LALARA

When I joined this website I introduced my self. The next day when I opened my email I had tons and tons of emails from the people who had replied to me. Thanks for making me feel so welcome.
I started watching Firefly on the Space Network here in Canada and was hooked immediately. I have been a trekker for over 30 years and I've chucked it all aside to become a Browncoat. It doesn't take long before one feels that the shows characters are like your old friends. Now by joining this website I have made new friends who definately understand me. Members of my own family think I'm just going through a phase but I'm here to stay. I hope that in years from now we'll all be discussing the latest Firefly movie.
I hope it has a long healthy run and I'm going to do my part to spread the word.
Love Lalara

Lalara, I like the way you think..except that in a few "years" we will be discussing several seasons of Firefly/Serenity and a few movies

Until then, take a place along the line beside me and FollowMal...we got some fighting to do before our friends come home.

We will hold...we hold till Mal gets back.

Yes, absolutely.

We are 'reverse' virus marketing, I guess you could call it.

Welcome to another Trek convert. Before Firefly, I would have said nothing compares to SW and ST. Not even Farscape. (And I LOVE Farscape)

Firefly and Serenity just blew them all away.

The best part is, every fan I've seen posting has been upbeat and not at all bitter about our misfortune of not having a show right now. There is hope and love and a sense of family. I've never gotten that from any Star Wars or Star Trek group. The acceptance you get here is like NO other. I not only fell in love with the show, I fell in love with the fans. Every post I've seen by a Browncoat begging for the show back has been intelligent, respectful and courteous.

I'm so proud of my Browncoat status and so very proud of being associated with them.

(I'm even looking into sewing myself a Zoe prairie coat and knitting a cunning Jayne hat just to make it official!)

Glad to haveyou with us, Lalara!

By the way, if the emails get too annoying, you can click off the check box at the bottom of the posting screen. That way you'll get no mail notifications for responses to that post.

I don't disagree on any particular point.

Maybe it is a phase, perhaps something like, say, death could end it.

Anyway, glad you're here, pretty sure I already said that but it is still true and a little repetition doesn't hurt.

If I'm one of the ones who made you feel welcome you're welcome. Damn that sounds stupid.

Yeah, I agree. The first thing that attracted me here was just how friendly all of the people were. The Browncaots here are a like support group/family/fellow fans all wrapped up in one shiny package! It seems like the loving and homey atmosphere of the show has rubbed off on all of us, or the show attracted already loving and homey people... I won't strain my brain on that one too long. LOL! The point is, I love all the unique personalities and great talents here! You can't take the sky from us!

The only difficulty with this forum is keeping up with all the enjoyable posts.

When I first came, I'd just quit a GameFAQs forum, so I can tell you it was such a stark contrast to your run-of-the-mill posters over there. KF

Now I am learning about scary.

Lalara,

I second that opinion. I'm new to this site and I've never really posted messages before, so I was a little nervous, but everyone on this site seems very friendly and accepting. Also, there are a lot of interesting threads! I lose whole hours of time reading them.

If anyone could give me any advice about posting, I'd really appreciate it. (For instance, how do I get a cool graphic at the top? And do I reply to the first post or the last, or does it matter? And how do I use one of those emoticons?)

Thanks again!

I'm glad you think it's so shiny here; that's because it is! :) There is something endlessly fulfilling about being with people who know exactly where you're at.

In any other corner of the 'verse (how many corners does a 'verse have anyway?; well, never mind that) you get flamed, people are crude, wars rage on for days, and you have to be real guarded with your thoughts; and especially around your emotions.

But this end of the 'verse, here you join the table, around the gas-light, and they invite you like an old friend. They understand, they comprehend. You're on their crew. Where people say: "No need to say anything, but tell me all about it!"

Like attracts like. That is why I, like you, like you. :) (wait! ... yes, it makes sense).

Welcome!

Hi, SaveWash,

We are mighty glad to have you join our crew.

You get the pic with your name when you go to
MyFirefly at the top and pick one. They are kinda down at the bottom of the page of options that you have.

It doesn't matter which one you post to, you'll get the hang of it after awhile.

You copy and paste or type what it says to the left to insert emoticons. They are fun.

Hope you'll post often, we love to talk here.

Then they start bitting you in the ass. hehe.

It is known that there are infinite things in the 'verse, but not all of them have corners, thus the number of corners must be finite. Any finite number over infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds so the average number of corners per thing in the 'verse is zero. It quickly follows that the total number of corners in the 'verse is zero.

Any corner you encounter is clearly the product of a deranged imagination.

Let us all bow our heads in a prayer of thanks to the deranged imagination that created this one.

(Bonus points if you know what all but the last line is mimicking.)

Hehe,

Douglas Adams, "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe" :)

So, as for that corner-in-space thingy, I guess we'll have to call it "early quantum state phenomenon".

Thanks, FollowMal. I tried the avatar and even though I clicked on the button below the picture and updated my profile, I'm still not getting the avatar up there. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

You know, I think that has a lot to do with how Browncoats are in general. We don't take things for granted since our beloved series got cancelled. But we don't lose hope, since that cancelled series got turned into a BDM.

I think the good vibes, though, are mostly due to the optimistic sentiment around here, and wanting to spread around those good feelings about the seires. KF

Okay, this is a little weird. First of all, thanks for all your help, FollowMal, Asarian and ChristheCynic. I think the problem is that I'm logging in through Mozilla. When I come here through the e-mail notices or through Internet Explorer, I can see the avatar, but when I come in through Mozilla, I can't see it. How strange is that?

Thanks again, everybody!

Hi there. :) How are things in Lalara land? (Oh, God, that was bad! have I sunk this low? lol).

Anyhow, I so had to chuckle when you said you have been a trekker for 30 years, but tossed it all for the 'verse. :) See, I soooo recognize that! Done exactly the same thing! I have just recently become a browncoat myself (a good two weeks ago). And as I read your post, I suddenly realized I have not seen any of my regular stuff, like Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica (new series) or Lost. I missed them all. Or, more accurately, I didn't miss them at all! :)

The 'verse, without the FireFly Love in it, has suddenly become a very barren place, now hasn't it?

Anyway, I just want to say: welcome! We're still flying. That's not much; but it's enough.
