Ok, I suppose I should start a new thread/discussion on this; but, how in hell does the currency work in Firefly land? I'm writing my puffy little fanfic -- and have actually hit some action; well the start of action. Got the stalwart heros at the meet to set up some smugglin; and I don't have a frigging clue what appropriate payment for transporting a load of "retail merchandise" is? Unspecified merchendise of course. I haven't thought that far in advance.

Morning Randomites. I get to listen to a phone, logged into a teleconference all day. Yay is me.

Frito pie sounds a lot like what you get when you order nachos at most chain restaurants, like Appleby's or TGI Friday's.

Chili mac. I also first heard of it when stationed in Ohio. I always saw it as a knock-off of Skyline Chili from Cinci, but it's probably more like parallel evolution.

Mac & Cheese. My wife makes it according to her mother's old recipe, from scratch with three kinds of cheese and diced tomatoes and crumbs sprinkled over top. Totally yum. I get to dice the tomatoes and cube the cheeses.

This teleconference is going to be incredibly boring, did I mention that?

More insane ramblings by the people who brought you beeeer milkshakes!
The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you.

Is the hipppo sick. No, silly. It's a Christmas present. I'm sitting at my desk wearing my hippos. Got purple hippo slippers for Christmas. My office mate groaned; he likes them less then the leopard print ones I usually wear.

Yep, wearing business casual attire and purple fuzzy hippo slippers. Love it. Although it is funnier with a suit.

I feel todday. To make everyone jealous. I did my stint at the office this morning; came home made Annie's mac & cheese -- added the mustard. That is a nice addition thank you. And am now sitting watching white caps on the Chesapeake and telecommuting.

I love working for the government!

Heh; yeah, I'm jealous. I'm a gov't contractor these days and, though telecommuting isn't unheard of, it's generally geared towards mothers of small children. I'm the wrong gender and my youngest is a HS senior, so in the office I sit!

I work for an FFRDC. Our kid, is a 4 month old pug. I had to work at home yesterday -- Ada (the dog) had a vet app't.

They don't care where or when I work as long as my sponsors are happy. Thus, I just need to be somewhere where I've got highspeed internet and a plug.

Sounds like a good deal! I guess I'm kind of tied to the bank of computers surrounding my seat, I'm a research engineer and I don't have the horsepower at home for that many tunnels and xhost processes. I'll just languish at my desk, without a beer and lacking fuzzy slippers. *long suffering sigh*

Only good beer need apply. My usual is Saranac

http://www.saranac.com

It's the oldest brewery in NY, second oldest in the country (next to Juengling). They still follow the German Purity Laws for their brews. I live about 20 minutes from them.

Ooh, you from NY? Never been a huge fan of theirs. NY beer -- Troy Pub in Troy NY brews some decent stuff; and makes a mean plate of nachos. Or at least they used to.

Yeah, upstate. Rome, site of the former Griffiss AFB. It's a business park now, and still home of a branch of the AF Research Lab. I retired from the AF here a few years back, now an evil contractor.

Can't say I've been anywhere in Troy, though there's a great brewpub in Albany I used to visit now & again when my brother-in-law lived there. Really I've been around the world and no place I've been offered beer that was much (if any) better than the Saranac labels. I'm especially fond of their Black & Tan--though I'll admit I'll accept a Bass/Guinness version and be glad of it.

I think this thread just turned into the Guenever and Spinland show!! Hee hee.

Day has been the buisiest I've had in a long time. It's okay though coz I like it when it's busy coz the time goes quickly.

Ramdom question, but does anyone else have a minor phobia of public transport? It scares me so much it makes me want to cry. I'm wanting to go to London on Saturday and I'd give anything if I could drive. Trains freak me out.

Weird huh!

Heh. See what happens when I get bored?

Don't really have a feeling for mass transit, rarely have I lived where it was readily available. I've been in NYCity, Boston, D.C. for weeks at a time, and loved the mass transit, but dunno how I'd be after doing it day after day for years on end.
