Just watched the DVD for like the 5th time, and in listening to the last words in the film, I'm wondering who said them.

Initially, I thought it was Mal. But, the last time I watched the DVD, I listened more closely, and it sounds like Wash.

So, who is it?

I'm thinking it was the ghost of Wash!

I'm pretty sure it was Alan Tudyk's voice.

Well, it was Alan Tudyk playing Mal...

You all have got me wondering about it now...I'll have to check it out when I get home from work this morning.

I'm pretty sure it was Mal. It sounded like Nathan to me. I'll have to check when I get the DVD from Amazon (can't wait for the Australian release though)

Aww - that would be so sweet!
The thought that Wash is still with Serenity... er, even though he's dead.

I guess that lives up the the phrase - 'Once you're in Serenity...'.
[ok, you guys caught me - paraphrasing...]
I know it was about Serenity Valley - but could it be true for the ship?

It'd be nice thinking Wash was looking after them.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I never had any reason to suspect it was anyone but Nathan, but I just listened to it again through headphones. There is no doubt in my mind that it is Nathan.

I *really* think that it was Alan Tudyk, but it doesn't really provide symmetry with the beginning since in the beginning, Mal says it. It sounds a *lot* like Alan Tudyk, though; if it was him, I bet the message is: Yeah, the movie might've been a little dark, but don't worry, we aren't taking ourselves too seriously yet ;).

"See, morbid and creepifying, I got no problem with, long as she does it quiet-like."

THOLO

I know it is sci fi but if we have a katra, a new planet, a clone solution, or something really gay, then I may have to re-think my Firefly/Serenity fan love. The whole thing about this verse was that it was kinda "real". That is why I enjoyed it. I know there is techo advances and all, but if someone was hurt the Dr. didnt just wave a lighted pen and all was ok. Ya know, it took a little know how to fix injuries and such. If Wash is dead then Wash is dead. His life was worth something, he helped speak for the 30 million people on Mirianda(sp)and expose the Alliance. It was not empty like so many other deaths in other sci fi. I will miss him, but it also grounds the verse in reality.

What I feel needs to happen is another character that is like Wash. Same type of humor, may not a pilot, River would be good for that. Maybe another relious character like Book. (Catholic Priests have been known to be funny.) Maybe another shepard type character with Wash humor.

Well these are my feelings towards the whole Wash situation. I miss him very much, but he is really not gone as long as we remember him.

I am a leaf on the wind!

Was I the first person to bring this up? Maybe it's nothing. I'm just curious as to who it is.

Anyone from actual production around to comment?

I'm generally good at voices, but I can't be sure. It could be either Mal or Wash. But, the last time I heard it, I thought it was Wash.

What do I know?

For what it's worth, in the script, that line is Mal's.

"Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle."

You can't take the Wash from me

"The people who made the show, and the people who saw the show, which is roughly the same number of people, fell in love with it, a little bit too much to let it go, too much to lay down arms when when the battle looked pretty much lost. In Hollywood, people like that are called unrealistic, quixotic, obsessive... In my world, they're called Browncoats."

I'm not sure whose opinion is going to satisfy you, but as I stated before there is no way that voice is anyone else's but Nathan's.

Hi cartoon,

Can you edit the subject of your original post and put spoiler in it.

Please! Just in case. I have given some people Firefly and Serenity for Christmas and they may get online before they watch Serenity.

IMO (In My Opinion), it was Mal's voice.

Also, if you watched Firefly and Serenity carefully, you will see that River can hear ghosts. The crew comes across a ship dead in space and River says "Ghosts". There is a part in Serenity where River hears ghosts or maybe she hears the ghosts not saying anything.

Hmm... most peculiar.

I edited the post, and it appears correctly HERE, but not on the main page where the threads are listed.

Does anyone know how I can change it, so it appears in the threads listing?

Thank you.

I think it just takes a while for the pages to sync up. Note it shows up when you bring up the post.

I added VA for Virginia to my Showings of Serenity post and it took a while to show up too. But it is there now for my post.

Actually the voice was Joss digital decremented to sound "deep". "What was that?" is a metaphor referring to the success of the DVD sales and movie. And the future looks bright! Yay!

Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,

Cartoon, try editing your first post subject again. I'm thinking maybe I had to do it twice.

See I had to edit and change 1 letter in the subject again to get it to update on the home page or discussion community

now it says Tuesday, December 27, 2005 19:55 - 7 posts (2 today).
13th week of Serenity: ID MN OR UT VA! Dec. 30th ****Over 91 days!****

I was curious about the line too, so I turned the subtitles on. It's Mal.

Assuming that the subtitles aren't all part of some devious Alliance plot to implicate Mal in some nefarious scheme to further tarnish his reputation -- !!

Or, as you said, it could just be Mal, plain and simple.

Has to be Mal because he is the one who ask about the part that falls off at the start.
