Yesterday at work, Pastor told me I needed to go to this brunch and represent the staff and I said "I'll represent, yo!" and did the stupid chest thumping/peace sign thing they do. Pastor looked at me like I was crazy. I, on the other hand, couldn't stop laughing at myself.

*sigh* If only Piffle had been there to see me go ghetto. She would have been so proud.

Actually I am the whitest guy on Earth.

Seriously, Scottish descent, Celtic genes, natural camoflage in a snow storm. Seriously if I wear white, people can't tell where my cloths end and skin begins.

I get it all the time:
"Been out in the sun again?"

Oh and when I was a kid my parents saw fit to let me go around with an afro. Imagine it, a three year old kid skin as white as humanly possible, with a huge blonde (I used to have blonde hair, now it's turned brown) curly afro...

Edit:
Bit of punctuation, sounded like I wear white people, all Reaver like...

Scot, Irish, German, Cherokee. I think the Cherokee explains the hair. So thick the only time I've seen my scalp was back in high school when I let a dear dear skater friend shave both sides of my head. Of course, I had so much hair the rest could fall down and cover the sides. No one noticed unless I pulled it back into a top knot. Then the Cherokee really showed.

I have several guy friends who grow red facial hair, even though they usually have brown or blonde hair. Does it have something to do with the coarseness of facial hair? I don't know.

And why are the men talking about hair colour? Anyone else find this amusing?

How can you say that? I Loooove Christmas music!!

Well, not the cheesy Frosty and Rudolf stuff that they play in the stores, but the good stuff, carols and all the old classics like the Messiah and the Nutcracker that never get old. I have several big band Christmas tapes I listen to in the car. And I have some really great rock versions of old Christmas songs. Audio Adrenaline singing Little Drummer Boy and the Barenaked Ladies/Sarah McLaughlin version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.

Oh, and the hipoptatomaus song that I just think is soooooo funny. I haven't heard it on the radio yet this year, though.

Ooo... the Ladies and Sarah, I love that song too. Have you heard the Elfs Lament by the Barenaked Ladies and Michael Buble?

I'm a fan of the "old" stuff too. Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole Etc.

I like the classical stuff too. I blame my concert band background for that. The Dance of The Sugar Plum Faries, Nutcracker Suite..

We hear the Hippopotamus song at least once a day. My girls LOVE that song..

I like Sting's version of Gabriel's Message.

Honestly, if you're as dedicated to a woman as you are to your band...well, let me say, that would be one very lucky woman!!

Oooh! And what about the Trans-Siberian Orchestra! Everyone loves them.

I'm currently listening to this baroque Christmas album that someone lent me (I traded for my Veggie Tales Christmas CD, another great one for kids. It's hilarious!) Anyway, it's got this HI-LARIOUS song in German. It's just so upbeat and catchy. If I had ANY idea of the words, I'd be singing along.

Music is one of the very few things I'll actually fight about. I only listen to Christmas music from sometime in early December til Christmas itself...any more than that and I go nuts. I almost got in a fist fight once with a roommate because he kept trying to play carol of the bells on my computer and I wouldn't let him, haha.

I love a variety of musical styles, but it would be great to hear what some of my favorite bands would do on a cover. *thinks of what child is this in varying deep vox and screams accompanied by a heavy breakdown followed with double bass blast beats and insanely fast thrashy riffage*

LMD: I'm the adult leader of a youth praise band at my church and my kids are mostly into punk and whatnot. They're always trying to play stuff as loud and heavy as they can, especially our drummer, who's also my cousin.

I wish I could let them play it like they want, but the old people would all die of heart attacks, so we turn it down to a dull-ish roar.
I do love to jam, though.

I told them that if they were very well behaved next rehearsal, I'd let them play "Oi to the World" by the Vandals. (I gave in because they begged and begged.)

Also, like the blog. It's very well done.

Wow, that's awesome, CMS. I haven't found a church I'm comfortable with since I moved from Germany, unfortunately :( I miss the youth groups and the great functions. What I've missed at other churches, I think, is the genuine attitude I found at my last church.

I don't listen to punk, but hardcore was born from punk, so that's cool. I listen to everything from classical to jazz to industrial to classic rock to metal (mostly thrash) and hardcore, with plenty of other genres in between.

I'm glad you like the blog :) I did all the php and mysql for it myself (and the graphics and xhtml, obviously). So is the link to your LJ fine? :p

I just flashed back to Fozziwig's Christmas party in the Muppets Christmas Carol. Y'know, where the band's playing all baroque and classical, and Animal's starting to growl quietly.

FLOYD: If he goes, I'm goin' with him.

Then Animal finally loses it completely, and they segue right into this hard-rock/swing jazz thing. . .

Heck, the soundtrack to that movie's all the Christmas music I need.

There's something in the air today
That's good for everyone.
Yes, faith is in our hearts today,
We're shinin' like the sun.

And everyone is family,
We're having so much fun,
After all, there's only one more sleep 'til Christmas!

Hmm. . . Y'know, if I had the resources, "Bless Us All" would make a great Firefly/Serenity fanvid.

I think binary is only hot to computer people. But it's come in handy. I caught a joke on a poster once. I don't remember what it said now, but it had something to do with 10 meaning 2 and not "ten".

The weird thing about learning binary. I didn't mean to, but my friend's husband was trying to explain it to me one night. It just didn't make any sense and I was just kind of half listening. Then, one night, weeks later, I woke out of a dead sleep and suddenly, binary made perfect sense! The next time I saw the guy, I showed him how I could count and he was so proud. And then he tried to explain the binary alphabet. Still haven't figured that one out yet.

So LMD: how many times have you moved? Have you ever counted? I'm currently at 26.

Which FL college did you go to?

And only one meal a week? I'd die. I feel woozy if I go 6 or 7 hours without eating. But I'm a nibbler. I usually eat 5 or 6 times a day.

Probably right on the computer people bit...but I'm definitely a computer person so it's all good ;)

Hmm, I've never actually added up the number of times I've moved...I'm sure the number is fairly substantial, but maybe not quite 26, haha. I'll figure it out while I'm doing nothing at work today ;D

I went to a college called Full Sail Real World Education. It was a bad move. I was already registered and scheduled at a college called RIT, one of the top three schools in the country when it comes to computer science. I was dumb. It's about the biggest mistake I've ever made. RIT was even giving me about 20,000 a year to attend there (tuition was something like 28,000/yr)

I love to eat, too :) I can really pack the food away. The reason I was doing the snake thing at the time: we ate our meals in the uni's cafeteria. one day shortly after i arrived i ate there and ended up being violently ill...after that i couldn't trust eating there anymore.

Full Sail Real World Education sounds like the kind of place where they either sell you to a sweat shop in Taiwain or train you to be a merchant marine.

Though I lived in FL for 4 years, I've never heard of it.

Are you allergic to something that made you ill?

And haven't you ever heard of Ramen noodles? 10 cents a pack, the sustaning force of most college kids. I know I ate enough of them in my day.

I may have been allergic to something...I'm not sure. I have a really weak stomach. The only things I know I'm allergic to is once certain kind of medication and most beers (probably all, but I didn't get ill when I tried Guinness).

Oh, and ramen noodles, haha...we didn't have access to any way to cook food while there (I was in 9th grade at the time). We could only eat at the cafeteria and order out once on Sunday. I don't like ramen, though. I'm really picky, food-wise ;)

LIGHTMEDARK

Fair enough, Serenity ;) I'd prefer not to be ill at your party, either, haha.

I counted up the times I've moved, and it came up to 23...which also happens to be my age. I sure hope that doesn't mean I'm going to move every year for the rest of my life ;D

I'm something of a pizza fanatic. And about the black olives, that's hilarious! The only other topping I'll take on my pizza (on fairly rare occasion) besides pepperoni is black olives.

That's fine on the irish car bombs...i'm sure there will be plenty else to drink :p

CALLMESERENITY

I was up to one a year for awhile, but as an adult I've been staying put a bit longer than I have as a child. So I'm losing my average.

ORPHEUS

One thing that I think you all don't know about me?

I'm a published author. No, you can't find any of my work at Barnes & Noble or Amazon.com. No, you really don't want to read any of it. In high school I won several awards for stuff that my writing class required me to submit. I've won a couple short story awards, a nonfiction award (with a dissertation on a popular Christmas carol, no less), but somehow I've managed to win a bunch of awards for poetry. I don't know. But back to the whole published thing, supposedly there's a hardback book at some college in NC with a poem of mine about how haikus work.

Since I started college, I really haven't been inspired to write anything worth entering into any contests.

ohhh....I like this as a topic for our little scyscraper.
Sad, though 'cause I've been a pretty open book and don't know if there's anything relevant about me that I've not shared a least a little about.
Ohhh...Here's something that I've not said, but could likely have been deduced anyway.
On Letterman's "Will It Float?" game...I like the "Grinder Girl" more than the "Hola hoop Girl".
Ok, you're right, not very revealing. *ponders*....
I Used to play this Collectable Card Game, and a friend who was once our DM in her DND Game, when to work for the company, and kinda put our characters into the game. So, I'm a card.
