One possible media that I haven't found discussed anywhere is audio.
For continuing our ability to inhabit the Serenity verse, it would have cost & ease of production advantages over film and even comics.
We don't have much serial radio here, but the BBC successfully does Dr.WHO this way; and now there is podcasting too. It would give something to focus on, keeping the fans together.
Production costs should be low enough to pay the cast (and Joss) and fund the next one, especially if it was a subscription thing- in theory at least.
If you only listen to any Firefly episode, they really carry the storyline well, the mind fills in the visuals. Its not video, but its something!:]

Is this something to root for?

I think it would be a great idea! Since I commute to college, I have recently become addicted to audiobooks to help pass the time on ye olde Beltway.

No power in the 'verse can stop me!

Why not. If the cast stays the same that could be a nice alternative.

The downside is that many Europeans would have to import it from the UK or - even more expensive - directly from the states if they want to hear the voices from the actors and not an awful translation.
