You know the type that would not touch a movie called "Serenity" with a 10-foot pole. Show
them this.

Maybe they will think again about watching Serenity. Also you can give a Vin Diesel
fan this as a present and it counts as a purchase of Serenity.

Lucky, I used copy and paste. I thought his name was Van.

:D
Actually, the three die-hard Vin fans that I know leapt head-over-heals into Serenity.
But then, they were all women who just like Vin for his biceps.
(Can you blame them?)

Vin Diesel is a self confessed D&D geek. I saw him rambling about his character in a game on Conan O'Brien. I doubt there are many fans of his that wouldn't already be interested in Serenity. But for those few, Good catch!

Wait... there are Vin Diesel fans?

It's insulting for Serenity to be packaged with that crap.

I do not think Mal would mind if it gets the job done. And the job is reaching the billions of people who never even heard of Serenity or were turned off for some reason.

Zoe would back the Captain.

I think Jayne would not mind either because he would see a percentage in it. I bet they would become good friends until Jayne stabbed Vin/Riddick in the back.

Wash, Simon, Book and Inara would probably agree with you.

Kaylee would try to make friends as usual. Not sure how Vin/Riddick would react back.

Now River...

True, but what does that have to do with the 10 people who actually liked Chronicles of Riddick? Probably would end up turning more people away by just associating Serenity with something of that quality.

I haven't seen CoR, but hell, it has to be better than The freakin' Hulk.

Chronicles of Riddick was a fun movie, the theatrical release, at least. I don't like the director's cut. I like Pitch Black a whole lot better, Riddick was a better character in Pitch Black.

I found Riddick to be extremely underrated. It was a decently fleshed out scifi flick that didn't overdo the action.

I agree I thought CoR was a pretty good movie. It had everything i expect from a SciFi movie: sick fight scenes, some sort of plot, and takes you away into another verse. Although if you start comparing CoR to the BDM its not even a contest.

Pitch Black wasn't a bad movie. It had funny, though somewhat overused, characters. Everyone had their problems, their quirks, and no one was the perfect hero.
More importantly, they didn't change to fit the plot. "But there was no plot!" you cry. Yeah, well, it was a horror flick. Little bit of unusual event to get people alone with scary monster, let the mayhem follow. Ok, so it really didn't have too much of a plot, per se. That's often times better than bad plots.
Besides, there was that really cool scene when the guy spits the alcohol over the flame, illuminating the monsters about to kill him.

Chronicles on the Riddick wasn't terrible either. The Necro-villianess and her husband were terrible actors, and obviously little Shakespeare theivery was happening, but that's the worst of the movie. As I said, I'm going from the theatrical release, not the director's cut. I don't like the added scenes, too much information and the wrong times. We don't need to be bombarded with what was already subtley hinted at quite well.

Anyways, Chronicles of Riddick had a solid, but non-linear plot. What do I mean by non-linear? It wasn't Lord of the Rings style. We got a ring, must destroy it. When it's destroyed story is over. I like how the characters react in the moment to what is happening, have changing motives and desires. So, I mean the plot was fluid.

Most importantly, Riddick is bad ass. I loved his lines in Pitch Black, thought they definately went overboard in the cheesy-dumb-badass lines in Chronicles. "It's half a gram to heavy in the hilt"

Pitch Black: 7/10
Chronicles of Riddick: 6/10
Serenity: 10/10
Starship Troopers 2: 20/0.000000000001

I thought Pitch Black was better then CoR...

I saw Pitch Black on TV after I saw CoR in the theaters. I was bored one night in Chicago on a buisness trip and had no idea what it was other than the movie poster out front.

All I could think after watching CoR was 'Conan with lasers...' Right down to him sitting on the throne at the end with the voiceover ponderings. It felt totaly ripped off of Conan to me. Not that that's necessarily all that bad if you like Conan movies . Just not very original.

I tried to look down on Vin Diesel. Then The Pacifier came out. I didn't laugh that hard again until Serenity hit screens.

At this point, yeah, I consider myself a fan.

He'd be great in Firefly. I can see Badger hiring him on as a thug (kinda like Crow), then it turns out he's way smarter than Badger, and he pretty much ends up running Badger's operation.

Think Jayne's looks, Mal's wit, and Zoe's badassitude.

I agree -- and never would've thought of it, myself. He'd be an interesting opponent to our Browncoats -- although, I can't see him being Alliance -- more likely as you said above, some thug who outsmarts his superiors.

Can't see him as a browncoat, either. More of a general "I do what I want!" kinda guy.

It says "COMING SOON
Preorder this item today and it should arrive on or just after 04/25/2006 "

I wonder if that means anything? I just checked a Walmart today and they had two Full Screen Serenity and no Widescreen. Been out of widescreen for a while at that store. Does this preorder two-pack mean that Walmart is going to restock Serenity in the stores...or is this just an on-line thing.

I looked at the cover and it did not say anything about a special edition and Serenity looks the same as the current widescreen.

Why would there be a two-pack set to come out in April?

It's a two for one deal. Serenity plus Chronicles of Riddick. Why they chose to sell these two particular films together I have no clue.

Yes, but the Serenity/Hulk two-pack came out at Walmart with the Serenity DVD release back in December. Why would another two-pack come out in April...is there something new Serenity coming out in April or what? Did Walmart just say to Universal...give us another two-pack to sell online?

Why the wait for April? Aren't their enough Serenity Riddick DVDs in a warehouse? Can't they just slap them together if someone orders one?

I think Universal picks the 2nd DVD based on some sort of very general category and what DVD have enough of and the color scheme.

Hulk green...Serenity cover blue. Blue and green go together.

Serenity cover at bottom brown...Riddick cover brown. It is an art thing.

IMO (In my opinion)

Probably don't want too many different packages out at the same time. So they wait until april to release another.
