I personal love the idea and would support it in Graphic Novel Form they seem to be a bit better bound and last longer than regular comics.

Don't squat with your spurs on.

I was just thinking about this and when I checked out the site today, there was your post. It's a good idea it could definitely work. Maybe it would popularize Firefly enough that we could get a movie or two out of it.

seriously, joss has experience in comics. His series Fray was on of the best last year (ofcourse he hasnt finished it yet).
Firefly as a Comic would be a real fun way for him to finish his story.

Here's more or less what someone else had to say on the subject of a FF comic on another board. as well as the link to the site running this effort. http://www.immantcreative.com/fireflysos/comics.htm

Even if you don't like comics, you should still support the FF to comic effort, here's why...

1) You MIGHT like it... when the first issue comes out you can pick it up, give it a try, and in the worst case secerio, you're out a whole $3. On the other hand you might like it.

2) FF isn't coming to TV anytime soon. This isn't going to hurt the chance for FF's return. Buffy has a comic, and it's still on TV.

3) A good selling comic might help drum up some more support for FF. (Look at all the comics turning into movies lately...) Maybe generate some novels, or possibly merchandise (tshirts etc).

4) FF's story deserves to be told. If comics is the only way that can get done then so be it. People here seen quick to point a finger at FOX and say how bad they are for not airing 'quality tv', yet here's a medium that FF has a shot in and people are cold shouldering it.

5) There are FF fans who DO like comics, and as part of, what I think is a close-knit community, you would, at the BARE minimum, being doing them a HUGE favor. It only takes 3-5 minutes to post a quick message on Dark Horse's board, and it's of course free.

6) Other than a movie, it's probably the only chance we have of more FF, and for the moment at least, it's the ONLY chance of getting all of our questions answered (be realistic, could a 2hr movie answer all of the mysteries and still be entertaining at the same time?). would you rather read all the screts of firefly in some random internet post by the creators someday, or see the story in a fun easy to read little comic book?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I added my voice to the throng awhile ago when I saw the thread over at the official site. Looks like a pretty good idea.

I don't really collect comics anymore, though I do go into the store once a month or so to look over the rack. I still pick up the occasional book. I would most definitely buy a Firefly graphic novel or comic book.

I'd also like to add, that Joss recently said he hasnt given up on Firefly. and getting a comic published could be what he has in mind. even if he's working on something like a movie, this effort would be a big help to him.

What a fabulous idea! I want! I want! I need! I need!

I never really read comics until I got into Fray. It's clear that Joss Whedon has a real talent for the comic medium. I've loved what he did with Tales of the Slayers, and fankly, the suspence on Fray is killing me. If it would do any good, I would gladly make goat sacrifices to my Joss Whedon altar if he would grace us all with a FF graphic novel. Or better yet, a perminant series, writen by the origninal FF writers. Because the people they've got writing the monthly Buffy comic suck rotten toad ass. Regardless, I'll buy anything with the word "Firefly" on it, because I'm hopelessly addicted, and I need my fix any way I can get it. I'm going through withdrawl! It hurts! Whaaaaa!

I need to go take my medication now... Where's my stuffed dinosaur? Dina... where are you?

great only takes a few moments to sign up!
I'd love to see how joss would answer all the questions of Firefly. and of course a firefly comic would surely be a best seller, that could help us get a movie or mini series one day. as Tv shows and movies based on comics are really hot these days!
