Gah. What's starmix? And is haribo like the gummie bears that come in the gold pouch? Because those are the BEST gummie bears ever.

In college I was addicted to convenience store cappucinos. Those were currency for us. Bribing security guards when we missed curfew (yes, the college I went to had a curfew. And a dress code.)

yeah, thats the the same company, 'cept the gummy bears ain't so readily available in this country.
starmix is the same gummy sweet stuff, in the shape of cola bottles, bears, hearts and little eggs with foamy stuff whites and little diamond ring shaped ones - you will regularly see full grown-ups putting a ring on each finger and then taking great delight in biting them off.

I've just realised what a random combination that is, I wonder who was paid to come up with that?

lordloveyeh, a dress code? and curfew? where did you go?

I hate mornings too!

(of course, if we didn't stay up all night in chat,we might get more sleep!)

*Grabs fresh pot of coffee. Drinks most of it.*

Seryn: those sound weird. I'll have to ask for SerenityPunk to send me some next time we do our candy exchange. (I send her peanut butter m&ms and reeses peanut butter cups and kit kats and she sends me twirls and crunchies and my favourite non-chocolates-Wine gums! I loooove wine gums.)

Oh yeah, and I went to a private Christian College in Pennsylvania. www.pbu.edu if you're interested. It made university status a few years ago.

I understand that kind of thing appeals to some guys.

anyhoo.

oooh! candy exchange! I'd love to do that, I'll swap Divine chocolates (like cadbury's dairy milk, but 10x better and fairtrade to boot) or anything anybody wants for fruit roll ups, the ones that stick to the roof of your mouth, mmmm, yummy.

they did introduce similar things into the uk, but they were made and marketed as healthy, and therefor tasted like crap.

ah well.

I was remarking on the religion rather than the location. I have serious issues with dress codes and curfews. I don't like being told what to do or not being trusted to make my own decisions. I have seen good things in organised religion, but it's been in the minority. For the most part my experience has been a real bummer. CMS I can tell you are a good person and I don't want you to take any of this personally, but as a rule I don't find much happiness in churches. My spiritual foundation is secure so I'm not a pissed off atheist outside throwing brick through the stain glassed windows. My formative years tought me to stand outside the group and to question. So I guess I can be a bit of a cynical loner.

Seryn: I'd be more than happy to do a candy exchange with you, after the new year. I'll send you all the fruit roll ups you could desire. But you'll have to send me a bag of that star mix stuff you've been talking about!

SR: I chose to go to that school. My parents thought I was nuts, but it's where I wanted to go. And for the most part, I LOVED it. It was one of those "best of times/worse of times" experiences. It wasn't an all girls' school, there were no uniforms, it had a fantastic music progam (that I hated, but it was fantastic) and I made some of the best friends of my life there. I got a very high quality education for the two years I was there.
I knew the rules before I got there, and, being one of those people that have a hard time accepting authority, I found ways around the ones I didn't like.

Also, a church is nothing more than a group of people. A body of believers. Every church, every denomination is different. If a church is unhealthy, it's because that group of people has made it that was. The system is perfect, but we aren't.

Now, I'm having a bad day. If no one minds, I'm going to grab this blanket and this pillow and curl up by the fire and and sleep until Christmas morning.

I love your way of putting that, CMS. It is too bad that people just aren't good enough to make it work, generally. I still long to find another good congregation.

Oh, I'm feeling much better today. Yesterday morning was icky and the rest of the day was busy.

But I came home from work and had presents and cards waiting for me and had a nice night. Got a bit of sleep, and I've decided to just give in and live off chocolate chip cookies until Christmas since it's what I really want anyway.

So, I'll gladly accept the hot chocolate, but I'll trade the marshmallows for a cinnamon stick to stir it with (never been a big mallow fan.) And I'll TRY to stay awake and amuse you all with my antics for a few more days.

SR: you aren't a kill joy. And we have rules against drowning in the pool. It is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN so don't even think about it.

I'm listening to the Messiah. Always makes me happy.

OH! And for those of you who don't read my lj, I had a new cousin (of the 2nd variety) born just a few hours ago. Her name was very nearly Serenity, but they chose Temperance instead (and while you may find this shocking, I'm relieved. I didn't want the baby to have my name.) Temperance Morgan. (ugh!) Haven't seen pics yet. But apparently mom, baby et. al are doing fine. So yay-ish.

Is it getting hot in here or is it just me?
Steam floats of the middle of the pool. Scorpion Regent climbs out of pool, wanders, dripping, into the center of the nook, shakes himself dry as would a large dog. He then saunters over to the bar pours himself a tall rootbeer on the rocks and mixes in a shot of vodka. Walks up behind Seryns chair and gently begins massaging her stiff neck.

Seryn : Sorry if my left hand is cold from the drink.

CMS: Thanks for the I have learned my lesson. Next time I have nothing good to say I'll just order a stiff drink and hold my peace.

Good morning all you crazies!

I think I just may survive this week. Wasn't sure for a bit there, it was touch and go.

I'm in a rum-my sort of mood today so will someone make me something fun with rum in it?

I have a staff Christmas lunch later on and then I'm going to attempt to NOT kill the copier for the remainder of the day. Sounds like fun, no?

Also: I now know what zoo animals feel like. It's so cold in the church that I keep my office door closed to trap as much heat as I can. So people like to walk by and peek in the window. They don't open the door or knock, they just peek. It makes me feel like I'm on display. Raaaahther annoying, really. (say that last bit in an affected british accent.)

And finally to anyone I may have missed yesterday, and to everyone I didn't miss, because it's Christmas and I'm high on cookies.

Survival=good.
I only know Rum and Coke. It's all I've ever needed to know. Maybe someone else knows something more "fun".
Honestly, that's the most challenging thing in the world, trying to NOT kill.

I need to know what you want before i start. Sweet, fruity, creamy, complex, simple, savory, smooth, get me drunk and take away my pain. What?

well, I just broke the habit of a lifetime and instead of brandy or whiskey, I bought a bottle of Morgans Spiced - darkish rum with all sorts of spices in it, i'm now sat drinking some and listening to The Cure and i'm a very happy bunny.

(hmmmm, theres something wrong with that picture - drinking alone and listening to The Cure...)

Why SR, what aaare you talking about?

(giggle, eyelash fluttering etc. etc...)

So anybody fancy a glass of spiced rum?

Silly SR! You mixed up the threads! No wonder I was confused (it's sooooo easy to do!)

Anyway, if those are my options, I choose complex, because I know I like drinks with "layers". (Where's Ash to laugh at my joke when I need her?)

Morgans goes with lot's of things, coke, coffee, rocks, citrus juices, in the blender with ice cream, bannanas, and a splash of Kalua.

Seryn: Well that is a interesting question you pose there. What do you want me to mean. A man might get a powerful suspicion and I wouldn't want to take liberties, unless of course, your desires dictate else wise.

You're such a flirt!

well, i'll file that whole 'taking liberties' statement away for my future use, and i'll have one of those ice-creamy kalua ones that you were just speaking of,

sounds just too yummy for words.

Anybody feel its time for a new nook?

Not layer layers, but flavour layers. When you drink something and first you taste one thing and then another and another and then finally another. I like foods that do that, too.

Okay into the blender goes a small blob of french vanilla ice cream followed by a blob of coffee ice cream, a shot of kalua, a shot of morgans, a measure of non fat milk (it does have to pour eventually) add a small very ripe bannana. If you want to make it a liquid lunch add a raw egg and some protien powder. If you want more of a punch, substitute a extra shot or two of rum for the milk.

FYI you can turn normal dark rum into spiced rum by adding vanilla extract, cinamon, and some molasses. It takes a while for the molasses to dissolve. If you are impatient add brown sugar. The longer you wait the more the sugar or molasses will turn to alcohol.

ooooh, a challenge. Alll right this is going to be rather artistic in that it maybe really cool or it may experience some turbulence and then explode.
into the blender one or two shots white rum, a spoonful of orange juice concentrate (still frozen), eight chunks of pineapple, a splash of guava juice, half of a small ripe bannana, a fraction of a pinch of cinnamon powder, add two cups of ice cubes, a splash of cointreu and a dash of grenadine. blend until the ice has liquified.
