I think there will be a Serenity 2 eventually. Joss wants it. The fans want it and I think over this year DVD sales will be sufficent.

Hellboy 2 made about 55 mil worldwide and had a 65 million budget. It has a sequel.

Serenity is bound to get a sequal because the dvd sales will show Universal just how badly everyone wants these things. Then we get a BDS and then everyone who bought the dvd for the original will go out and see the sequal, which pulls in more money than anything before! Then we get another sequal until Sci-Fi or Fox decides to take us back to the TV and then we get another show. Yay, Firefly's back! After running for ten years on television, everyone decides to do another five movies and then our BDH are so rich and famous and Joss finally gets more money than Bill Gates and buys his own TV station, which plays Buffy, Angel,Firefly, and all the Serenity movies all day long, but mostly Firefly. Then, some really smart man decides to invent some kinda medicine that can make people live forever and Firefly will never end, unless all our BDH and Joss get really sick of it, though I can't imagine how or why they would. Eventually the show will be so popular, that even the aliens from another galaxy want to see this thing and Firefly goes universal, pulling in more money than ever before. The aliens then decide not to attack us, like in Independence Day, and everyone gives a personal letter of thanks to Joss and the BDH. Anyways, that's what I see coming. Though maybe everyone else's perspective may be slightly different than mine.

dont forget about people who will buy the DVD because by the time the BDS comes out rental stores will only have 1-2 copys of the movie, which will all be checked out, and all the people who missed it will want to see it so they are caught up on the story.

i know a friend of mine did this with Pitch Black/Riddik and i have no idea how you can call those sequels, but hey, i dont make movies, so i must not know, eh?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Most, if not all, of us have known since the 2nd week the BDM was in theatres that the hopes of a sequel would rely on the DVD sales. I'm not saying the article isn't hopeful, only that we kind of know that we are on the brink, waiting for DVD sales to carry the day.

I don't think I need to impress upon everyone just how very important it is for all of us to push the DVD & keep getting new people into the browncoat ranks. We have to push hard to get the word out. This article tells me that 'Versal & Joss are watching the DVD sales figures & the hopes of a BDS (big damn sequel) ride on those #s.

So get out there & push that DVD browncoats!

I knew it!!! 2006 is gonna be a GOOD SHINY year!!!
Movie sequel... TV series... Comics... TV movie.... I'll take anything and everything!!!!
My personal opinion.... You can take the entire cast... put them in a room with no script... no lines.... no ship... no costumes... AND I WILL STILL WATCH IT!!!! Their chemistry alone is reason enough for me to watch it. Don't get me wrong though.... I still want the ship, the script, the lines, the costumes and all that. Makes it more fun!!!!
