I was watching Angel the other day "Waiting in the Wings" and realized the balleria was Summer. I can't believe I never noticed this before, I think its because I haven't seen that episode in a long time before I got into Firefly. I just thought it was funny I never noticed this and I always thought I recognized Summer from something else could never figure it out.

I was considering posting something about this too, but you beat me to it! I was watching this episode of Angel on TNT this morning and noticed Summer also... playing the part of**drum roll please** A Dancer! What a stretch...

I've been going in the opposite direction with Whedon, having gotten hooked by Firefly and Serenity and then moving backward. I've been enjoying the Angel series a lot lately.

Ok, I feel better. I'm not the only one working backwards. I saw Serenity first, then Firefly, and am now up to the second season of Angel. Well, just finished it. Which season is Summer Glau in?

It's pretty much the same for me. I also saw Serenity, then Firefly. TNT is currently in the middle of season 3 (out of 5) of Angel, which is where the "Waiting In The Wings" episode comes in.

Yeah, I've seen roughly half of Angel, so I'm anxious to see the rest. What a pity Firefly never had a chance for all of Whedon's twists and turns.

Since I started with Angel then Buffy I got to see all of the great things that is Joss. Angel had so many good story lines and twist, but firefly has so much potential if it was allowed to go more seasons just look how good the movie and half of a season was. I would have loved to see some of Joss's twist for Firefly. Never know maybe we still will sometime in the future.

Should I watch all the Angel and Buffy episodes in reverse order?

Probably not. If you watch the eps backwards you get the benefit of seeing Nathan and Adam on Buffy and Angel (respectively) first, but if you really want to experience the Buffy/Angel 'verse, I'd recommend starting from the begining.

This was her first Wedonverse gig... Mr Whedon talks about seeing her dance, hearing her accents, and also immediately wanting her for Firefly.

Smart guy, that Josh fellah.

I dunno if it was just me, but I was very impressed w/ Summer and her accents. Whether in Angel or Serenity, she just seems to impress in so many ways.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

I just saw this episode tonight (I had tivoed it). She was really great with that accent. IMDB listed that as her first role, which is surprising considering how good she was.

The ballet world has so many Russians that Summer has probably been hearing the accent for most of her life. Joss hadn't decided whether the ghosty ballerina should be English or Russian during the audition process so she had to try out with both. I do think Russian worked out better for the ballerina role, because, well, the very few things I know about ballet are all connected to Russians so I was sold on it!

Plus - the ballet company and the Director (creepy obsessed guy) were supposed to be Russian - so it would make sense for her to be Russian too.

What the heck, I will post this little tidbit. The guy who played the creepy Russian director is also the same actor who played Milos on Seinfeld, the tennis club pro shop owner who was REALLY BAD at tennis.
