I go to Kennesaw State University in GA (second largest in the state w/ 20,000 students, go Owls!!) anyway this weeks newspaper had an article about the Top 10 Television Show DVD Sets of ALL Time, and right there amongst Simpsons and Seinfeld, was Firefly. Buffy didn't make the list though.

On another, more bizarre, Firefly note, I was getting inked the other day and this guy was getting the Serenity (the ship, not the symbol) tattooed on his back.

Wow! Good to hear the news is spreading.

It's just a matter of time and everyone will know about Firefly. The DVD set has done so well. And Serenity will soon rack up the numbers too.

When I first started watching Firefly, my daughter and I went to get her navel pierced. They also did tatoos there and I was sorely tempted to get the symbol on my back.

Tempted and doing are two different things though.

Yeah this was a HUGE tattoo of the ship that must have taken up 2/3 of his back - of course they weren't doing it all at once but he showed me his 'master plan.' And then all the tat artists were like 'what the hell is this ship?' so I lent them my DVD set and they all loved it. More fans, yay!

That's one hell of a fan. A back tattoo that's prime real estate skin wise. Not so weird thou I mean my friend has band tattoos I just hope she still like Crass when she's 40 (don't think she'll make to 80).

An I carried such a torch

yeah I know he was a HUGE fan, so huge that he wouldn't let the tat guy borrow his DVDs for fear they'd get damaged, thats why I let him borrow mine. Anyways I never understood getting band tattoos, my tattoo is from my favorite Cherokee myth and incorporates the hummingbird from the myth and a tribal symbol with 4 points (four is sacred to us).

Anyway I just hope that every student read that paper and went to go rent or buy Firefly. I know it has a regular readership of about half the student population, plus almost every professor. Most kids just pick up one every now and then.

I'm petitioning my co-editor of our school magazine (I'm the other one) to let me put an ad in ours. He's not a big sci-fi fan though.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Very shiny!

The word is spreading & we need to keep right on working to spread to all them as needs it told.

Wow, that is dedication!

I have to say, though, that I'm surprised someone that dedicated doesn't have a loaner set of the DVDs.

I'm generally against piracy, but I'm often tempted to make many copies of the first Firefly disc and then give them away to everyone I encounter. I figure it's just enough to get most people hooked.

Keep flyin',

Cedric
