I've only recently seen the movie and the series on DVD... How does Shepherd Book get to Haven? Is the info. in the new graphic novel?

No, but the comic does address his decision to leave.

Welcome, by the way!

Thanks for the info. I'll be ordering that book soon, I'm sure! And thanks for the welcome. I held off on the series because I missed the first few eps when they originally aired. Once I knew the movie was coming out, I thought I'd start with that. Saw it a couple of weeks ago and have been on a Firefly binge ever since! My son just asked me yesterday, "Are you watching those again?" YUP!

Yes, we've all had our own binges. Have you seen the R. Tam Sessions yet? They were a bit of viral marketing put out during the lead up to the movie release. You can see them at www.session416.com .

Thanks for directing me to the R. Tam sessions. Very cool. I ordered my copy of the Serenity graphic novel today... Anything else I'm missing out on?

Well, I think you've pretty much got it covered now, at least as far as what's considered 'canon'. There is, of course, a bunch of additional merchandise to be found - most of which Haken has links to on Amazon from the front 'home' page here.

Of those, I most highly recommend the Serenity Visual Companion. It contains the shooting script, an indepth interview with Joss, and production memos for the film, not to mention lots of concept art, stills, and story-boards. Very insightful.

They are going to do more graphic novels (or comic books, whichever is the preferred term,) aren't they?

I'd just like to second the 'Visual Companion' recommendation - an excellent read.

I also really like both the 'Firefly' and 'Serenity' soundtrack cds. They don't provide more story, of course, but they're very pleasant to have playing while I'm doing other things around the house.
