all buy the DVDs)

To all you trolls who are all 'I've already spent plenty on Joss' I have this to say: Bite me. I've spent thousands of dollars on Joss related projects and I will continue to because I love the work, I love the 'verses he creates and I respect him as an artist. I've also spent hundreds of dollars on shows related to his series (Tim Minear's constantly cancelled series, David Fury's Lost, even stupid Marti Noxon's Point Pleasant).

Love May Keep Her in the Air, But Money Get's Her Fueled!

Yeah $600 from us, we can totally do this!!

EDIT: BTW: Totally put up a post on the TV.com Firefly forums! http://www.tv.com/firefly/show/7097/forums.html

You're not going to buy rights from anyone with any amount of money you raise. Period.

The fix is in, and this is just a repeat of what has already been done for "the original" Star Trek (TOS ~ it actually succeeded the first time), Battlestar Galactica (sorry "Mormons in Space" got the kill order, but we'll bring back a very PC version of it later, scifi people need a sleeping pill), Stargate (movie was nice, TV show was great till MacGyver got tired), etcetera.

The fate of scifi is prewritten by the great god of hollywood, Monopolis. Hear our prayers Monopolis. Take our humble tithes, and let our devotions be struck down and rejected by your attorneys. Just make sure it gets great press. Let the delphian oracle at "Entertainment Tonight" spread the word. We rose, you responded. We submitted (wtg Pavlov).

Well if it were a full say 20 episode season, i'd say maybe £50.

I love to help make this a reality but somethnig like £100 for 1 season is too high. Compare it to other DVD box set prices, like 24, was selling for £45-£50. Think stargate SG1 series sell for about £35-£50.

I'd prefer to pay something like £35 quid but if it was a difference between not getting it and getting it i'd be more than willing to pay £50.
