Considering the time flow of the climax of SERENITY... very little time passes between the crash and the appearance of the Alliance troops deep in the media complex. They would have reached Wash in the hangar sooner, and Reavers ignore bodies.
If Verse medtech can scoop out insides and replace them, etc, Wash's injuries need not be fatal. Medics only needed to reach him in 6-8 minutes... something like that. But why keep it a secret?

just a thought-

And also why would they save him when there are reavers everywhere and they're trying to kill the crew of Serenity?

Oh and please change the title of your thread - crazy as it might sound, some people haven't seen the movie as they're in countries which didn't see a cinema release and haven't had the DVD yet.

Hi Simon-
well, I'd assume the troopers have medics along with them, and their SOP is saving lives. They await orders to shoot, so I'd say their mission is still capturing the crew.
I've seen Wash discussed at length on many threads, I'd say the secret is out.

If you can suggest another title that'd work, I'd be happy to change it, tho...

Or, we could just accept that in the 'verse, Wash is dead. Honestly, what's all the whinging about? Beloved character, etcetera, but man--who are we to question Joss over HIS choices for HIS world?

Thanks for the spoilers IN THE RUTTIN' TITLE, you thoughtless clod.

I'm a newbie, have just watched the whole series, and haven't seen the movie yet.

IDIOT!

edit: thanks for trying, Simon, but too late.

I heard that _somebody_ died, but I'm buying the DVD tomorrow, first DVD I will ever have bought, and I'm pretty angry right now. This thread title SHOWS ON THE HOMEPAGE, you don't even have to go to the discussion board to see it!!!!!

I registered JUST TO REPLY TO THIS THOUGHTLESS IDIOT.

THANKS A LOT.

Aahhaa, I would use something like this in your title: The Fate of Wash for Fanfic use **Spoilers ahead** or something to that nature. There are plenty of people out there that are just coming to the 'verse because they were not aware it was around until our little BDM came about. And even then, some of them haven't seen the BDM because they may want to see the story in chronological order and are waiting to see it.

I would advise changing your title. You're gonna get quite a few peeps angry.

SimonWho even tried to get you to change the title, and you came back with some flippant reply.

You are INCONSIDERATE, and I sure hope someone does something like this to you.

Now CHANGE THE TITLE, idiot, before you screw up somebody else's day!

edit:

Yes, I'm being childish, I'll admit it. But I would like this to not happen to someone else; and, as I've indicated above, the original offense (after a polite warning) was childish, too.

I apologize for my childishness. Someone else please apologize too!

But that aside, if Zoe returned to Serenity and Wash's body was gone.... don't you think she'd search to hell and back for him?

Hm. At first I assumed it was only a shrine, with no body... but thats silly since they did recover their ship and Wash probably would of been right where he was before...

But as a Wash fan of course I've thought of the possibilities... maybe the alliance found him, took him, revived him, and will use him as bait of some such... perhaps a little bit cliche. If his body was gone when the crew got back, maybe they would have thought that the reavers took him for decorating their ships or some such... though I suppose thats a lot of trouble to go to for decoration. And if he wasn't entirely dead... whick is the basis for this thread anyways, there's still the possibility he could have been eaten.

But I'm pretty sure he's just dead for good, which is something I can deal with. Grudgingly.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

JackFlanders, sorry that the title & thread spoiled a part of the movie for you. I hope you still intend to purchase the DVD & convince others to watch it w/ you, even w/ the cat being out of the bag.

Name calling is uncool & most un-Browncoat (if that is not a word it should be) like. I think enthusiasm and lack of foresight caused the author of the thread to chose the wording they did for the title.

Please change the title of this thread IMMEDIATELY. It does not matter to what, just change it!

Mal never did much serious "confiding" in Wash, if my memory serves. Book, of course, but not Wash. If it's confiding you're looking for, try Inara. Seems their relationship is on a new arc, perhaps she will become an outlet for Mal.

All of this of course doesn't show a very high regard for Joss' storytelling ability. Trust the man to make the right moves with the story and characters. He's the one telling the story, after all. Allowing an artist to create in the way he sees fit is hardly being a "minion". I'm just saying. Give the story room to breathe instead of saddling with inane "Wash lives" theories.

And for the love of Pete, change the thread title, you thoughtless clod!!

I don't know if it helps but the [thing which was spoiled in the thread title] it's not a major element of the movie. It's not like you can't enjoy the movie knowing it.

I agree!! He is dead and buried!! I also think it needed to be done if there is more to come from Serenity/Firefly..At the end of the series Wash and Zoe talk seriously about having a kid..I think that would have been a bad way for the story to go..But whatever Joss decides is fine by me, this is HIS story to tell!!!!

ok, changed. In deference to the politer members, tho I think its moot...

When the last guy finally catches the movie running for the umpteenth time on SciFi channel, somebody let me know...

...and then we can actually discuss this movie. How long has it been out again?

just fyi, I didn't consider it a spoiler when:
1. Wash has been already been discussed elswhere, and
2. If they haven't seen Firefly it won't mean anything to them, and if they have, and like Wash, they'd want to see how it happened even more.

I agree that he is dead, it is over. Giant harpoons? That is how the reavers fight. He saved everyone and died, it was a good death. But one thing I disagree on, why would kids be a bad way to go??? Maybe not in another movie but if the series started back up, yeah I could see it. I like the idea of the Jayne the human jungle gym it works. Plus if Inara and Mal do fall in love and she quits her job what would she contribute to the ship? I think resident babysitter would be suiting.

AAHHAAA,

I've been a member here quite a while. Just two (2) days ago I saw the movie for the first time, in DVD because I live in a remote area with zero movie houses. I'm damned sure I'm not alone. You, sir/madam, are a thoughtless TURD, and I don't care what others here think about my opinions. They already know I'm not one to hold my words in check.

JACKFLANDERS, I agree with you and your anger completely. It doesn't matter how long the movie has been officially out, many have not yet seen it for a variety of reasons. I think we can safely discuss every season of Buffy here, but after all, the DVD has only JUST come out to most parts of the U.S. And who knows worldwide when it'll be out. Many of the members here are international. Buttheads like the guy who started this thread deserve much worse than you gave 'em. Hope you enjoy the movie despite this.

Okay okay okay.....I think we should all take a deep calming breath, sit back and relax a little...and then throw him in hte airlock!

Anyways, I agree that spoiler topics should still be used. Though there is kind of a time limit use for the spoiler thing. After a few months, if they still haven't seen the movie, but somehow they have the internet, its their own fault for not renting it, borrowing it or buying it. I remember making a post back when AotC came out on DVD. 5 months had passed and people still hadn't seen it. Although, part of me wishes I could take seeing it back. ANYWAYS...the title's back to no spoiler warning, I don't know what the deal is.

As for Wash...um, sorry kid...he's dead. It's depressing, but thats the way it is.

Well, I just wanted to say that I'm sure the posting about Wash in the title wasn't done to intentionally spoil anything on anyone else.

We often (mistakenly) assume that because we know something, that others must know it, too.

Obviously, everyone hasn't seen the movie, so they don't know the ending. And, I'm sure there are movies that came out decades ago for which there are still people who don't know the ending.(i.e. "Citizen Kane". There are probably still people out there who don't know that Charles Foster Kane was really a woman, then was abducted by aliens and turned into a giant tomato, which found itself subsequently squished by the Bug That Ate Detroit. Wait. That's not how "Citizen Kane" ended. Oh well, I seem to have made my point, so I best move along.)

I can also sympathize with having a movie ruined on me -- specifically "The Empire Strikes Back", which had been ruined on me just days before it premiered theatrically in 1980. Stupidly, the book was out before the movie, and a friend told me the ending. But, in that case, the "friend" was being malicious to ruin it on me.

I don't think this was done to ruin it on anyone, and we shouldn't be so annoyed with a posting mistake, although it obviously did ruin the surprise (or one of them) on other viewers.

Just my opinion.

Ours is lucky enough to be a community which keeps growing, especially now. I remember realizing over a year ago that I couldn't go blithely talking about major plot details from the show (say, Ariel) without a spoiler warning because not everybody has watched the whole series yet.

Hard as it is to believe, not every single person who visits this site has seen the BDM, and that makes thread titles like this really inconsiderate. It's a shame we can't actually change it.

The only solution, of course, is to STOP BUMPING IT, which I (ironically) post to mention only because nobody else seems to have thought of it.

Sorry, I'm not usually this terse, but this strikes me as rude.

Plus, I'm still sad he's dead. Joss's right, to be sure, but... damn.

It does. I've edited the title of a post I started, and the title remained, unchanged. I had to edit it twice for the title change to take.

Aahhhaa needs to try editing the title of his initial post one more time. BTW, I liked Psolaris's suggestion for a changed title.

I think we need to get A FAQ. Seriously. One on how to use this site, searching using Google and so on, one about Firefly and one about Serenity. Can I suggest in the Serenity one:
Q) Is Wash Dead?
A) Yes, get over it!

Because there's another one of these 'Wash isn't really dead' threads every week, and they're either started by a Troll or someone who use bizarre logic to prove that someone who was impaled on a great big spike might still be alive.

Book nearly died from a bullet to the shoulder. Wash had a pole as thick as you leg go straight through the business area of his chest. You ain't comin' back from that short of jumping in a Go'uld sarcophagus.

What is a field medic gonna do? Magic sponge? Disney plaster? Give him a shot of Adrenaline and Morphine for the pain?

Seriously I don't want to attack you (at least too much) but these threads are getting tiresome, everything said here has been said before, and then said again and again and again and again and again and...
