New season of Firefly.....New Poll as of this week.

You don’t need to stuff the ballot box, just get every one to vote. We don’t want SciFi pulling the poll again. Don’t aim to be bad on this one, just vote. Let's get Scifi to notice us

Vote....then Post your thoughts.

http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/

UPDATE...
The Poll is finished. Sci-Fi has posted a new poll.

If you go to the link it will be on the right side of the page. You can also view past polls and results.

Over 16000 responses were cast. It's the second highest number of responses to a polls (Highest is Patrick Stewart poll)

My hope is Scifi noticed and it helps our cause. I figure it's the little things that will help increase our fan base.

Thanks to all that particpated

Sorry, but I had to vote for TV. Don't have ipod, don't do pay-per-view and my computer is practically ancient.

Where's the "Take it any which way I can get it" button?
Absent that, I had to choose "Can't Stop the Signal."

The question isn't "do you want to watch it on other media", it's "are you willing to pay for episodes."

Vote yes ;).

My wife and I went to see "The Producers" last weekend (liked it, but would not see it again) Cost: $30 for tickets and snacks for approximately 2 hrs. Of entertainment.

“Other media” – Firefly Direct to DVD - conservative 16 episodes, 12 hours of great entertainment that I can watch over and over again and share with family and friends….Priceless, well I’d be willing to pay $50 plus(or less with sponsor ad at beginning of each episode). The poll on this web site most people willing to contribute $50 to $100 to help start production again. I Voted Yes!

The Patrick Stewart Poll had 21,200 respondents and was up for a week

As of this morning, up for only 1 day 8200 people have responded.

Voted no. I don't like the idea.

Making Firefly (Season 2) into a direct-to-DVD release is relegating it to the same status as any direct-to-DVD movie or TV series. It won't get the kind of publicity it should, and it won't get the kind of backing it should.

That and I don't like paying for file formats. Firefly has a much better chance if it goes the traditional route: TV, then a DVD set for each season. That'd still generate revenues as all us browncoats would be buying up the DVDs either way. KF

I don't understand this. This poll for Pay-per-view episodes is the closest we have gotten to even remotely getting a new season.

Yes it would probably work a lot better on tv, but there has been no indictation that that is ever going to happen.

Why would you try to shoot down the only real indictation of getting a new season? It just doesn't make sense.

Thanks for the heads up and the link.

I went with the, "I'm willing to spend cashy money to see more Firefly, no questions asked" response. Maybe that willingness to put our money where our mouths are will make a difference.

To the 21% of 7,600+ respondents (as of when I voted) who said, "I dunno... How much is it gonna cost me?": Whaaaat?!?

People can be so... what's the word i'm looking for here? Oh, yeah: STUPID.

Hello? McFlans?! This is Firefly were talkin' about here. If you're not absolutely certain that you'd sell a large chunk of your liver to get more Firefly...

At least answer: "I want it back on TV," although that seems a little non-commital to me. It occurs to me that since SciFi are running this poll, they might: 1.) be actually considering bringing it back to TV themselves; 2.) consider the guy pushing for season 2 on his own dime a serious player; 3.) are trying to judge whether it would pay for SciFi to either bring it back themselves or at least financially back Ace Wutzizname in his venture.

Looks like a very good sign to me. I think we should start getting happy now. Really-really.

Hepatically,

zoid

P.S.
Remember, when Star Trek finally came back to TV with ST:TNG, it was as a direct-to-syndication deal, not as a regularly slotted show on a single network. Just sayin'.

It does. I can't support Firefly coming back in a format that's inevitably going to get it killed even faster than Fox could've axed it. The entire idea seems like what'd come out of the head of some eccentric who thinks he can buy back the entire series. It's more complicated than that.

I'm not saying it ain't possible. Just a made-for-iPod format's gonna kill it. It doesn't seem like the same kind of profitable opportunity that'd entice all the actors to come back (even though they love Firefly, they gotta eat you know), not to mention Joss and all those incredible writers who made the first season good as it was. I'd put my money on another network (CW, SciFi, etc.) picking it up much sooner than this.

Yes, I do want to see another incarnation of Firefly desperately. But not so desparately that I want it to be revived from the dead in some disfigured state, Monkey's Paw style. If it's going to be re-done, it needs to be redone in a format that'll allow it to continue shining. This format won't cut it. KF

It would'nt be just for IPod. The way TV is delivered to you is changing. I think we all prefer TV Broadcasts, but these other formats are the wave of the future. We are only a few years from total digital broadcasts which you will end up paying for anyways plus some.

At least someone(ACE) is not seating on his hands and is "stiring the pot up" Maybe this will spark the TV exec's to take notice.

Indeed. It would be on PC and Paper View, not just iPod. It's am emerging format that Firefly could very well exploit, and even make more popular.

And if things go well, maybe we'll get our TV show.

Hold on there partners. iPod isn't the only option in the 1st selection. It's *any* pay-per-view format, including cable & DTV PPV, etc. I voted this way specifically so that if it happens, we had some say in Firefly's longevity. If we stop buyin it, they'll stop makin it. If we continue to pay to see it, they'll most likely keep makin'em. No death-sentence time slots. No interruptions for this weeks baseball game... Just simple supply & demand.
My ignorance of how these things work may prove me wrong, but I believe my reasoning to be sound.

Should I clearly mark metaphors next time?

I wasn't being literal when I said "made-for-iPod". What I said is my general sentiment on all shows-via-download. We're not a few years away from it; in fact, we're likely at least a decade away from it being mainstream. TV evolved as a free medium (then semi-free with a flat cable rate); switching to a format where Firefly can only be seen if you pay for it first is gonna kill its potential for new fans.

Can you think of any series available via download that has near the popularity of your average television show? Firefly might be groundbreaking on a lot of fronts, but it's not the type to be groundbreaking on the downloaded-TV front. Thus far, the only things really looking like they can turn a profit via download are shows that've already been shown on television--Lost & 24, e.g. (or some other show besides 24, can't recall which). That's because folks are reasonably reluctant to shell out money for something first before knowing what it's gonna be.

Being realistic doesn't mean giving up our optimism. The downloaded-TV format is a long-shot. Firefly being picked up by a new network is a far more plausible option--and one that's good enough to encourage the same writers, actors, and producer back on the set. KF

Saw Serenity without knowing anything a t'all about Firefly... loved it, bought the DVD set. Space Western to the max, this is Trek NG-meets- bonanza but better than both. Set in the futuristic equivalent of post-Civil War USA, with bitching characters/relationships and sub-plots, writing & direction that just gets better with every episode (I'm just into "Out of Gas" now.) A tragic error in network judgment to pull this show, when they could've just tried marketing it well instead. Ah well, Joss, a genius is often not recognized in his or her own time, right? Thanks anwyway for the episodes you managed to squeeze out before it got canned! (and why was that...? Because Rupert Murdoch wasn't happy with Chinese being the galactic lingua franca? Because the Alliance was too similar to the Coalition of The Willing...?) PS: has anyone thought of passing around a hat, some grassroots promo to make more shows, while the cast are still alive? It would definitely make TV history, wouldn't it?
