I beleive it was, yes.

Considered buying a PSP just so I could watch the BDM at will.

yeah, it's worth it...movies look great, even on the small screen. The picture looks almost like HD. You really do need earbuds to hear though.

Released the same day as the DVD (12/20/05), picked up one of each for myself.

Been playing it in the background in my cubicle at least once a week since then.

Wouldn't it be cheaper for someone who doesn't own a PSP, to just go out and buy one of those portable DVD players with the built in LCD screen? The prices have really dropped, you can use any DVD already in your collection, and the sceen tends to be twice a big (depending on model).

I've watched a few episodes of Battlestar on my video iPod, and frankly, the screen on it and on the PSP is just too small for my tastes. At least with the iPod, you can feed the video and audio to a regular tv. Not sure if a PSP can do that.

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

Pretty much the reason I didn't get a PSP. I only really play games at home, and I have PS2 and XBox for that. And since there's only 1 PSP game I'm really interested in (GTA), I decided to pass, and will be getting a much more affordable portable DVD player.

Besides, they don't have Revenge of the Sith on UMD (said just to rile all the prequel-haters.... and 'cause I dig that movie too).

Just as a follow-up:

Just read in Variety that the studios are going to start scaling back the movies offered on UMD, as sales have been much lower than expected, and are still falling. Apparently, they are going to focus on comedy UMD's, as they are currently selling the best.

In an effort to counteract the fall in sales, Sony is going to release an adapter that allows you to plug your PSP into your TV.

Been muttering about the lack of PSP video output since I found out that the video iPod could do that.

Not surprised that they're scaling back on UMD releases, although I did pick up abut 6 UMD movies since I bought my PSP.

Ohhhh that's a video format. I thought you meant, University of Minnesota at Duluth. AKA, Evil.
Their women's hockey team fans are hugely boorish and chant U M D ! U M D ! U M D ! for endless minutes when the bulldogs (they ain't called 'beauties' for a reason) score.
Of course, the majority of their team is European, so whenever they do score, the responding chant is, USA! USA! USA!
Thank goodness you weren't talking about evil, but rather, discussing video formats.

Thanks for the responses. I was busy most of the day yesterday and didn't have a chance to view the posts - Knibblet, I didn't think of the UMD Bulldogs when i said UMD - but i know how annoying some of those chants can be, the Florida Seminoles war chat comes to mind....

About the PSP - there are ways to save a movie or any dvd to a memory card and play it that way - but i want to keep investing in Firefly & Serenity to keep the corporate money hogs aware of the fans who want more of the BDS.

It's all about the money - why else would there be so many low brow reality shows on the airwaves - they must attract a large audience - Personally, i really dislike what has happened to the entertainment industry in this country.....like we really need another "Fattest, Loser, Celebrity, Dancing with a Wife Swapping Ice Skater....who can't sing" Show......

and i pay Dish network for this crap.....

please bring back Firefly - or at least tv programing that dosen't insult our intelligence.....
