This was my first real introduction to Joss Whedon. I had seen Toy Story, and the original Buffy movie, even Aliens 4, but never paid attention to who wrote em (I was just a kid).

Then this came out. I loved it I started watching Buffy. I loved it and saw Firefly. I loved it and saw Serenity. Guess what happened? I LOVED IT! Now I worship Joss.

I know I'm not the only fanboy 'round here. Who else loves this series?

You're posting this on FireflyFans.net. I think I've said too much already.

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "

Read the series, loved the series! Though the first half was better than the second half.

I think Joss wrote some of the best Wolverine lines I've seen in a long time - and didn't even have him constantly hurting like he does so many characters. Wolvie was almost peaceful compared to the others!

Spoilers for serenity and X-Men for this next bit....

What does Joss have with this whole being impaled thing??? Vampires, Cordelia, Wash, Kitty AND Colossos??? It's like he has this psychological urge to shove pieces of wood into his characters! A puppet thing maybe? Sheesh!

It's back now too. I just got #13 in the mail yesterday and had to read it on the spot. It's a total build up issue, but its still really good.

I personally think it's the best X-Men around right now, but it does not live up to Joss Whedon's usually high standard. The second arc has even been porported to have been written by Daniel Way with treatments by Joss.

I think #13 has brought it back though from the dead, and hopefully it gets only better!

If you love Astonishing X-Men right now, go pick up Grant Morrison's 41-issue run on New X-Men. I think it is even better than Astonishing, and accomplishes so much with his slow build up to the grande finale.

If you like Joss' humour (obviously), go read "Y: The Last Man" by Brian K. Vaughan in trade paper back form. It has to be one of the best out there right now, and has a big comedic element to it.

"I aim to misbehave."
"Can't do something smart, do something right".

HOMER: "Oh Lisa, you and your stories; Bart is a vampire, beer kills brain cells. Now lets go back to that... building thingy... where our beds and T.V.... is".

****SPOILERS FOR X3!!!*****

Select to view spoiler:

You'll all be happy to know that the "mutant cure" plotline from this summer's X-Men 3 (or "X3") is straight out of Whedon's Astonishing X-Men work.

I interned Astonishing X-men #2 with my Mom's ashes last week. Along with one of my own comics.

My Mom got sick with cancer and when we found out 3 months ago. It was a sad time and I started medicating heavily with comics.
