So I finally caved-in and am going to the flanvention thanks to shiny encouragement from some nice folk here.

But all of a sudden I'm panick stricken about coming face to face with some very real and very live BDH's!!! I'm already not so good with the small talk, am famous for making a fool of myself...why the heck did I sign up for the cocktail social? Oh crumbs...

What do you other flanvention go'ers plan to talk about with our BDH's ?!?

I can already see myself getting a cocktail umbrella stuck in my nose....

Awww...just relax. Remember that they are just people.

I suppose a good starting point to talk about...Firefly? Serenity?

Ethan, now you know exactly how I felt after I bought all my tickets (AND the Sunday brunch!). I actually considered giving my tickets away because I was too nervous. But then I thought, what the heck, I'm going remember that these are just real people like me and try not to vomit on their shoes.

Plus all the other con veterans are REALLY nice and comforting...

Don't give in to your buyer's remorse!!! I think this is going to be the most fun I've ever had!!!!!

Like the others have said, you just have to remember that our BDH's are normal people like you and I. (Except the Goddess, Gina. But shes not going to be there, so its still ok)

At the cocktail party, if you feel like you can't talk with them one on one, then make sure you join a group around one of them. That way there are more fans there around you. You'll be fine.

SIMONWHO

Hmm. If I was going to vomit on one of our heroes shoes, which one would I choose?

Definitely not Jewel. She'd kick you into an engine if you ruined one of her glorious pairs of mumblymumbly designer heels. Ron would be a real gentleman about it but you'd feel so bad afterwards. Alan... yeah, Alan would be understanding. Grossed out, sure, but understanding.

Yeah, if I had to, I'd throw up on Alan Tudyk's shoes.

Okay, there's a sentence nobody really needs to hear.

Enjoy it. We all freak out a bit but you get used to them.

I'm having some of the same feelings, but trying not to give in to them.

Remember, most of the people we're going to be meeting and talking with are fellow fans, not the BDHs.

I have a couple questions in mind about details of the film. They are along the lines of, "was such-and-such your idea, or did Joss suggest you play it that way?"

In other words, technical questions about the acting art. If that doesn't work when talking to an actor, I don't have a clue what will.

Ain't about you, Jayne. It's about what they need.

Yes, they are humans just like us...and do run out of things to say..just like us.

Talk about everyday things... Not always just Firefly/Serenity..but life. For example..How crazy people are to buy a tree for x-mas this early..and literally kill themselves fighting over the last power ranger for their kid. LOL

Anything goes!

Thanks for the pep talk folks.

I'll keep telling myself they are just people..."shiny happy people" like the rest of us.

Oh and if I had to choose, I think I'd throw throw up on Nathan. It just seems like he'd wear the trauma like a badge of honor. Such a trooper...lol

Don't worry. Depending on how many people are there, you may or may not have a lot of time to talk to them. When I went to the premiere, they were so swamped with people the whole night that nobody got to talk to them for very long. I only said hi to Sean and told him that Simon was my favorite character and that was all of the time that I had with him.

I hear that the BDH's are very humble, unlike the star of another sci-fi show *cough*Shatner*cough*.
