Hey all of you Texas Browncoats...I've created a shiny Texas Browncoats map on Frappr at:

http://www.frappr.com/texasbrowncoats

Put yourself on the map if you have the urge.

Also, to you Fort Worth/Tarrant County 'Coats out there in the 'verse, go join the new Fort Worth Browncoats group I created on Yahoo at:

www.fortworthbrowncoats.com

...also if you get the urge.

I'm organizing a weekly Browncoat Mudder's Milk Shindig starting Wednesday, March 15, at the downtown FW Flying Saucer. It's on the Fort Worth group calendar and the FireflyDFW calendar if you want more info.

Hope to see you there!

Forgot to mention that I created what I call a "hub" site at:

www.texasbrowncoats.com

I put a link to the shiny new Houston site on there last week. The hub site isn't anything fancy, just a cheap, one page option from Register.com. Works ok for a Texas "hub" site on the cortex

Love the new Houston site BTW...

Nothing wrong with Yahoo groups...happen to like 'em myself. In fact, the FW group is a Yahoo group.

Hey everyone!

I was excited to see this thread, because my husband and I just found out (about 95% sure, but you never know with the military) that we are moving to San Antonio this summer, probably June-ish. We don't know much about the area, but we can't wait to get down there. Are there many Browncoats close to the San Antonio area? (From what I understand, Dallas is about 5 hours away, right?)

Anyway, I think Texas will be a great place to spend a few years (although Colorado Springs, where we are now, will be hard to top =)) Hope to meet some of you down there!

Thanks for the welcome! That shindig sounds...well, downright shiny. We would LOVE to come to something like that. I haven't really met too many Browncoats out here, so I've had to convert a few myself to fill the need. Still, never been to any kind of Shindig.

Hopefully we'll have found a house by then, so we can go. (crosses fingers and toes)

I aim to misbehave :D

Welcome in advance to Texas and to San Antonio. You'll love it! I've lived here all my life and can't imagine being anywhere else. I run the local group, Alamo City Browncoats. We're still trying to work on times and places to meet but I know it'll work out. We'd be happy to have you and your husband join us. I can also put in contact with some other fans...namely SW Shame y'all won't be here for the city wide shindig called Fiesta...hehe

Again...WELCOME to the Alamo City!

Thanks for the invite to join you guys (and gals), Mel. That's nice that there's enough browncoats down there to qualify as a "group", and we'd love to meet with you all. Hopefully, we'll be settled in pretty quickly. We're going on a short house-hunting trip in May, so maybe we'll already have a house ready when we actually move down in June. But we could certainly stand to have some friends in the area. I can't wait to see all the fun stuff in San Antonio (you guys have your own Sea World? How cool is that?). It looks to be a good place to live, maybe excepting the summertime death-heat I've heard so much about.

Jonestein,

I added my pin--the first for Pine Valley, Texas, even though I've recruited most of my neighbors. Heck, I made most of my neighbors play on the Big Damn Album. :-)

Melgo, do you mind if I join the San Antonio Browncoat Yahoo group? Living in Bastrop County, I get to run down to the Alamo City from time to time.

And for all the rest of you, I hope you'll excuse two little plugs:

First, come check out the Excalibur Fantasy Faire near Lockhart! It's our first year on the new site, and it's lots and lots of fun. There are a surprising number of incognito Browncoats hanging out there, too, and there's a good chance we might sing a few Firefly songs. Some we don't sing on stage at faire, but we can always step behind a booth.

Second, come support the Lonestar Shindig at Apollocon this summer. I know from first-hand experience that our hosts the Houston Browncoats are a bunch of really fun, shiny people, so I bet this event is going to be a blast and a half! California has the Flanvention, and we can't allow The Great State of Texas to be outdone by the land of fruits, nuts, and flakes (and I say that affectionately while dodging mugs hurled by my Californian wife).

Keep flyin',

Cedric

Moving to San Antonio. My advice, buy a road map now, study the road map. You'll find out why when you get there. Otherwise a a great town, I love it out there.
And welcome to Texas.

Hey all! I must thank Jonestein for the head's up. I'd posted on here when I first started the group but never heard from any others save the few of my converts. I'm glad Jonestein knocked some sense into me.

Meimeimeg, the heat is wild. I affectionately refer to it as San Antonio, A.K.A. Hell's waiting room...hehe But seriously, there are so many great things about this city that make you forget about the heat and humidity. I'm sure you all will love it.

Hey Cedric, we would be honored to have a Bedlam Bard in our lil' group. Please feel free to join up. I loved hearing music from the new CD on The Signal. You guys are awesomely SHINY!

The same goes for any non-San Antonians. Please join Alamo City Browncoats. We love meeting fellow Browncoats.

Well, already changed the venue for next week's Weekly Shindig(Wed March 22). The Saucer is just too gorram crowded on Wed night because they give away beer glasses, so next week we're hooking up at the downtown FW Fox & Hound around the corner from the Saucer.

Just look for the weirdo playing with plastic dinosaurs, wearing either a Blue Sun shirt or an insolent Family Guy t-shirt w/Wash-like Hawaiian shirt.

Feel free to add events you want to plug on the Fort Worth Browncoats calendar ( www.fortworthbrowncoats.com) and the Texas Browncoats calendar ( www.texasbrowncoats.com).

Both groups are pretty new so there are not alot of members yet, but they will grow eventually and a plug is a plug.

If you haven't pinned yourself to our Texas Browncoats map on frappr, here's the link again:

Also, DFW 'Coats, come on out to the downtown Fort Worth Fox & Hound tonight (Wed, March 29) for our weekly Mudder's Milk Shindig.

Last week, we discovered that our waitress was an extra in "Jaynestown" as one of the mudders. It was pretty dang shiny!
