One of our new members in NYC is looking for a Jayne hat. I remember the gal that posted last week and had pictures of Jayne hats that she makes if you know who she is could you let me know how to get in touch with her?

Thanks!

INSANITYLATER

I got mine on eBay too. I'll be wearing it in the Big Apple on Christmas Eve.. Planning a little shopping trip and staying at the Waldorf... gotta love those Hilton Hotel points, work sends me all over the place and I get the points to stay at a place I would never pay for out my pocket, at least at this stage of the game... hmm.. wonder if anyone's checked into the Waldorf=Astoria wearing a Jayne hat? I love looking out of place :)

FUNNY STORY: I wore mine to Karaoke once. The machine broke down and while it was being fixed, I jumped on stage (on a dare) with my hat on and started singing 'The Ballad of Jayne.' I was shocked in awe when I found 3 Browncoats singing along with me. Afterwards, people were asking me which track number that song was. When I told them the story of the song, they laughed and called me Jayne the whole night.

Best...Karaoke...ever!

Are you from NYC?

INSANITYLATER

Good story.. I seem to lack the proper "drunk zone" for karaoke. When I'm drunk enough to think I can do it, my legs don't work anymore and the room won't stop spinning, anything up to that is too sober for me to sing. That's usually about 5 pints of Guiness and few shots of The Glenlivet or Glenmorangie. Or about 5 Spaten Darks and few shots of Jagermeister.. depending if I'm feeling Irish or German that particular night, I have conflicting heritages. I live in Baltimore, close enough to visit NYC if the mood strikes. Once about 10 years ago I drove up for a knish and a hot dog and drove home. I used to have alot of free time.

I can make a Janye hat!! I;ve just started and have a picture of my first one if you want. I have no idea what to charge or anything but I'm looking to sell one to see how close people think it is to the show. Email me if you want to see a picture or want me to make one.

XEROGRAVITY

Here's a forgettable moment of Zen from your's truly...

I get shivers down the spine when I see Animalmother wearing that hat. As a kid I was always drawn to people who were out of the ordinary. One of my friends was from a hillbilly family who emerged from the backwoods of West Virginia. They were as odd as you can get by pure raw urban and suburban people-standards (lunch was always a rifleshot away out the nearest window). Genuinely out of sorts anywhere and everywhere they went.

One Christmas, my friend's mother (the original Ma' Kettle) wove me up an X-mas gift... one of those hats. It was a weird shade of brownish color (like purple mixed with neon black ~ not found in your typical crayon box), and it had weird bits of interwoven offcolored geometry that resembled stickpeople and letters of some sort. It probably meant something.

I see that hat I think of that gift. Strange as it may seem, it is probably the only gift I've ever received in the whole of my life that is worth remembering because it was handmade, and not store-bought. Remembering it takes me back to a weird place odder than hell, but in spite of the morbid creepiness, it's a fond memory.

No such thing as gravity. The "Earth-that-was" just sucks.
