Hi I’m a script writer and here are my thoughts for some plots for a possible season 2 of firefly,

Plot One
Season 2 would start off where the movie left, I’d have River as Serenity’s new pilot, and she would be able to use her special abilities to fly like the wind (like Wash was a leaf on the wind). I’d have Zoe pregnant with Wash’s baby (because in the episode “HEART OF GOLD” they both argued about it). I’d have the relationship between Mal and Inara still on the will they wont they phase. I’d have the relationship between Kaylee and Simon build and have the strain of Simon’s over protection of River. I’d leave Wash and Shepherd dead (but they’d still be in the show due to flash backs)

Plot Two
As the same as Plot One but with one difference, half way through season 2 in a episode called “CRYOGENICS or CRYO” either Mal and the rest of the crew on serenity come across a ship in deep space that has a small electrical reading they go on board and find two cryo box‘s (like the 1 River was in, in the TV pilot) they open one and it has a scientific doctor that works for the alliance and is someone Simon knows that lead the research in cryogenic’s and cloning, during the course of the episode the doctor refuses to let Mal open the other Cryo Box, the doctor also sees a picture of Wash and starts asking questions this makes Zoe mad, forcing Mal to open the other Cryo box and the episode would end there with an over head short looking into the box, in it is Wash, part 2 of this episode would be the crew of serenity finding out about the Cryo Wash and why there is a clone of him. The reason is because Wash didn’t fight in the war, he was going to but because of his abilities at flying, the independence government enrolled Wash in a cloning program to have better pilots for the war.
The other possibility is that there is only 1 Cryo box with the doctor in it (same as above but with the difference that when the doctor sees the photo of Wash he tells them he’s seen him before during his tests, and during the end of season 2 (maybe 10 episode’s long) the crew of Serenity going searching for Wash.

Plot Three
Same as either Plot One or Plot Two but with the back drop of maybe a second war between the Independence and the alliance

Oh and how about during the course on the season it would go into more about Shepherd’s past, maybe there’s more to him then meets the eye

As I say these are just my thought’s, maybe there good, maybe they suck :)
You could always post feedback on my ideas as a writer people’s thought on my work are always appreciated

Bearing in mind that the best writing I've managed is very bad fanfic, these are my thoughts.

I like the first plot, in part, but not the second. I don't like the idea of bringing Wash back as a clone. I'm not even sure why I don't like it, but I don't. I don't think it would work.

I would prefer to have both characters appearing every now and then as part of River's tortured mind. Granted, she's a lot more stable at the end of Serenity than she's been before, but she can still see into everyone's thoughts, and I'm sure Book and Wash will be on the minds of all the crew. Anyone who's seen Joss' previous shows knows that he explores death and grief a lot in his work, and that he isn't afraid to throw in something very left field. I imagine him doing something like having Wash sitting next to Zoe or standing quietly behind her, while none of the characters besides River seem to notice. This would happen every now and then for the first few episodes, just to show how much Zoe is grieving, and how Wash is in her thoughts.

One of River's symptoms is that she has trouble telling the difference between what's in people's heads and what's actually happening. I can see this being a great way to bring Wash and Book into the show on a regular basis, without bringing them back literally.

I'm not sold on the Zoe pregnancy thing either. It would be a really strong story for as long as the pregnancy lasted, but sooner or later those kids start to grow up and the darn things just end up being cheesy and cute. I've never seen a three year old character work well in a show. I'm willing to be proved wrong though - anyone got any examples I might not know about?

Yeah, and he can tell her what the Cylons are planning!

(Just kidding. I think it could work, but you'd have to be very careful to make it new and different rather than just a retread of ground BSG's been walking for two seasons now)

I agree that a clone of Wash wouldn't work very well. A clone is just the same as having an identicle twin - sure, they look the same, but it's not the same person. Other than that your ideas sound great.

I put a few of my ideas on there. I also mentioned where I had heard about Book possibly being a clone.

I don't suppose your scripts will make it to Joss Whedon will they?

i see your point on not bring Wash back as a clone, it was just a thought for all those people that didn't like it that Wash and Shepherd where killed off in the movieof bring Wash back, How about Zoe having the baby but the alliance or Blue Sun kidnapping it

i'd love it if he got a script from me and liked it but as he doesn't read these posts and i wouldn't know the first place to sending him a script plus the fact that unless they got the go to make season 2 it prob would just be something good to past the time :)

I think Zoe should definitely be pregnant. I think it would be funny to see her all hormonal. You're right though, that it would leave a rather awkward direction for her. It almost has to end up with her either losing the baby or her leaving the ship. So it's risky. I'm a bit of a writer myself, but I have a lot of other projects I'm working on right now, and I've never even tried script writing.

I think Wash is dead for good. I also agree that we don't want a baby on Serenity. If Zoe is pregnant I hope it's just leading up to her losing the baby somehow and more character development dealing with it.

As for the clone idea the only way I see that working is with Book. He could have been someone important enough to be cloned. Heck maybe our Book was the clone. Would be interesting to find out that the real Book is still in his not so nice phase. The crew could run across him and come to the rude awakening that this guy is their enemy, not their friend. They could eventually find out Book's past and eventually kill off the evil Book. Thus resolving the storyline we're all curious about.

thats a good idea or how about Shepherd being either a Senator of the Alliance or maybe he could have been the lead Scientist on the River project and he came on to serenity to study and observe River's powers
