Yes, Legend of the Five Rings. Feudal Japan with magics and Oni and Such. I added Pics. I was from day 1 a Crab Clan player. Protecting the Empire from the horrors of the Shadowlands and getting no thanks for it.

I am just as comfortable eating with chopsticks as I am with western utensils. I'm a real man and I'll eat quiche, if it's offered.

oh, god, the challenge!

after jadehands 'I've been made into a character in a card game' reveal, anything I say is going to be a bit dull.

mmmmm...

er, ok, quantity over quality

I adore llama's, and camels.
My elbow joint used to regularly come out of its socket when I was a kid, as a result of my parents having to let me fall whenever I tripped I have loads of scars, including one on my top lip, which you can only see when I smile.
For a while I used to joke that it was a sign than Joaquin Phoenix and I should be together, as we had matching lip scars ('cept mine was all girly and delicate)
I re-read Austens Pride & Predjudice every year or so, and my desert Island discs would be 'The Fragile' by NIN 'Little Earthquakes' by Tori Amos, the Gardenstate and Amelie soundtracks and 'Captain Fantastic & the Browndirt Cowboy' by Elton John.
For some reason the song Captain fantastic... always reminds me of Mal and Jayne

good enough?

Desert island lists sounds like a good topic for the next floor of this funhouse. What do you all think? Just an idea.

Ooh, Seryn, you've just named my favorite album of all time on your desert island list...NIN's The Fragile.

Desert Island lists sounds like a good place to go for the next floor...perhaps we'll open it tomorrow?

The Fragile....Not a bad album at all. I do still, for some reason, prefer Pretty Hate Machine. I use to go to sleep listening to it in college. Might explain a bit. Of Course I couldn't survive without My Marillion collection. If I had to pick though. "Brave", "Marbles", "Script for a Jester's Tear".

Desert island disk list how long can it be? I have a lot of favorites.

Does any one mind if I put Brotherhood of the Wolf on the tube? Apologies to Seryn and Citizen if he's still around. In some parts of the US a tv is called the tube because it has a cathode ray tube. Yes I know in London it's the subway.

Me, too! I have many pairs I keep in the utensil drawer (which I think secretly drives my grandparents crazy) and I use them more often than silverware.

I also cook with chopsticks. I use them to stir stuff in a skillet or for pasta or to fluff rice when it's steaming.

Okay, now I'm hungry.

Why would you even open the pot? It let's the heat escape and takes longer.

I've turned off the binary portion of my brain. I can turn it back on if I must, but it just seems to make me an even bigger geek.

Chopsticks: love 'em. Have many. I don't use them at home as often as I do at restaurants, but that's mainly becuase I don't cook as much as I once did. I could go for some rice right now...

Ah, that's cool. I think PHM is my least favorite full length by NIN...of course, it being NIN, I still think it's fantastic. I own all of the halos (except for 12 :F)

On chopsticks, I have no idea how to use them, but I really don't eat anything that would require them. Lucky me ;D

I have to admit it was a close run between The Downward Spiral and The Fragile. The latter won out cause it had 'la mer' and 'we're in this together' on it.

I also have to admit that I tend to neglect the others, I made an effort to listen to PHM and Broken (think it was broken, will have to check) and then With Teeth came out (he released it on my birthday - what a nice man!)

edit: I decided to waffle a little more - I think I like albums like PHM and the new one because they are much clearer, compact focused and immediate - they're his most instantly engaging - you get the tune quickly, you can dance to them, they are 'songs' in the normal sense, where as TF is more of a 'soundscape' my favorite way of listening to them is in a darkened room cause I just don't want any distractions - which is why it got on my list - where else are there less distractions than on a desert island?

Waffle over!

basically, bad girl! *slaps wrist* 'will have to try harder in future'

"With Teeth"? That's the newest one eh? I remember it coming out, but I then heard nothing from it, or about it. How does it compare? I might have to give it a try.

Definately run out and pick up Marillion's "Brave". The Remastered if you can find it, cause the second disc has the "alternate ending". In the lyrics sheet, they actually print "Play it Loud, With the lights off." It is a journey. Brave is a concept album (the whole thing is one story). It's the story of a girl found wondering on the Severn Bridge who refused or was unable to speak. Planning to jump apparently, and the reasons why. The detail and layers of sounds always get me. From the fog horns to the water splashing against the rocks.

Ah, turn it back on, twg :P I'm a big fan of geek grrls.

Hey, I've found plenty of nice gals here...the problem is, of course, finding the one nice gal I'm looking for. As for me, as the thread title suggest I'm hiding nicely in plain view...so yes, i'm hiding, but in an intentionally bad fashion ;)

pictures from The Tick issue #3 "Night of a billion zillion ninjas" spring to mind. Many ninja standing shoulder to shoulder holding small branches in front of their faces. A person stops and looks at them. One states, "Move along, we are a hedge."

Yeah, that's the newest. I think it's not technically as good as previous efforts, but, regardless, I love it as much or more than many of those previous efforts. It's worth a check-out.

I'll take that advice on the Marillion album, as well, jadehand. I've listened to a few songs of theirs and have been mostly pleased ;)

Brilliant, brilliant.

You know theres a comparison of The tick t.v. series with Firefly in that 'finding serenity, space whores and whatnot'. Heavily obsessed with facial hair, monkeys, dinosaurs and Santa as evil incarnate...

my favorite bit was a quote from the tick -

'isn't sanity really a one-trick pony anyway?I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking! but when you're good and crazy...ooh hoo hoo hoo... the sky's the limit!'

yeah, With Teeth, I agree with LMD. Maybe not as good as previous efforts, but I love it to peices
Theres a gorgeous song right at the end 'right where it belongs', it seems to have stepped up to try and fill the shoes of 'Hurt' after Jonny Cash ran away with that one...

Well, WELL, worth a listen... I'd lend everyone my copy but I can't live that long with out it...

Welcome TWG! we're all nice here (though I did discover today that I can be a bit snarky, and er, provokingly smug)
please, make your self comfortable, and check out the Nook while you're at it

(sorry couldn't resist)
