Am I the only one here who has no desire to see a movie based on "Wonder Woman"? I love Joss to no end, and I'll give anything a shot, but really, has there been any good feminine superhero movies over the past decade that have been any good? (I'm thinking of Elektra, Aeon Flux, Catwoman, ect.)

Besides the Linda Carter series in the 70's, has anyone ever cared about this character? And no, WW Fan, I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about Average Dude who wants to spend some cash at the local movie house. I just can't see anyone wanting this movie. And deep down, I'm just afraid that if this movie tanks, finacially, Joss may have trouble getting another project up and running(like say Serenity 2?) Now I also believe that there is more to a movie than it's Opening Weekend, but I live in Fanatasy Land, and the people with the power live in the real world which is controlled by the almighty dollar...

Don't go all "hater" on me. I love Joss(god I actually typed that twice....)But I'm more interested in Goners right now than WW. I just hope that this is the right move for him.

Well, I'm skeptical, but if anyone can do it Joss can. I used to read my brother's comics when I was a kid, and I thought most of the female heros were, uh, less than stellar. The women appear to be drawn as sex objects rather than real characters (I'm not trying to knock the artwork). Spiderman gets to start out as a geeky adolescent, but what female superhero has been less than outrageously gorgeous (and usually top-heavy)? Why would a woman warrior fight in a bra top and high-heeled boots?! Plus they always wear their hair down. It doesn't make sense. I never got into WW, but maybe it's because my brother didn't buy that series. Since I never read it, I can't say it's bad, but I still can't get past the costume.

I watched all the new Marvel movies, but I didn't go to Elektra. And I haven't seen Aeon Flux, so I can't judge the few female superhero movies there are. (Does Underworld qualtify? I like the original, haven't seem the new one.)

If WW has any potential, Joss will find it. I would have been skeptical about Buffy, too.

A good Wonder Woman movie will be very hard to do, but if Joss can find the balance in the story, and if he finds an actress that the audience can relate to, and if he gorram pays attention, he will be able to pull this off, and he just might.

I expected Spiderman to be a crap film, but the writers, directors ran back and read all of the Spiderman novels, got the guys who actually DID the comics, and then they went forth and made what I would call a very GOOD Spiderman movie. They captured the essence and feel of the character Spiderman.

The actor that they found to play Peter Parker was the best choice, and he pulled off what a major named star would not have been able too.

Joss needs to handle this right because if he wrecks Wonder Woman, well, I'm coming after him, and things will not be very pleasent, but i have to take into account all of you guys....you are his fans, and you will not stand by and let me harrass Joss, so thinking of all of you...I'll bring extra ammo.

But also, since he did create Firefly, and Serenity, I can only hope that his genius will come through, and Wonder Woman will be a hit.

**Grumble** I was NOT one of those people in the 70s, watching that cheesy television show called Wonder Woman and enjoying it....I was mad as hell that no one seemed to be able to present this hero just right. Why oh why does she have to have mammoth boobs, and who on earth goes into crime-fighting wearing high heels?

Just a thought, and a bad one at that.

As said before... if there's anyone that can truly pull this off it's Joss, he's created some interesting female heros... I think that if he puts in the dignity that he's done with the other female characters that this might actually come out well...

But... Wonder Woman never really started out on really nice footing... eventhough it was a female hero... there was a very subtle bondage thing that went with it...

I just hope that whatever the endeavors may be that Mr Whedon gets George-Lucas-rich, and right quick, so that he can start financing his own work, studios/networks be damned. Hopefully at a time when FF/Serenity is still at to top of his mind.

i used to read the wonderwoman comics because im a girl and i wanted to read girl superheroes and i hated those comics, i could never get into them.
the idea in theory could be really bad. but then again the idea in theory for buffy is DREADFUL! a teenage super hero who fights vampires? it sounded bubbledgum and irrelevant. but Joss is smarter than that. if he has a real respect for the comics or wants to give it a new respect then i belive he will.
itll be interesting to see what he does with it. all i can say is im so glad its him doing it rather than some brain dead director who just wants to make film with a girl in ill fitting clothes and a corny wartered down version of feminist pop culture. if you think about it, the film done by anoyone else could suck more than a sucky thing. hopefully joss will make it his.

All I know is that if there's anyone can make a good WW movie, it's him.

No, I am not insane, I am crazy. Thank you for asking.

I worry about poor Joss trying to make a reasonable WW film. Sure, if anyone can do it, he can, but I'm guessing it will be a titanic struggle. I bet the big mucky-mucks in charge are really just looking for another Catwoman to bring in those adolescent males that are supposed to account for the majority of ticket sales. Slap some busty white woman in a tight fitting leather bustier with short-shorts and high heeled red boots. Have her run around all jiggy and maybe have the villains make some bondage cracks. That ought to bring in the 14 year old boys. So what happens when Joss wants to make a decent, dimensional character? I hope he twisted the studio's arm to get some creative control before he took the job.

If anyone but Joss was directing it...

I didn't particularly want to see "Firefly" before it aired, but I trusted that Joss could bring me something new and entertaining. He came through big time.

If anyone can do a good "Wonder Woman", Joss is the man.

Hi. New here, but love the site!

As for Wonder Woman, I never really read the comics either, but did watch the tv show. I don't really care for the outfit myself, but the IDEA of Wonder Woman. Strong, intelligent, beautiful, powerful.

I think if Joss can find the right person to play Wonder Woman and get a good script going this project may have a chance. He can't use an already known actress either. Like Spiderman he has to use someone sort of known, but not blockbuster known.

As for the costume, why can't he change it? It doesn't have to be hotpants and a bustier and high heeled boots?

Remember anything is possible: it's the movies!

Thanks

Maybe she only wears the costume once to lure the Villian?? Or somebody in the movie is a fan so he decides to draw the outfit for a "Cameo" appearance?

But then I've looked and looked and looked and can't seem to find one picture in an alternate costume... They changed the Catwoman outfit... they can change this one... although... they will have to do some sort of throw back to it somewhere in the movie.

Joss can't change the costume without permission of the company that owns the rights to the character, but now that I think of it, would Joss have taken this job if he was stuck with that costume? Another ray of hope!
