ok, this was meant to be some highly interesting conversation starter about aliens in the verse (not the pasty-headed type, but the little buggy microscopic ones that must have existed somewhere in a galaxy with enough planets and moons close enough to the sun and with the right ingredients for atmoshphere soup. And how plausible it was that not-a-one of them survived the terra-forming. But then I figured, hey, who cares, Joss decided he didn't want aliens and alien stories, so little buggy doo-dabs and plausibility be dammned)

And now, inspired by Lemon Jelly, I wants to know what you all do in the bath. Are you a singer? A reader? A Shakespeare quoter? Who here has toys to play with?

*raises hand*

I have a colour-changing rubber ducky, she goes pink when she warms up.

And now suddenly my mind is firmly in the gutter.

Well, try and keep it clean guys.

In a bath, I read and occasionally pass out. In the shower, I diva belt at the top of my lungs, often to broadway musicals.

Why is it that there's always someone asleep in the bath after all your house parties? It's always such a shock when you climb in for a shower in the morning.

I was in there cause there were four people crashed out on my bed. I pulled the first one off but his head hit the floor rather hard, so I didn't want to hurt the other three, and the walk to my bf's house seemed like too much effort. the bathroom was the only other lockable room, so me, my childhood bear, my sewing kit and my jewellry box spent the night in the tub.

I'm deinfately a bathtime reader. I buy lots of smell-good bath type stuff and sit in the tub with a book or a journal till I look like a prune. Not very exciting.
The sleeping in the tub story did remind me of one particularly eventful party at my house once though, where I ended up having to pass out on the floor because my bed had mysteriously ended up in the shower.

I'm another one for the shower due to a comment by a high school teacher which I won't repeat and turn others off of them as well. (I loathe that man for saying what he did.)

I however, don't sing in the shower...I'm too busy fending off the writing muse. Some day it'll get a clue and bother me when I can actually write something down.

I never really understood the glass box either. It’s artsy, I guess, because it has nothing to do with the song.

I don't take baths anymore. I still have Ninja Turtle toys that I used to play with in the bath but they're in the bathroom closet now. I hope they aren't moldy.

Nowadays I just take showers. I take 2 everyday. I'm very OCD about hygiene. I turn the water all the way on cold the last 5 minutes of my shower so I don't get sweaty when I get out. Is that a little weird? Some people think so.

I don't really take bathes anymore, but if I did I would probably throw in some bubbles and relax. I use to play with dinosaurs/ Ninja Turtles/ misc Action Figures when I took bathes as a kid.

In the shower I'm mostly rushing to get out of it. I'm always late for something, and the shower is more then likely making me more late. Sometimes I do have the tendency to sing in the shower. :D My roomies could tell you all about it!

I had a roommate who would talk to herself in the shower. It was a little freaky.

I don't sing in the shower, mostly cuz I've had roommates for the past 6 years. I do think obsessively, though. Sometimes it results in minor epiphanies for the paper I'm writing, and sometimes it's just annoying.

It's strange what you can learn about people from what they do in the bath. And here I thought it was all about what they have on their walls.

I'm a shower man, that's where I have my best ideas.

Embarrassingly, I only take baths now when I'm blind drunk.

Last time was after 3/4's of a bottle of OP rum (henceforth to be referred to as 'The Devil')
I sat down in the tub, then promptly threw up in it, and was too far-gone to get out again, so I fell asleep.

Oh yeah, now there is a truly wonderful image.

Baths are for reading, writing, and daydreaming after a long day. They are for thick lavender scented bubbles, glasses of sweet white wine, and the Serenity soundtrack on the stereo. They are wind-down, relax, get-away-from-it-all time. They are also "spa-time" -cucumber face masks, those silly three-step foot-care treatments, etc.
Baths are for healing and rejuvenating.

Showers are far more active. Hair washing and conditioning-(I have butt-length hair. It's a major operation!) I use showers for "working" singing- scales, rep excercises, any difficult pieces I'm working on- Everyone around me knows I sing well and they think it comes naturally. I'd hate to disillusion them by practicing when it's not garbled by the sounds of pouring water!

I am so incredibly in synch with SameErtia here.

Except that I don't sing (yeeesh, gods no, nobody wants that), but I do think about things. Mainly writing plots, or real life problems I'm trying to sort through.

Great epiphanies happen in the shower, showers are about renewal and refreshment.

Baths are for relaxing and indulgence, easing away troubles both physical and emotional.

Mainly a shower person myself.

In the shower I either sing (only when theres no-one in the house lol, sitll can't get the Firefly theme song out my head) or I sortof turn my mind off and then suddenly out of the blue I remember/come up with solutions to problems and have ideas for stuff im working on.

I remember one time I came up with the answers for some questions I got wrong in an exam a year ago it was wierd.

I love my captain

I sing in the shower. Alot. I try to keep it down so as not to disturb my family members but I sometimes forget. I have always loved to sing. I don't really think much when in the shower. I just like feeling the hot water run over me and the singing is spontanious.

I rarely get to take a bath :(
The tub attached to our shower is not suitable to bathe anyone larger than a slim 10 year old. I am 5ft 10in and overweight.

I do like baths when I can get them however. I've always wanted to use my aunts bath. It's one of those deep jacuzie numbers. It's also about 6ft long because my aunt is about 6ft tall. That means you can immerse your whole badoy in a nice hot bath and not have your knees sticking in the air.

I've done that before, especially on really cold days. The building I work in has a large theatre and an auditorium in it. Unfortunately it also only has one thermostat, which means my little 12 X 12 office gets the same blast of cold air that the 2,000 seat auditorium gets. Shiver. That means it's around 50-55 degrees in my workspace. My fingers get pretty numb. So a lot of times in the winter when I get home I'll fill up the tub to boiling and hop in a digest a nice book. I like it hot, you know, like when you get out there's a line at your shoulders where the water was. Below that you look like a lobster. That's the tops.

Unfortunately, most of the time, it's nothing but a quick shower before work, and a quick shower after the gym or run. Sigh....

Seryn, you're actually NOT the only one. We have two clawfoot bathtubs in this old house and no shower. I get up early enough each morning to have a short soak while reading and fending off my cat, who loves to stand with his back feet on the rim of the tub, his front paws on my shoulder, and drink the tub water. He likes people soup, I guess. (eewwww)

Does anyone else get so tired of standing in the shower and just sit down? I'm not trying to say I'm lazy, but sometimes I just rather be sitting. Plus, on a more scientific note, the more distance between the shower head and me, the more kinetic energy the water has, which makes it feel kinda like rain...really warm rain.

Wish I had one of those claw foot tubs for soaking and taking a bath then I most definitely would be reading in it, get some bath salts and bubbly stuff. Wish I had time to take a good long soak with a good book.

So that leaves the shower. And yes I sing in it or talk my story ideas out loud. What do I sing? Anything! songs with no words, musical numbers any of the songs from Phantom of the Opera, The Blackeyed Peas, (though I don't like them that much their songs end up planted in my mind), Ballad of Serenity, ( You can't take the sky from me,me,meee!)

Lots of strange fun! (I wonder if my neighbors hear me!) Huh.

*grin* For YEARS, all I wanted was INDOOR PLUMBING and RUNNING WATER!
But you can do a decent bath type thing with a kiddie pool and some water heated on the woodstove. :)

For now, I have a tub for the kiddo (he does bubbles and Batman toys, mixing the fizzies and stuff) and showering for me, where I THINK too much and save the singing for in the car on the way to work.

Whoa! Good Tub!

I used to wonder why it was so loud in the shower, like someone yelling. Then I realized it was my inner voice. Once I started listening to it, it quit yelling. And I most always remember to rinse the shampoo out now.

Bath time is the fight I have with my 13 year old, 100 pound disabled daughter. She screams "No Bath" until I finally get her in through a series of manuvers. Then, when it is time to get out, she screams "No, not Done. No out." Sometimes bath time can last really, really long. I do Sudoku.

There's no place I can be since I found serenity.

Ah, yeah. Major point. :) LOL
I also think there will be industrial-strength screens on my windows!

Though my soul may set in darkness
It will rise in perfect light.
I have loved the stars too fondly
To be fearful of the night.

SERENITYSLITTLEANGEL

I'm a shower-type person. All my best plot bunnies hit when I'm in the shower. I like talking through them.

However, in the bath I have just about every product Lush has ever made. It's all about the relaxing and the pampering.

Me, too! It's a terrible habit I've developed. Usually it's because I'm still not awake and don't want to expend the energy in standing. I like to lean over and let the water run down my back. Though, it tends to double my shower time.

And I wonder why I'm always rushing to get ready in the morning?

As for baths: I stop the holes in the drain thing so I can fill it all the way up so that I can't move or it'll overflow and then I read and listen to something soothing. And when it starts to cool off, I drain some water and add more until I'm too pruney to stand it or I finish my book.

And my cat likes people soup, too! He'll sit on the edge of the tub and lick the water off my arms if I let him in the bathroom.
