Have you introduced anyone else in your family to Firefly and (of course) there-by turning them into Browncoats? When I first got the series, I got my two little cousins, my aunt, uncle, and father all immediately caught up, but my favorite part is how much of a die-hard my mother is now. She, I kid you not, uses "shiny" in her regular vocabulary now.

Yes, shiny! Good work. I was the first in my family, and got my sister, my brother and his wife, my boyfriend, and my mother hooked. They've transfered it on to other people--I consider them "granchildren converts". Just like you, I consider getting my mom convinced the biggest win, as she never watches TV (neither do I, but the lack of Firefly quality shows is the reason why)

Cheers, Amylisai

When I gave the Firefly dvd's to my sister and brother in law (who are both sci-fi fans) their response was a polite, "Oh yea, this is that show you've been telling us about...thanks". Three days later I got an email from brotherinlaw to the effect of "damn you, I've watched the whole series and now I have to buy the movie, and wait for your sister to have free time so I can watch the show /w her before I can see it (she made me promise)". He then went on to discuss technical aspects of the show (he's a former engineer)and asked when they were going to be making more.

My response was "Ha, ha, ha, mine is an evil laugh".

A week later my sister sent me a letter that read "Thank you for giving us serenity, it was something we'd been missing".

Actually, I'm a product of it...

My dad introduced me to it. He used to watch it when it ran back in 2002 and tried to get me to watch, but I had things going on most Friday nights and wasn't interested then.

He let us borrow his Serenity and Firefly and bought my hubby Firefly for his birthday last month. Dad'd never consider himself a Browncoat, but my mom and I now do!

My parents and I were introduced to it by my brother and then I showed it to two closest cousins. I haven't gotten a chance to show more people the show but I have managed to tell at least everyone in the family all about it.

I recently got my fiance' into the show/film and she loves it, when we got to the end of the dvd, she said, "When do we get the rest of them?" When I told her that was it, I thought she would cry. Another Browncoat enlisted! Our numbers are growing, we will rise again!

This is why we lost, you know. Superior numbers.

My husband and I found it at the same time. Our kids are too young to watch, though they both have pretty cute Firefly t-shirts that we make them wear, and my three-year-old regularly includes "Firefly" in her make-believe worlds even though she has no idea what it is (I guess her Dad and I talk about this WAY too much!)! I turned my dad and one of my sisters onto it. Unfortunately, my other two sisters are more "Bachellorette in Paris" types (*SIGH*) so there's really no hope for conversion there.

MAL: We're still flying.
SIMON: That's not much.
MAL: It's enough.

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Well, lets see, I converted my:

- wife
- son
- daughter
- stepdad
- mom
- best friend
- cousin
- uncle

I guess you could say that we are a family of browncoats. As a matter of fact my wife bought a brown trenchcoat so she could be a true browncoat too.

UNREGISTEREDCOMPANION

My sister and I both found it independently. I bought her the series on DVD and knit her a Jayne hat for Christmas. She said it was the best present she got.

I used to tape the series for Hubby since he worked Friday nights. We went to the theater together to see Serenity. I got my oldest son to watch the series and the movie. He likes them but he isn't a Browncoat like his mom.

I got a few self proclaimed "sci-fi haters" to watch Serenity. They actually enjoyed it, but haven't gone Browncoat. Oh well, at least they can't say they hate sci-fi anymore :D

Sci-fi in general seems to put off a lot of my friends. I am in a book club and picked "Hitch hiker's guide" for my book. Out of 7 people, only 1 liked it. Since I am in "hostile territory" I will take any little victories I can get.
