Lurking around this board I discovered that there were several librarian Browncoats out there, besides myself. Got me wondering as to what other Browncoats did for a living? Were they students, stay at home moms, accountants, actors or computer techs?

So, what do you do to earn your keep on the 'Earth that was'?

clean up vomit at 3 a.m., learn each and every one of the wiggles' dance routines by heart, and make enough bowls of macaroni and cheese to clog the arteries of an entire nation.

In other words, a stay-at-home mom, and lovin' it. (well, except that vomit part. But he's better now.)

Aw, kids are so cute. I would know, having grown up in a daycare my mom runs through our house. I practically live with food stuck to my clothing when I help after school and practice! I'm a junior in high school, getting my act together for college. I'm involved it a lot of stuff, and crazy as it sounds want to take up a few more things (like dance). I golf and run distance track (the mile is the best event, period!) for my school, as well as volunteer for Key Club and Amnesty International. I'm also an Alto in our Concert Choir. I'm a brownbelt in karate (just got promoted to 2nd degree brown, which is 2 belts away from black)
I also like to draw and play with my two dogs.
Just your everyday student!

I think you might be an above-average student, RiverGoddess. You sound like the kind of student I wanted to be. I did do karate for a while but didn't get very far before quitting because I got a part-time job and couldn't bothered to find some place that does karate on a day I wasn't working. I will take it up again sometime though. (River inspired me!)

I am at Uni now doing a Master's degree in Civil Engineering and I am growing tired of education and can't wait to get out there and work (although I'll probably grow tired of that pretty quickly too coz I'm so lazy).

My education is all in Social Sciences, so of course, now I'm a bookseller. I'm the buyer and instore manager for LanguageQuest.Com. I've been in the independent side of the book industry for about seven (whoa) years now and LOVE it!

I really love that we have such a diverse group of fans from all age groups, educations and backgrounds. It's just too neat!

Well, I'm glad that people in other walks of life know how to appreciate good cinema. And that we come from all walks of life.

I'm currently the assistant technical director at my campus theatre/conference center. Means I'm a slave. But I work freelance as a Grip/Electric on TV and Film sets. Just until I can go somewhere where I can get a permanent job or work as a day player as a grip.

Its ironic cause I have a degree in music. But I don't ever plan to make it as a writer, though I love doing it.

Trnasportation Security Officer... That's me.
I think that's the most updated job title we have for now. The name changes every now and then. We tell you that your little pocket knives aren't allowed on the plane... blah blah blah.
I have to say though that it's the most interesting job I've ever had. As chaotic and as frustrating as it gets ... the good still outweighs the bad. Plus... You never know when one or all of the cast of SERENITY might go through one of our security checkpoints. What a day that will be. Freelance cartoonist.

People call me up ask me to draw summit cartoonifyed and I draw it.... Well if I feel like it.

Sometimes it's a storyboard, sometimes a comic, sometimes a cd cover(which later lead to directing the music video), or sometimes it's to design a prop of some kind.

Never studied for it, but (in fact I was urged not to draw cartoons) just drew like mad as a kid and in particular cartoons and just kinda fell into it really.

Currently trying to pitch some of my own stuff to book publishers plus I'm working on a script with some friends to pitch to the BBC as a tv show.(pipe dream I know!)

Oh and before anyone says they could never do this because they're not talented enough, well neither am I. I just work really hard. Trust me none of it is talent! and none of it comes naturally.

Ultimately though - emmigrate and work for Blizzard/Bioware/Valve or get a job at Revolution in York, they'd all be dreams come true really.

What a fascinating line-up!!
I'm a translator by profession (Dutch-English) and an actress/singer/dancer by nature. :)

I work from home when I have an assignment but my work is limited to three Dutch-speaking authors because I am also chronically ill and have a few minor handicaps that prevent me from doing as much of anything as I'd like.
My last asignment was afreebee for UIP, helping out with Firefly terminology for Serenity. :)

Of course :D

It's really a computer programming course geared towards game development, which means we do some graphics work and audio programming. The course I'm doing was the first in the UK (one of the first in the world) but there's similar courses all over the country now, big in America too I think.
