I know most of the people on this site are American, and as such you might not care much about a movie poll in Australia - but I am Australian, and this poll:

http://www.abc.net.au/atthemovies/viewerspoll/

is for the major film show in the country.

I'd dearly, dearly love to see Serenity make it into the top 20, and this might not be so out of the question. In a recent "favourite movies of all time" show, Serenity came in at a respectable 38. Which when you consider that this was against all of the films ever made, is a remarkable achievement. Especially in Australia, where Firefly got even less airing than in America.

To vote, you have to choose three films in order, enter your email, and a postcode. If y'all don't know an Australian postcode (which i'm sure is for the most part the case) then use mine:

6082

Please give it a vote, it would make my year to see Serenity get up on the list.

Cheers guys.

Excellent, thanks a lot. Keep it up everyone and with any luck we might see a pleasing result. If it gets in the top ten, i'm definately sending a "so how about that?" email to Fox.

Not that they'll give a Goram toss about it.

As it says, the results are aired on Feb 15th, so i'll let you all know as soon after I hear as I can.

Keep up that voting!

I was so surprised to see Serenity in the Top 40 films of all time! They went throught the top ten on the show, and then played through the top 50 in the credits. I wasn't really paying attention, but then I saw Serenity and nearly jumped out of my chair. Up until then, I didn't really know that it was very popular over here.

If you're interested to see the list, it's found here:

http://www.abc.net.au/myfavouritefilm/top100.htm

Just looking at the list now, and it looks to me that Serenity was the most recent film in the top 50! That's definately something.

Yeah, forgot to mention that. You just need to click a link in an email, nothing more. I know it's a bit of extra hassle, but i'd sure appreciate it if people could make the effort.

Cheers

yup...

...did my part... AND... put 75 copies of the Fruity Oat Bar commercial into my iTunes library...

Wait... did I say that out loud? Well... that's okay... nobody saw me anyway... and even if they did, the subliminal masking MADE me do it

Hey(!!) Joss can't make it stop worming up his ears either

Let the fruity, oaty, subliminal masking make you do it "or your friends will think you're a stupid, inbred stack of meat."

(hehheh... this is a fine example of using peer-pressure as an excuse to get away with subliminally compulsive behavior )

Actually, I first heard that said by Fred from Angel the series. Angel is giving out orders to his staff and Fred salutes him and then drunkenly replies: "Done and doner!" LOL

Well, once you've finished the DVD box set, watch Serenity, of course. Then the special features, then the shows with their audio commentary.

Then pine, pine away for the loss...

Welcome MedevacPilot, welcome to the 'verse.
And I want to say thank you for being where you are and for doing what you are doing.

Do you not have the Firefly DVD's there? Or the movie Serenity? You know, if not, we Browncoats are gonna have to do something about that. I think we oughta be sendin' the DVD's ( both movie and show) to folks in the military. There was a thread about that somewhere on here.....* starts hunting....*

Oh, wait! Hope you post often and we are so glad you are here with us and I just know you are gonna love it here, this is the best site! It's become home to me and I hope it will for you!

Why the hell did you even put King Kong on that list, it is one of the worst movies at the box office, started out so slowly.

Yes!! This is something I've been wanting to do for some time--send Firefly and Serenity to our folks overseas. I often send packages thanks to Anysoldier.com Perhaps we could set up a collection to send Firefly etc to US soldiers? I'm not rich enough to do it on my own, hence not having already done so...

I put Kong as one of my favourite films... It was great! And not just for the special effects - I actually really loved the direction, and the Kong-Naomi Watts chemistry.

Hahahahaha. I wonder if they will pick up on it! I live in a pretty small town, which is also filled with the kind of people who watch shitty commercial TV... It's kinda ironic then that it's making such a difference to a top class film. Heheh. Awesome.

I got the box set and the movie as a gift which I was a bit skeptical at first, but soon became a fast fan....life in Iraq is measured in long bouts of extreme boredom with brief intense moments of excitement. I am looking forward to coming back to the U.S. and seeing Firefly on the T.V. again.

Thanks, glad to be here. Alot of those desert planets the crews land on look familiar....I wonder if they do any filming in Iraq!!! JK...I can honestly say that flying at 100 ft at 150 kts over the open desert is alot of fun...except when we get shot at or come close to hitting birds. I wonder if the Serenity has inadvertantly hit a bird or two?
