So here it is, comfy chairs and beer abounding.
A place for a bit of chat in amonst the bustle...

Come in, take a seat, we have something to suit everyone from the Georgian style chaise for really stylish loafing to the comfiest butt-softened leather sofa's you can imagine.

Watch a movie if you wish, read a book, maybe even hold an impromptu poetry reading (though warn me first so I can leave the room) or simply waffle randomly...

It's all good.

Aww it's so nice in here!

I put my parka in the closet and my boots at the door. Sure is cold out there!

I'm pulling up a squishy chair and wrapping myself in one of those comfy soft faux fur throw things I can't afford (but I can on this thread, cos on this thread, I have money).

Also, I brought krispy kreme donuts, and their warm, and their over there next to the bean dip.

Anyone feel like tea? (although Chindi's mojitos are tempting!! But it's a work night.)

Raising Arizona rulez! One of the only Nick Cage movies I can stand!

Lovely nook you got here Seryn!!

Blasphemy! It's a shame you've never heard of Raising Arizona. Very funny/odd film. I'll not say you HAVE to go get it and see it, 'cause some object to that sort of thing, But if the majority of people from the Hidey place have seen it, like it, and quote it, Well....perhaps that's enough to pique your interest. Recommended to say the least.

Raising Arizona is one of the earliest movies by the Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan. If you liked the Big Lebowski, Fargo, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, and / or Millers Crossing, You will love Raising Arizona. I have never found a Coen brothers movie to be bad; some of them are just better than others. Should we see one of those next?
If not may I suggest Army of Darkness as a midnight movie. You really need to see this one to live a full life, over the top campy horror comedy, with a bit of Sword and Sorcery and steam punk thrown in to boot. It stars Bruce Cambell, some of you may remember him as the famous bounty hunter Brisco County Jr. he showed up occasionally on Xena episodes too. Army of Darkness is the third in the Evil Dead trilogy and the best of the three. The first one is practically a student movie, but it's still fun because Sam Raimi is a great director.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on that one. If I have to pick a xmas movie it would be Groundhogday. It has that feelgood vibe about it. Still there's 24 hours of Xmas that makes for a lot of movie time. Of course the other half would probably foist a marathon on me, most likely LoTR or Matrix, possibly even both. That is if we celebrated Xmas, my old lady is Jewish.

Hail to the king baby!

Is sipping whiskey any different to the normal sort? 'cause theres plenty of that over in the drinks cabinet, just behind the projector.

Oh! I love oh brother where art thou, and raising arizona has just been added to my dvd selection list (fingers crossed)

though I have to say, for the last several years, my christmas movies have been Amelie and the fifth element.

not particularly christmassy, but the tinsel on the telly helps.

I'm so glad that you're all enjoying your self, and in the (early) spirit of christmas...

Holiday movies... Mmmm I gotta say what about A Christmas Story? come on, it's a classic! You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!!

Otherwise I tradtionally watch the following:

Around Halloween: Buffy: Halloween
Thanksgiving: Buffy: Pangs
Christmas: I don't watch the stupid Buffy episode with the first evil and Angel all suicidal. Can't it's too lame (although at Boilsandblindingtorment.com they do an excellent version of it in stick people theater). Instead for Christmas I watch Out of Gas and The Message. Something hopeful about those two.

Also I find Club Dredd to always lift the spirits, 'Be happy in your work pear.' 'We have jungle rats?' 'Cos it's fuckin' Fashion Show Wednesday!' 'Pina-Colada-Berg!'

Also, we so need a screening of the Dark Crystal around here!!!

Whoa, it's early, did I fall asleep in my chair?

I go to bed for the night and I miss out on Army of Darkness? Oh well.

And if we're gonna talk about Coen films, might I suggest The Hudsucker Proxy? It's one of their lesser known films. It's about Tim Robbins as a dumb businessman who's hired as the president of a company (it's a scheme for the board members to get rich quick), and he ends up turning it into a powerhouse when he invents the hula hoop. It's a little slow, but it's classy as hell, and hilarious to boot.

My Christmas perennial has always been Die Hard. There's just something about "Yippie-ki-yay, motherfucker," that puts me in the holiday mood.

Well, I'm off to class for a bit. Back in a few.

So what's your breakfast drink of choice: Bloody Mary, Mimosa, Rum powered smoothy, Captn's Coffee (coffee w/ a shot of Morgan's), Screwdriver, Tequila Sunrise, or breakfast beer?

How do you want your eggs? Pancakes anyone? Machaca (breakfast of champions)? Rice Bowl ( Can billions of Asians all be wrong)? Pan Dulce?

Gone in 60 seconds was one of those I saw and thought "okay I don't need to see that again." I wasn't so dissappointed with Cage taking part in it. I was dissappointed in Robert Duvall, and not that he didn't hold up his end, rather that he took the job to begin with.

Honestly though 60 seconds was no where near the worst of Cages artistic gaffs: Kiss of Death with David Caruso, and there was something even worse with Michael Biehn that went straight to video instead of the trash like it should have. Cage got on this roll, "I'll play a crazy gangster and never need to do anything else."

Eggs over easy (with toast), please.

Anybody have some plain, black coffee? It'll wake me up. Never was too big on those fancy coffees.

Speaking of Cage: He was pretty good in The Weather Man. Sort of a depressing movie, but Cage redeemed himself a little. At least, in my eyes.
