GRIMJACK21502

Browncoatghost & ThousandCuts welcome aboard soldiers!

FollowMal will be along directly to cover those shoulders with an symbolic Browncoat (officially you both have ALWAYS been Browncoats...but like me you didn't know it till you saw Serenity fly).

This board/ship consists of all manner of people but the underlying quality of them all lies with belief.

Everytime we see new reinforcements arrive, the closer we get to having Captain Mal and the rest of our friends back.

Take a seat, have something to eat, and get to know the rest of the crew...and when you're ready meet us on the line.

...and don't fire to you see the color of their coats.

We will hold...we hold till Mal gets back.

I too am a latecomer to the scene, and also share the sediment of missing out on a great show when it was on the air, only to see the Movie, then retroactively go back and see the series. And to that I say damn, I missed some fine television back there.

Woah, there partner, one to a customer, till I can get the misses to whip up some more. She's a fine woman, but she'd tar my hide if I had her baking all day. We share chores and frankly I don't want cause to up my already considerable load ;)

*looks back at the prettiest lady he's ever seen, trying on his crisp new Browncoat*

Sigh....like much of everything else I got, it's part hers....looks like I'll be needing a replacement. FollowMal? If you all aim to get more cookies, I'm gonna be needing a new one. *Blush*

Hail and well met comrade!

There aren't any latecomers...you are here now, and that's all that matters.

Make no mistake, we are in a dog fight to get our crew flyin' again, but with the reinforcements coming by the shuttle-load...well we can give them one hell of a fight.

V, sit back and take it all in...these people are the best you'll find in all the 'verse, and when you're ready, join us on the line.

I only took one. Promise. Honest! The chocolatey stuff all over my hands was from a highly nutritious low-calorie chocolate-coated breakfast bar that went real well with the cookie. It's just, that was like you know, the last cookie. So I felt kind of responsible.

Browncoatghost & ThousandCuts, and V.

Three new recruits sneaking in right under my nose. Has GrimJack been showing you 'round the ship? Don't believe what he says about me. It's all lies. Well, most of it's lies. Ok maybe only one or two lies.

Since the promotion, FollowMal's been sharing the workload with me and I've been helping myself liberally to her store of pics of the Cap'n. Cause, you know, he needed them for something...

ANYWAYS

*heads to the back of the storeroom and opens a box or two*

Here we are!

*flips the wrinkles off of three neat and crisp browncoats and hands them out one by one*

We're glad to have the reinforcements. Recruits have been pouring in daily and we're handing out these things like there's no tomorrow!

If you're hungry, Char sui and some rice is on the table in the galley. Grab a plate and don't be shy.

Did Kaele give your wife a Browncoat too, Mc1csmo?

This thread is so delightful I lost track whether that detail was taken care of by my second in command of the storeroom. If not, here ya be

*shakes out another browncoat and proudly hands it over* if you've shared yours with her, then heres one for you...

We are so happy to have you here and I know you will find this a happy home. This thread is proof!

Thanks to Kaele for filling in for me while I was indisposed ( read: taking care of RL stuff) and GrimJack for being our point man. He knows how to rally the troops... makes me get all excited like.

Thanks to Bun for the delicious strawberries... yum. And choc. chip cookies are my fave and tell your wife, Mc1csmo that her cookies are fine !

I like a clever Browncoat... you are a fine addition to our ranks, BrowncoatGhost. Glad to see that Kaele got you a 'coat. Not so sure on the liberal helping herself to the pics of the Cap'n. I think that promotion has gone to that girls head. And why exactly would our cap'n be needin' pics of his ownself? Hmmm, me thinks Kaele needed some for her ownself. Must remember to ask her about this.

I read your thread additions over on the making a Firefly religion thread and I must say, BrowncoatGhost, Mrs. Fillion taught you English well. You are quite talented with words. I can't help but hope that perhaps you might pen us some fanfic to ease our weary waiting as Browncoats?!

And kiwi.... quite a purchase.. you ARE a clever Browncoat. A new hat for trade... I like that.

Kaele, I must say you are doin' a fine job as assistant storeroom clerk.... you haven't missed a one of these new recruits... really you are doin' great......

I'm sorta in a quandary here, as I don't wanna gripe when I couldn't have done without you...but there's this little matter of some missin' pics. How come is it everytime I leave you in charge of the storeroom, my Mal pics are rifled thru and mussed up? Now availing your ownself of lookin' at them... well, that is irresistible and understandable. But there are a few missin' pics, and did I read that the Cap'n wanted some for himself? Are you sure about that fact... cuz I figger he'd a asked me about that...

I'm sure you'll fill me in on this when you report?

Why, thank you! I've had a writing Muse since I was about 7 or so, and Mrs. Fillion made a point of encouraging her to come out of the parchment room more often. She had a way of making the course material very interesting, I'll say -- extremely funny lady. Though her Classroom That Was is fifteen years gone, I've never forgotten her ways. I now write some and edit lots for a partial living. As for fanfic, hmmm...I've written fanfic before, just not for this 'verse, and it hadn't occurred to me to do some. I'll have to see what yonder Muse thinks.

Also got him a real silkworm-spun tie. It brightens up his very fancy jacket, though he can only wear it in attempts to impress fancier people. Oh well.

Ditto. I've had shows that I liked, even shows that I'd try to schedule my time around so's not to miss 'em... but never a show that made me want to join a fan site just to talk about how freaking great it was. Until Firefly broke atmo and landed in my little neck of the 'verse.

And, like many, I found it late. Last summer, to be exact, just a couple months before the movie came out. When I saw the first commercial for the BDM on my TV, I was just about jumping out of my chair with glee. I couldn't belive it was actually happening - this ship, this crew that I loved so dearly and missed so much (and after such a short time together)... it was flying again!

Oh, and if we're all out of cookies and strawbs again, I might be able to whip up a little treat: chocolate-dipped strawberries. If you've never had them, they're... sublime (and not in the "they're beneath limes" sense!). I'm all out of cookies, but maybe I could trade some Fruity-Oaty Bars for a new brown coat. I think mine got lost in the mail. ;)

To all the newcomers, latecomers, and those who just came in "fashionably late" (like me): Welcome Home. This is one of the shiniest places in the 'verse, with the best gorram people you'd ever want on your ship. It doesn't matter when you got here; how you got here is the worthier part. And that you got here is the worthiest part indeed.

Hi there,

Just wanted to say I'm a fairly new Browncoat too (visted this site many times now, but this is the first time I've posted anything though!) - discovered the series when I heard about the film coming out - was recommended by a friend who I now can't thank enough.

Loved the series so much I dragged all my other friends in by buying them Firefly (and Serenity when it came out) and now they all love it too.

Wanted to say how much I've enjoyed reading the post on this site, and to say thanks for making us all feel so welcome here.

Like everybody else, I'm holding out and not giving up hope that we'll get another visit to the 'verse. But it's so good to come here and see the love that people have, to know I'm not alone in this feeling or this hope.

Let's keep fighting the good fight, and fingers crossed we'll all be back on that ship one day...

The good news is I recently saw our local WHSMITH had totally sold out of Serenity, and our local HMV has sold out of Firefly several times over in the past few months. Word is spreading - slowly but surely.

Let's see if i can get back into the swing of things.

Welcome here, we're weird.

You know about DVDs, you know about holding the line, so I guess all that's left to say is that it's about time you spoke up.

We're family, you're part of it, but we didn't know until now. We couldn't say, "Welcome home." So thanks for saying something, stick around and say more stuff, your coat will be delievered soon and if it's anything like mine it'll be great.

*admires the fit*

So anyway, welcome home.

We're very glad to have you. Please post often, we love to hear the stories and we love to talk.

Gotta say, you know Firefly's something gorram special when (aside from being the most intelligent, witty, well written and well-scripted show in the 'verse) it can bring so many people together like this.

This is truly the niceset place to visit along with the Oz site this is one place I visit rgularly since finding Serenity late in 2004, and if Kaele can find a very lightweight sunprotection factor of about 45 browncoat anywhere and can spare it I would be ever so appreciative. It is damn hot out here on the rim, but I am gradually finding folks to join the crew, three and counting.
*Blows nose cause all choked up*, sorry about the noise.
*Goes to eat frozen mango ice, there are four left if any one wants to share.*

FollowMal: Thanks a ton for the coat. Wouldn't ya know it, it fits great!

There might be lots of fansites out there for us Browncoats, and we're all headed to the same destination, but for me, how we get there is the worthier part. That's why I'm comin' with you! Well, that and because this ship's the nicest.

I'll try to keep the crew supplied with goodies as best I can. Ain't easy out here in the black, and Badger does drive a hard bargain. Might be able to get more out of 'im if I had a very fine hat to trade him... Sad little kings DO like their hats!

Kaele is off duty tonight I think, so if it's ok, I think I'll rummage around and try to find you that lightweight browncoat.

Greetings, AkuKodogo.
Mango ice sounds good, but it's trifle cold here in strawberry land. Put one in the freezer for me for a few months, eh?
Meanwhile, enjoy the company. I do.

PS FollowMal, I've lost my link for gossi's board with Appreciatin' Nathan on it. Embarrassing, since I've been registered so long! Can you supply? TQVM!

Wow, Mc1cmso, you started one heck of a thread.

Sometimes, I start wondering if I'm the only crazy out there who still believes, and then I see a thread like this. It's inspiring. The Browncoat Revolution is growing every day. We will have our Big Damn Trilogy!

Y'know, there's a story I've always loved about how King Alfred the Great trained an army in secrecy while his country was occupied and he was on the run. On Easter Sunday, they rallied, seemingly out of nowhere, and started driving the Danes out of Wessex.

It's going to be like that. We're going to hit critical mass with so many Firefly fans that our show will rise again, in some form or another. We just have to keep believing, and keep recruiting.

For you newer recruits, let me point you toward a site that is all about holding the line: www.BrowncoatsRiseAgain.com

On a different subject:

Not to gripe, FollowMal, but do you think you could spare a coat for the guy who wrote "The Ballad of Joss"?

Bun,

Here it is, and I'm real excited you will be joining us, it's so much fun over there and it's always nice to visit over there and then come home over here and yack about it.

Hey, if you love our Cap'n as much as I do, I'm going to post a pic from Slither and some quotes from my SciFi Magazine up in a thread later today, after I figure out how to do it without doing something wrong.

Wish it was pics from the making of Serenity:II, but I'll take 'em.

I'll see you over there at the A.N. thread.

Oh, Cedric, I would be honored to give you a browncoat!

*hands Cedric a shiny new browncoat and bows with respect to the man who wrote The Ballad of Joss*

You sir, are awesome! And I love your music and I'm going to play it in rotation with other Firefly music in my shop so my customers can hear it and be inspired. I can't wait to get my copy!
We shall rise again, the Browncoat Revolution is upon us!

I have to admit, not knowing that much history I didn't know about King Alfred and his army against the Danes, but I have often thought what you said.. that all of a sudden there will be so many of us, that TPTB will have to listen to us.
We'll make 'em.

Keep makin' that music Cedric, and we Browncoats and the world will keep listenin'!

Go, Fort Worth! You're just up the road from me. In fact, we played ConDFW last weekend.

SAVEWASH

Now I am learning about scary.

How did I miss this thread before???

One of the things I really love about this place is how thoughtful and articulate folks are! Everyone is made to feel welcome and everyone has the most fascinating things to say. I'm impressed that while I think, "Gee, I love Firefly," others find much better ways to explain exactly what they love about the show & characters, and to point out to me all kinds of things I would otherwise have missed about the BDM and all of the episodes.

Welcome to all new Browncoats and thank you to everyone at FireflyFans.net!

P.S. Thanks for all of the yummy food, too!

Shiny! Actually heard about you guys(Bards) yesterday at a FireflyDFW lunch shindig...I'll be ordering your highly recommended CD this week.

As for converting the wife, well, she likes the show, but hasn't quite caught Browncoat Fever. I'll keep working her, but will probably have to work a compromise and become a Pottercoat. (I like the HP movies but haven't read the books). Such is marriage.

And BTW, thanks for putting out a CD in the first place...it's 'Coats like you that really seem to go the extra, extra, extra mile in the Fight to Re-Light our Big Damn Show!

Stay shiny...
