Ads from Gilette on the tube -- for their new five blade razor -- have music that is oh so reminiscent of Newman's score for Serenity.

The latest Subaru ads also have music that reminds me of FF/S. It's a song with a kind of girl-group sound, and its lyrics are nothing more than one tag line after another. It brings "Fruity Oaty Bars" to mind, though it's nowhere near as odd and weird.

News item: there was a small disturbance in Maryland after the women's basketball team won the national title. Now, historically, it wasn't until recently that anyone's gotten excited enough about that particular sport to start a tussel. All I could think was, "You guys had a riot? On account of me?"

I was watching a movie called "Bride and Prejudice".

I really enjoyed this movie, much to the annoyance of the other members of my household (replayed it a few times).

Anywho, at one point Lalita say "India isn't a theme park." All I could think is she forgot to say gorram.

Not that gorram particularly fit with the rest of the script, but I can't hear the words "theme park" without thinking "gorram" as well.

I was doing my Vietnamese homework last night and needed to use the word "gram". Well in the southern dialect, gram is "gờ ram" and when I saw that I died a little bit and then had a hard time not writing "gorram". Actually needed to go back and cross things out a few times.

So what does "gram" mean in Vietnamese? Just curious.

it was gram, like the unit of measurement when cooking because we're on a market/cooking/food chapter.

Oh, OKay. I get it now.

I thought it was something other than the unit of measure. Thanks for the clarification.

MAGHAFFAR

I was watching a recent "Nova" on PBS all about the Cassini probe sent to Saturn
and the shots of the probe as it flies about near the rings, titan, etc.
all have one amazing quality:

The shot of the Cassini probe will be blurry, then the camera will do a
rapid zoom or pan-over and refocus... Somebody in the FX dept. was definitely
a Firefly fan!

Yep, I go to Maryland. I've been following the women's basketball for a while, but most people did jump on board rather late, once they realized how sucky our men were this season. So, yeah, I had the same feeling with that particular quote

No power in the 'verse can stop me!
