No one wants to say that.

LMAO! That is truly a grand and devious idea! *snerk* And like all the best evil plans, you can always claim total ignorance and blame it on Kristen's rumours ;p I can't really see a worst-case scenario there...

Is Kristin a fan? Maybe that's why she started the rumors...

That's a great idea.

Put them in a position of having to choose between picking up the show, or turning away viewers (theoretically)loyal to the network before it even starts up.

I love it. I'm in.

Bless Joss and the 'verse through which he flies.
*sigh*
So, the rumor is de-bunkleated, for now. But that doesn't mean we quit, does it?
We be patient and wait it out.

Although, if Jewel plays Mal, and Ron plays Kaylee and Morena plays Book...
does that mean Sean plays Zoe, Alan is River and Adam is Wash? That could get really wierd....

(I sense a fanfic coming up....)

*puts on browncoat* Thanks for the digs. Reckon it fits like a glove.

I'm all for inundating CW with requests and I'd do so gladly if we could get sanctions for the action. We wouldn't want the ploy to backfire and turn-off the execs by being presumptuous. Once we have a clearer picture of how things are developing, we should go all out, but I conjure it wouldn't hurt to have a go-ahead.

Go? Too late. I already mailed my letter.

Just a thought but is it possible that someone from the corpoartion (CW that is), would see us posting these crafty ideas? Perhaps I'm just cautious. But ya know, if we were all really Browncoats conspiring about a plan to take down the Alliance, putting it on the Cortex would well, make things more interesting...for lack of a better word. I would think if they were considering picking it up someone would scout the net for what fans are saying(possibly those who hate it as well if any Browncoat has left em standin that is). Either way, I'm sending my letter out tomorrow and letting my friends know of the scheme. One way or another I'm determined to do what I can to help Firefly/Serenity continue.

Keep in mind, many network execs, as well as the heads of variouse "save-our-show" campaings have said several times that emails are virtually worthless - simply because one person could conceivably be sending in hundreds of emails that still only represent 1 viewer.

Snail mail, on the other hand, is regarded much more highly. Preferably hand-written letters, as a printed letter can be duplicated many times, even to different addressees, with little effort. A hand-written letter sent via snail mail is said to represent potentially hundreds of individuals in the minds of corporate execs, as the theory is that for every one person willing to put pen to paper, there are a hundred too lazy (or busy) to do so.

I speak as someone who wrote many a "Crackers DO matter!" letter to the Sci-Fi channel in support of Farscape.

What?? I'm a Chiefs fan!

Luckily -- before I start a football jihad -- I'm not sure any blame needs to be placed. As far as I could see, Mr. Whedon only debunked current rumors. I didn't figure we'd get our shiny new series immediately, what with everyone having so much on their respective plates.

I didn't see a word about "never again". I choose to be blissfully oblivious to negativity and selectively vigilant of our esteemed Mr. Whedon's witty hints.

In other -- less adverby -- words, I wanna see what I wanna see. Heh.

NONAME

"The fanbase is still growing, and it seems whoever watches it for the first time becomes addicted for life."

That would be me. Never even heard of Firefly until I wandered into the video store a few days agp when I was sick and just happened to pick up Serenity. Never even heard about it or Firefly. After watching Serenity I went right back to the vid store and rented the TV series. To my utter disappointment there were only four disks. I watched all of them in two days. In fact, I have yet to return them. At any rate, I went from having no clue about Serenity or Firefly to seeing all episodes to posting on this website in three short days.

Truly a series that was dropped way before it's time. Now I can't get that fricking theme song out of my fricking head. I love that FF ballad though. I've been singing it in the shower and now my girlfriend even sings it and she hasn't even seen the move or any of the tv episodes.

Anyway, I now have the FF bug and am so fricking pissed that no-one has picked up this incredible series.

i love this 'verse in such a way i cant describe it, i never thought i would belong to the cult of sci fi tv and letter writing campaigns but its not evena choice for me now.

i dont really know if it will ever exist on tv anymore, my main hope is for some bid damned sequals or prequals, but anything that shows a flurry of activity from the browncoats can only be a good thing, whether it happens or not at least we can show that we have the numbers, that there IS an audience for this

My point exactly...notice Joss didn't address this point (the first news item) at all. Similar "sightings" were overlooked or debunked leading up to the BDM. I am not believing this rumor (and that's what it still is) blindly, but I am also not falling for Joss's wordgames again.

The Bottom Line is that Kristen at E-Online would have little to gain from posting an unsubstantiated "sighting" about a defunct tv show's possible revival. Hell did she even know about Firefly before her post?

Time will tell if Joss is being Joss.

We will hold...we hold till Mal gets back...wait what's that on the horizon?

someone on the firefly lj community was saying that kirsten is a firefly fan herself. also that shes often got facts wrong in the past so im not sure how reliable her source was. this isnt to dicredit her as a writer, its just that in dealing with the world of celebrity gossip, a journalist is bound to get mis fed information or report things that arent true.

however, this hasnt been confirmed or denied to me so im still holding with my un-phased optimistim and im planning on being as loud and as visible about being a browncoat the best i can.

and its not just about being a hardcore browncoat, the newtowrks and studios need to know that regular people love this too. its ok hearing from the fanatics, but they need to know this has appeal and is ultimately sellable to all the good folks at home.
so letter writing and dvd buying for friends it is!

The funny thing is we can't find an address, website, email, nothing for CW. You really think they have a building already? What for? To hold the plants they plan to water someday when they move in and start working?

Now if they said "The UPN buildings" or something like that it might make sense. But as of right now I don't think there even is a CW building for them to have been leaving.

I think I'm going to mail a letter more than once too. Wait a couple of weeks and do it again... I'm going to be careful not to sound too fan-like. Just like a regular person. My point is in the details. Notice that's a UPN address. I'm saying I don't think any specific building has been designated as CW yet. Maybe they will just used the old UPN building. Maybe they won't. Though it seems odd that we can't find an address that has CW in it yet a rumor places Nathan, Gina and Summer at this mystical CW building.

Saw a version of this rumor on AICN and rushed right over here to get the confirm/deny on it 'cuz I know y'all got your fingers on the pulse of this baby. Had my hopes up for half a minute. Disappointed, naturally but that's missing the big picture...

We're still here. We're still waiting. Let it die? Like hell. Even if we don't get our show back, even if the Big Damn Trilogy never gets made, SereniFly will keep going. Why? We've got fanfic, or comics. Grunts like us just too damn stubborn to let this thing we love so well just go.

No, there haven't been any overtures from the CW as regards a SereniFly spin-off. I haven't even heard the orchestra tuning up. But if they happen to come calling, I do know what I would do:

1) In order to keep the show cost efficient, we would get rid of a few things we don't need, like spaceships, floors, and Jewel. (You thought I was gonna say 'costumes', didn't you? Porn guy.)

2) Nathan is busy making movies, but since I don't want new cast members, everybody in the cast would just move over one. Jewel (she's back!) would play Mal, Ron would play Kaylee, Morena would play Book, and so on.

3) People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy.

4) The actors can make up their dialogue. I'm bushed, and they're all funny, and the hell with it. Maybe I'll give them a premise to work off of, like "You're all in trouble" or "Wash has a thing". They could maybe light it too.

5) Klingons, but not alien Klingons. But still Klingons.

So already the show is running like a well oiled companion. I'm just proud to be a part of the Country Western network, and I know this will be their biggest hit since "Have Space-Gun, Will Travel."

I hope, as always, this clears things up. And I hope the executives at the Carnie Wilson network DO give me a call. I've got a million ideas for redoing their offices.

Power to the people who are powerful enough to crush the other people! -jossy.

Hey guys, just bought and finished the Firefly series and Serenity yesterday. Another "3 dayer". Anyways, I, like many of you wanted to know if they plan on bringing back the show, got excited then kicked in the taint after reading the post.
Then I sat back and reread it. If you look at his above phrasing, he just about out and tells you the show will come back. I am the pretty pessamistic but this looked good to me.
Also the you guys have the Kristen whoever she is from E!'s quote wrong. This is from her site, read it closely.

From junglejen9: Firefly. You gotta spill it if you have any additional info, please!
I've heard the CW is considering bringing it back as a series, miniseries or movie for next season. Hurrah! For you who missed my message board posting, on Tuesday, Nate Fillion, Summer Glau and Gina Torres were seen coming out of one of the exec buildings at Paramount, where they are putting together the new CW unit.

If you picked it up it says they were coming out of a exec building ON Paramount, not a CW building. Thats just where they will be housed.
Keep the faith guys, be proud you got the movie made by sheer will and love of the show.
I hope I hear more good news in the future.

Don't know about the rest of of you, but there's no place I can be...

You just made my day! I DO believe we'll get a sequel or something, but you reminded me that we have each other. Thank you.

NUCLEARDAY

Oh wow, we've got new recruits just popping out of the woodwork these days, got a keep a close eye out lately. ;p

Welcome to our little Haven here Onizuka. You wanna make an official post of your recent entry here, I'm sure all sorts of folks'll drop by and issue your browncoat, cook you some food, and let you know we're wierd ;p

I like your outlook, and with all these other posts, good to have someone point that out about Kristen's quote; what with the sighting being at a Paramount building and all. Still not sure if she's pulling it out of her or not, but I'll figure the glass is half full for the time being.

Anyways, always shiny to see a new face out here in the black. Don't be a stranger, now, ya hear? :P

Wow, we now have a term coined! A "3 dayer". I like that!!

Welcome to the 'verse Onizuka! We're very glad to have you.

And you are right, it does say Paramount and Joss' post does shoot down any word from CW right now, but it doesn't say anything ( despite it's jokiness) about not doing the series or a movie or something.

We'll hold and wait.

SAZMAN

Well, this is my first post, as well!

Sign me up as a new Browncoat!

The funny thing is that I had been a raving Buffy/Angel/Joss fan for years. I missed the few first episodes of Firefly when it aired, and caught about half of one ("Out of Gas") later on. That is not the best episode for an intro, so I never really gave it too much more thought.

Then, a few weeks ago, my brother was raving to me about how fantastic the series is, so I gave it a try, bought the DVD set, and have nearly finished all the episodes now.

Utterly brilliant, and I can't imagine how I lived without this show before! I have a few more episodes to finish, and the Serenity film to watch (I already have the DVD). A truly amazing vision!

As for its future, well, Joss is being Joss! His stereotypical humorous approach is actually a good sign, and he's gone on record as saying (quote), "I'm never not going to be interested" in making more films, a new series, etc. It's a question of being asked to do it by the right people, network, etc. Clearly, he didn't say everything he wanted to say about this universe.

My guess is that there will at least be more TV movies, miniseries, etc., on CW, Sci-Fi, whatever, at some point.

What really annoys me is that, if Fox hadn't cancelled it, we'd be in the fourth season by now, well past 75 episodes. (sobs)

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'll be holding and waiting. Time to watch the series again...

3 dayers, I love it! Good job Onizuka and Noname!

And yay more for everyone's positivity! This CW rumor thing was so negative at first. Bring on the rumors, even the false ones! It's so amusing and doesn't scare me a bit - one of the rumors will be right one of these days.

I had a similar experience. I caught part of "Our Mrs Reynolds" when it originally aired. It didn't grab me then so that was all I saw. I didn't become a fan until I saw a few complete episodes when it started airing on Scifi channel.

I was similar in the sense that I was a huge Buffy/Angel fan, but for some reason never watched Firefly. Dunno, maybe the whole spaceship thing was offputting. I also didn't watch Fox a whole lot in those days, though.

As for this whole letter writing thing, I'll get mine out as soon as I can; I'm all excited now.
