2-year-old gets summons to serve jury duty

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - Kaylee Reynolds had a huge problem when she received a recent summons to serve jury duty.

She wasn't old enough to read it.

The 2-year-old has quite a few years to go before she reaches the minimum age of 18 to serve on a state jury. Lucky for Kaylee, Massachusetts Jury Commissioner Patricia J. Wood seemed willing to let it slide for a while.

"We'll give her a 16-year grace period," Wood said.

Wood guessed the mix-up could be traced to a local census form. If the form has a blank or mistaken birth date, July 4, 1776, is filled in.

"With that date we'll know it is wrong," Wood said.

Besides her questionable understanding of the concepts of guilt or innocence, there are other reasons why it's best to wait for Kaylee to serve. Her mother, Patricia, says Kaylee gets really cranky if she doesn't get her noontime nap.

Kaylee Reynolds?! That's awesome! :)

I wouldn't doubt it. I have had a patient with a 2 year old son named Xander. I was able to confirm that this was BtVS fandom related.

I have some friends with a newborn named Xander. They arent really Buffy fans persay but thats where they first heard the name and liked it.
I think its just a nice unique take on Alexander instead of Alex. Just like I have a cousin named Lex. Poor kid always gets "Lex Luthor???" uhhhh yea, he has NEVER heard that before . .

Xander (Xandir)is also the name of the gay character on "Drawn Together".

From Wikipedea...

"Xandir P. Whipplebottom is 19 years old and represents the stereotypical token gay participant selected to appear in reality television. He is a caricature of Link from The Legend of Zelda. He can be considered an ironic statement of video games in which he is meant to be a generic video game character when little to no video game characters are gay. At the outset of the show, he often valiantly proclaimed that "I'm on a never-ending quest to save my girlfriend!" The girlfriend is a spoof of the eponymous Zelda from The Legend of Zelda. Though he is wholly devoted to her, it is apparently more out of a sense of blind obligation rather then any sort of actual love or desire for her. After he comes "out of the closet" during episode three, he is on a never-ending quest to save his boyfriend, that boyfriend being a parody of Robin Williams's portrayal of the animated Genie from Disney's Aladdin, although the second episode of Season 2, where he was one of the guests at Xandir's marriage of convenience, implied that they were no longer an item.
Xandir serves as a vehicle to poke fun at gay stereotypes. All of his sexual interests borderline on the perverse, as he is an afficiondo of (many nasty things), and BDSM. In season one's Hot Tub, we see that both of his nipples are pierced, and he wears nail polish in season two. In Ghostesses in the Slot Machine, he wears makeup, lipstick, and a pink bikini while performing a male strip show in an attempt to seduce The King.

Girlfriend aside, he is one of the only houseguests who has not been implied to be bisexual (being fully and joyfully gay for most of the series). His name, which looks like a misspelled Xander, is a possible reference to Japanese video games that feature poor translation (i.e., All your base are belong to us). He shares his room in the house with Captain Hero, with whom he shares a friendship and much pseudo-sexual discussions. He is prone to going hysterical when upset, has numerous extra lives (at least 50 in total), and is left-handed."

Good thing some named Kaylee isn't on that show.

Sorry, I'm more in a mood to reply to the title of this topic, "Are the Parents Serenity/Firefly Flans?"

Um, saying "Serenity/Firefly Flans" is redundant. It's like saying "Star Trek Trekkies". Okay. On with the discussion...
