Checking out Hollywood video's "Now Playing" section, and came across the following:

Quote:

A galactic civil war is raging, and Captain Malcolm Reynolds is on the losing side of it. But instead of battling it out with the enemy for the greater common good, he commits all manner of petty crimes and runs a transport-for-hire business out of his ship, Serenity. His life changes, however, when he picks up a young doctor and his nutso, telepathic sister and subsequently finds himself pulled into the fray between warring factions.

I just--words fail.

You know it's crappy blurbs like that, that keep Serenity/Firefly from having the success that they should. *goes off and tells Niska that the blurb writers are really the ones that messed up the train job*

In what universe can the word "nutso" ever be used by a professional writer? I mean, honestly.

It seems like this moron just read the description on the back of the DVD, then blenderized it even more (as opposed to just watching the damned movie).

I couldn't agree more. What professional uses "nutso" in a review? Most reviewers are just hacks that flunked out of film school and just pan other people's work because they're jealous that they lack the creativity to produce anything near as good as what they're panning.
This is all so typical. I read a negative user review of Serenity on Amazon and even not counting the terrible misspellings and poor grammar I was still astounded by the erroneous description where one character is confused with another. I kept thinking, "Did this assclown even watch the movie?" I even left a glowing review where I made some mild aspersions as to the reviewer's intelligence and breeding I was so perturbed by them. Several books I liked got the same treatment from these wannabees. I normally don't read reviews as I like to make up my own mind on something. Ebert and Roper gave Serenity 2 thumbs up which I was shocked at because I usually don't like anything either of them like so it just goes to show you. Pay no never mind to the loser reviewers and make up your own mind on what's good and not good. It's the actual money made that matters to the studios as well as whether or not it built a fan base worth investing further in that really counts and I think Serenity has accomplished that. I'm feeling very optimistic about a sequel or two because I know the fanbase just continues to grow and Universal surely realizes that. I'm really grateful to Universal for taking the risk involved in making Serenity. The only thing I have to say about Fox is too impolite to type here but it involves sucking flatulence and other grossly disturbing actions I won't even mention. In fact there's a ferret or gerbil in there somewhere but I won't go on.... :-)

Writers love to pigeonhole movies; and quite frankly, Serenity defies pigeonholing. I find many infotainment writers to be lazy nutsos who often have preconceived notions before they see the movie..if they see it at all. How many times have we heard "sci-fi western"?
Let us not forget the many good movie reviews, even if they did have to compare it to that aging hulk, Star Wars.
