Is this a joke?

I can't imagine there's a way to get away with something like this and not run up against a wall of lawyers. Also it's just fanfic anyway. Just write it up and put it on the web.

It leads to plenty of questions though. Who do you have to play Han Solo? What about Chewie? Lando? Are there going to be other aliens in the movie? CGI or costumes? Do you really think you'll get enough funding for such a large project?

Anyway good luck if this is real. Anyone have any word on this from Adam himself?

This is of course a fake, the description of this thing is utter bullshit.

I think a litte Star Wars troll tried to make some wind here but ended up with a pitiful cold fart.

I get the feeling you just want to force the fans to donate for a thing that doesn't exist. Can you offer any valid prove that this project is real? Seems a lot like some sort of fishing to me at this point.

If you don't have anything true to say then keep it to yourself.

Thank you for posting this. I've seen one or two Star Wars fanfilms, and I understand the lengths some will go to in making them. Please don't get too upset at the legitimate (though perhaps poorly phrased) concerns expressed by others responding to your post. Sometimes a thing just seemed too good to be true, and some will assume the worst automatically.

How can anything fit seemlessly into the star wars universe? First off, it's absolutely huge. Second, it's full of contradictions. You either have to avoid them like land mines or choose one side.

Why exactly would Adam Baldwin agree to work on a project like this? Unless he's playing a small cameo role and is doing this for the fans, I just can't see it. Adam is a great guy. So, I could see him doing something for his fans, but are his fans really big in the star wars universe?

Adam is a big poster online. Until we hear something about this from him. I'm crying shenanigans. I'll happily eat crow if I'm wrong.

P.S. love the nice official looking gmail account there. Really gives a sense of professionalism. What can I say? I'm just a good man. Well I'm alright.

Lucas often gives folks permissions to do certain things, especially fanfilms. There's a whole website that is dedicated to Star Wars fanfilms actually, and awards are given to the best ones by Lucas himself. Don't jump to conclusions until you can either prove or disprove this. As the guy said, all of this just happened recently, and I'm sure if Adam really does go online and post stuff, he'll do so when he gets the chance. If he has just signed the dotted line, then we might not hear about it for a little while at least. If this is for real, then I think it's a great opportunity for his fans to get involved.

Why don't you just answer our questions to sort things out?

What were your previous projects?
Why would Adam Baldwin participate?
Any comment on that "professional" google mail adress?
How did you come in contact with a 40 men orchester and the stunt guy from Blade III?
Any comment on your budget for all this?
Any comment on the companies your are working with?
Any comments on your sponsors?
Where is the studio, where do you get your equipment from?

Before you answer at least a few of this I'll stick to the troll theory for the time being. If it's true what you claim all these questions must be a piece of cake for you to answer.

There are copyright laws provision that allow for parody. He can't sue if it is a parody. Does anyone remembers Weird Al's parody of "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio? Coolio was mad about it but couldn't sue (if he could he would have, unless he was lying.) So this so called film sounds like a way to take money from people that seem to want spend money from something they like. I would not pay any money with out a contract and a lawyer present. Thgis way you know that you know aren't acting blindly and with a whole world of stupidity.

First of all, I have to say that a few weeks ago, I was at a friend of mine's Film convention(FilmCon for any of you who might be familiar with it) and I sat in on a panel that Achilles was holding, about this project that he is working on. I was completely blown away by all of the thought process that was being put into this and all the effort, time and money he is going to and has invested into it. I can attest to the fact that this is a very real project that he is working on and I think it is very admirable that he was able to get Adam Baldwin for the part of Dash Rendar. I can understand how people might have some concerns about this and how people would wonder why Adam would even consider doing a fanfilm, but I think that rather than bashing Achilles and throwing around accusations, people should see him for the talent and 'lucky' individual that he is. So, good luck Achilles on this project!!

I'm usually quick to call "troll!", but this looks legit. The website is pretty detailed, and Adam has done small projects in the past (anyone know about the "Dance Party" thing he did, playing a goofy cop?). So I believe you.

But our fandom is filled with trolls as of late. Try not to feel bad about people not believing you. Adam will confirm it if it's true sooner or later, and then folks will stop worring so much.

Good luck! Looks like you're making a dream come true for yourself.

You are correct in that statement, however not all of the films I'm referring to are parodies...some of them are additions to his regular story line that a fan wants to develop. He does welcome those ideas and has to give approval on some things because of copyright laws. I know how some people feel about George Lucas, but he remembers that he started out as a small time independent film maker and promotes others who are really trying.

I used to work in the entertainment industry for a time and I do understand how a lot of this works. I applaud Achilles and his efforts, for this is not an easy feat. And if Adam has signed on, then even better. Perhaps he's thinking, "gee, why not...might be fun."

I have to admit, I originally thought troll (trolls around here are typically creative in their trolling, so apologies for that) when I read the initial post, but I poked around fanfilms at the JC a bit and looked at the website provided and all I have to say is... impressive!

The only worrying thing about it is if you're planning on generating the money for Adam's fee from the sale of the packages on the site (meeting the cast etc). It's a lot of money - do you have a contingency plan?
(If I'm totally wrong about that ignore me, that was just the impression I got from reading though the 'Help Needed' thread at the JC forums.)

LOL. Registered today. Posted today. This is the only post ever of this guy. I think Achilles registeres secondary accounts to back his lie. Or he has told some good friend what's going on here.

You say you don't have to prove anything? Wrong answer if you want support of any kind.

EDIT: One other thing: Why would you call it Episode III if there already is one?

EDIT 2: I googled around a bit and there is no other mention of this anywhere besides the "official" website. And I didn't find a single word indicating that Mark Twitchell is connected to the movie business in any way. Something smells funny here... Especially there is no mention on any Star Wars page or forum as far as I can tell. That would be the first place something shows up. There is a "Dash Rendar" in Star Star Wars though.

I just found about this through the Edmonton FF forums.
http://boards.theforce.net/edmonton_ab/b10363/20208619/p1/?256
As someone who has been involved in Star Wars fanfilms in the Toronto area I know how much of an undertaking this is.

The Adam thing blew me away and I can see how people are skeptical.

I wish I was closer as I would love to help out. I have helped build sets and props for a student theatre show for over 14 years.

I am the Toronto FF chapter CR and I have 2 finished full size RC astromech droids. I have been modelling for over 20 years so full size props are no problem.

I don't post much here either but that doesn't make me a fake.

If you don't believe that I have a full size droid you can check out my web site for my droids, my models and another project I am working on.

Stop being such a jerk. He doesn't have to explain himself. And yet he did, politely, without being defensive or rude (can you say the same?).

He's calling it Episode 3 and a parsec. Several other fan-films set between episodes have used simmilar titles - Episode 2.5 and such.

And those who make fan-film, generally speaking aren't deeply connected to hollywood. It's generally a relative amature, looking to put together a project that shows their skills, set in a world they deeply enjoy. Think of it as a video calling-card.

So just back off the guy. If you're not interested, stop posting to the thread. Walk away, easy as that. He's not banging on your front door asking for cash. He put the info out, answered questions civily, and will go about his business with or without your support.

But all your troll accusations are turning you into the troll.

You can go about your business. Move along.

Honestly I exaggerated a lot here to make sure Achilles can clearly understand the suspicion he arouse among the more sceptical ones (including me, obviously). I wanted to push him a little to give us the full picture here and it worked - we got some illuminative answers he should have told us the first place.

I'm still having my doubts though, but I'll keep them to myself until I see some Screencaps, Footage, trailer or whatever of this thing.

I don't see it as a waste of money at all.

I'm currently working with a group of people that in the process of making a Firefly Fanfilm/Series. We're doing it out of the love of the series, not to make money.

We're not going to sell the movie or anything. Non of the people working on this are going to be paid. We just want to tell a great story that adds to the show.

Think of it as a Fanfic.... only with moving pictures.

I tend to agree to an extent. I would not put that much effort into something I couldn't conceivably make money on.

However, most movies, shorts or features, made at this level don't make any money anyway. So, if this is intended as a "director's calling card" type of movie, Star Wars is as good as any subject.

There have even been working professional directors who've played this game. The short film Batman: Dead End (Batman vs. Alien vs. Predator) was made by a commercial director.

And I have heard from other directors of high-end fan-films that doing a Star Wars movie is exactly how they got so many people involved. If they had been doing something original, not as many people would have volunteered to help. I don't know that that's the story with this film, but I'd bet that has a bit to do with it. I know there's a lot of Star Wars bashers on this site, but there are a LOT of SW fans out there. In terms of this generation of filmmakers, probably 3/4 of them will say they got into film because of SW.

I also question the "buying" of a camera. Who will own it when it's done? I'd love to get people to donate so I can buy myself new equipment but I just can't bring myself to do it. We own high end gear purchased ourselves but for an upcoming project, we're budgeting the rental of newer stuff for the shoot. Much better way to go these days now that the technology is changing so fast.

I agree with that. Most of my stuff I've shot on my own consumer-grade cam. For the last one, we borrowed a prosumer-grade cam. For the next one, we'll own a HD 24p camera. I would lean toward rental myself, but my production partner has been saving for years, and really has his heart set on it. And I get to use it for free, so who am I to argue?

Free camera use is always good :) I've seriously considering getting a new HD cam, but when I looked at the cost vs renting, and also considered that for now anyway, there's no effective way to deliver the content in HD I decided it's much better to wait until the technology matures and just rent.

Hello everyone again.

I need to make an update on this and a correction. I apologize for jumping the gun but I've been in contact with Steve Siebert, Adams agent and it seems we've had a miscommunication.

When my offer was agreed upon I was under the impression that we were good to go which is why I began this thread in the first place. It seems though that I was mistaken about the level of agreement we had reached. I will therefore act responsibly and remove any info in this thread regarding the matter.

I will post more information when and if it becomes available. For now, keep the faith and thank you for all your kind words of encouragment.
