TRISTAN

Greetings, all! I posted quite a ways up the post, but I wanted to come back and welcome all the shiny new Browncoats. I am less than a month here myself, and I am impressed with the welcomes everyone receives...it's kinda like a really big, far-flung, loving family. So, welcome home!

Those of us going to DragonCon are hoping to see as many of you there as possible (at least, I am)!

Any questions you have can be answered by anyone here...look to those who have held the line the longest, as they have seen the most.

Ni hao!

Holding until you get back , Captain.

Okay, ComicGirl, here it is. I think it's a lot better, all the holes patched up just as good as the Cap'n's bullet holes, and cleaned up as well as may be. Restitched a lot of these frayed hems, too.

You really need to steer clear of Kaylee when she's been working on the engine, though. I don't think these grease stains are ever gonna come out.

Should hold you till the next shipment comes in from Shadow, I expect.

*Hands browncoat back to ComicGirl*

Wow! Shiny! Thanks Doncoat. And I don't mind the grease stains so much. Gives it a bit more character, I think.

I don't care what you believe in, just believe in it.

MISBEHAVING

Browncoat #4536354 or something here.

Reppin' Central Kentucky. Already added the Serenity Day sig to my non-Browncoat related sites (World of Warcraft mostly, I raid with a whole bunch of Browncoats, oddly enough on the Alliance side. Best Serenity-related goofery moment: hitting a boss called Baron Geddon who turns somebody into a "living bomb" and makes you explode. One of the raiders who got hit by it yelled, "Gee, don't you think it'd be nice if I weren't a GRENADE right now?!" Much hilarity ensues.)

Just stopping by to welcome yet another increment of new 'coats to our little home.

I notice that others besides me have introduced themselves to Firefly by consuming the whole series in one go. Amazing, innit?

Now you have to go carefully through it all several times over, listening to the music, watching Jayne for all the things he does, admiring the Captain, drooling over Inara, noticing the stuff and extra people on the sets, whatever takes your fancy... It's packed full of goodies.

Tuck into the strawberries we've just set out in the galley. They'll tide you over 'til the next meal.

Well howdy I'm Jack an expatriot American residing in Australia and missed all the origional ferver of Firefly except for the occasional reference in POP culture I started hearing about the show a few months ago when "against all reason" FOX8 on cable started playing Firefly in order from "Serenity" through "Objects in space" I immediatly bought the series on DVD from the US and suddenly discovered that the BDM was coming outjust after X-mas "rapture" now I have been an avid reader of fanfic on this site for months and finally decided to join.

Hiya,
Im originally from iceland I currently live in sweden.

Cant really say that ive been a browncoat very long (unfortunetly). When I got hold of the show via a friend I fell in love instantly and watched all the episodes in a straight row with only a short break for some well needed rest in the middle.
Day after I had watched them all I forced my brother and my roommate to watch it all (although over a couple of days)

Just a couple of days ago I got the Complete Series DvD box as a birthday gift from my sis, and also ive recently picked up the RPGGame and im currently introducing some of my comrades to it.

By the way, if any of you ever feel like talking about the Serenity RPG send me a mail.

You can’t stop the Signal.
Keep spreading the word about Firefly!

ECAMBER

I'm not entirely sure I haven't already introduced myself (to be honest what time is spent on the computer is usually my "winding down" time - ie by the time I get off this machine I'm a bit tipsy)

So, here's how it is...

About four months ago my third ex-fiance (who I hadn't seen in 12 years and just recently reestablished a tentative friendship), introduced me to the movie Serenity. He'd already seen it, but told me it was one of those movies he could watch over and over (my standards being a bit different from his made me think otherwise. Fortunately I was proven wrong).

Two weeks later a classmate and I were talking about the movie and he mentioned he had all the episodes on DVD and would I like to borrow them. Um, hell yes?

Then I went out and bought my own damn copy of the movie - I want to watch this as many times as I feel like watching it. Thing is, when I buy a movie I like on DVD, I watch all the extras... including watching it with closed captioning (to make sure I get all the lines) and with the commentary on. Hook, line, sinker.

Then I realized that geez, there must be quite a few fans to get a movie off the ground... and figured there would be sites for fans. I bounced around a few of them, enjoying most of what I saw. Then I stumbled on this one. Fell in LOVE with some of the fanfic (JanaFae being the one that really tagged me.. "naughty?" "girl, that is downright dirty" - YUM). Then I started reading the threads... I absolutely love some of the theories floating around and some of the threads were a lot of fun to read. So I figure, what the hell... I'll get myself registered and see what else is around. lol, that and about a week ago I became taken with a storyline of my own and started writing it down. I'm hoping someday/oneday it'll be something I'd want to share with others.

So! That's it in a nutshell. Really enjoying this website and getting to read all the tasty ideas floating around.

I want to say to everyone here "Welcome Aboard"

I'm glad to see all the noobs here and as a matter of fact I'm pretty new myself.

Something I find odd and maybe other browncoats can help me out. For every Firefly fan here. Or for that matter every FF fan site on the internet, there must be 30 or maybe even 100 fans that are not members.

I understand that the Joss/verse didn't find a nitch the first time around but can't them rutting tv exects see the following it has generated now. Theres money to be made on them there outer rim planets. Heck t-shirt sales alone could bankroll a small country.

When folks are wanting to toss a bucket of cash on you "It just don't make no sense" as Jayne would say, to turn around and walk away.

Oh well, enough ranting. Glad to see everyone on the boat. Enjoy.

Checking in again to be sure to welcome all the new 'coats and to let you know the buffet in the galley has been completely refreshed and is ready for questioning. Mangos, hot cheese, strawberries, all the very best for our crew.

Must confess a little envy when I read that someone hasn't finished watching the series yet. My DVDs are wearing thin from viewing.

If you really love the show, introduce your next of kin, your classmates, your co-workers to this lovely 'Verse and perhaps we'll get another season or two or three or.....

Mystifies me it does that Star Trek is about to get a "prequel" and we're out here on the drift.

6/23 is 2 months away.

HONGKONGBROWNCOAT

Hi all, I'm an American expat living in Hong Kong (guess I'm experiencing Sino-American fusion firsthand....)

Never caught the show on TV (thanks FOX...) but I saw the Firefly DVD for sale in Best Buy a couple of weeks ago and some fuzzy corner of my limited brain dredged up some (seemingly) useless info about this DVD set having such longevity and success on Amzaon's tracker. So I bought it and needless to say I haven't looked back!

I was on a British Airways flight from HK to London last month and they offered Serenity as one of the movies on your personal screen. Naturally I unbuckled my seatbelt, reached into the overhead compartment, put on my Browncoat and settled in. The great thing was that in my sub-divided cabin there were about 40 seats; at least half the people were watching Serenity because everyone started cracking up the first time we actually see the ship (Mal: What was that!?, Wash: Did you see that!? etc, etc....) So hopefully we picked up some international recruits!

HongKongBrowncoat, what was your fellow passengers' reaction to seeing a certain character take a Reaver harpoon? To the River "hero shot?" To the emergence of the Reaver ships from the ion cloud?
Would have liked to be a fly on the plane (a tiny, unnoticeable one not to be swatted) to watch reactions.

Howdy!!!

I'm a new browncoat, well, new to this site at least. I am a huge fan of both Serenity and Firefly. I've got both on DVD and watch them both countless times.

My name is SteveAM (the 'AM' bit is my middle and last initals btw). I live in the south of England....Um....and thats about it.

Also on a side note, I always seem to fall in love with programs that Fox cancel's. Like Firefly, Futurama, Family Guy (wow, they all begin with "F" like Fox does...weird). Futurama use to be my favourite cancelled show, but now Firefly has take over it, and taken over my life too

Anyway I'm pray to god they bring back Firefly!

with risk of repeatin Hongkongbrowncoats comments - I saw Serenity on a BA flight from London to Cape Town a couple of months ago. I watched the BDM 4 times... whenever I got up to take a walk there were always people watching it. I just wish it had been on the flight to Sydney... I could have watched it even more! All these wonderful shiny 'coats piling aboard make it so interesting to come here.

Thanks, Ravenhair for your always wonderful brownies.

I've brought the customary strawberries, a whole mule-load this time because we've so many mouths to feed.

News of the hodgeberry crush would not go amiss, either. I'm glad to report that the staining of stompers' feet (we were grateful for the help, and wasn't it a fine party?) has faded to the point where they get no more amused glances. The juice, left on the skins since the crush, has now been taken off for further fermentation. The remaining pomace has been sold to a distiller. We'll be taking great care with the vat (no peeking unless you're Kaylee the winemaker!) until the call goes out for help in the bottling.

I watched the BDM 4 times... whenever I got up to take a walk there were always people watching it. I just wish it had been on the flight to Sydney... I could have watched it even more! Here's hoping some of them folks want to find out more...

Rainey, I was so happy I was trying to figure out how to send BA a thank you letter for playing Serenity; it totally made my trip!

OK, I need that in captain dummy talk

NUCLEARDAY

Whoa, a whole ton of new recruits in here! :) So a big roarin' howdy to everyone just joining in on the fanaticism. Looks like FollowMal is going to be quite busy with the handing out of browncoats when she gets back.

Ain't nothing shinier than seeing the signal still spreading. Keep the faith, spread the word, and hold the line. We'll do the impossible again, 'cause we're so damn pretty... :P

Hey all,

I just joined last week but it didn't occur to me to introduce myself politely... so much for my manners. Anyway I love the show and am thrilled at the prospect of possibly doing something to help bring it back.

Happy to be aboard!

One day.
One mission.
One army of Browncoats.

On June 23rd, we aim to misbehave.

DASHBOARDDINO

Hey, everyone. I just joined yesterday. Been watching the show about three months now, I reckon. Which means I've seen some episodes more times than I care to count.

I immediately gravitated toward Mal, because his attitude matches my own. In fact, it was a little spooky hearing my thoughts come out of his mouth.

I saw the movie first, and was hooked. It's a rare thing that you see dialogue that good, paired with acting that is that good. With just enough realism to feel...well, real. That little Firefly is a real cozy place. Like to have one myself if it was possible.

I've heard people say they didn't watch the series because they were unclear what it was. Fox did a piss-poor job of promoting this little gem. I thought it was something new-agey. If it had stayed on more than a little while, eventually I would have wandered over by accident and gotten myself stuck there. But they didn't give that a chance to happen, and that's a damned shame.

But here we are all now, ready for battle. From what I see, looks like everyone's holding pretty good. I think Mal would be pleased. Real touched. In fact, I think he is.

So I'm just going to look around some, see what's going on. Oh, about me. I live in a place that looks a lot like some of the Firefly sets, planetside. But I won't be here long. I'm going to Romania for about a year. Talk about life on the Rim! Believe me, there will be some Romanian Browncoats when I'm done. I worked as a journalist for 11 years, which I don't recommend doing, and am now interested in studying business when I get back to this part of the 'verse.

FARFLY

Yeah, I'm new too, even if I am really old. Been a fan of Buffy and Angel for a long time. I've even managed to get my daughter interested in Firefly/Serenity.

I probably read this on a Buffy site somewhere, but it bears repeating. I'd like to thank Joss Whedon for making me care so much about people who don't even exist.

I am new here. I just signed up yesterday. I bought Firefly off of Amazon without having any idea what it was. I bought it because it was a good deal and I like Sci-Fi. Ive watched the whole season in 2 days...woops! I loved it! I now ordered the movie through your links here. I hope there is a Season 2! My only problem is that the last few episodes got darker (I like Sci-Fi for escape, not reality - I like them ending happy). I also have heard that a few "key" characters dont fair so well in the movie. So, I loved the season, but I wonder if there is a season 2, how much it will have in common with the Firefly I have grown to love. It doesnt seem like it could be similar.

Makes her a home." Mal

MILDCINEPHILE

Bonsoir everyone and thank you for the welcome I've gotten so far. I got hooked on Firefly recently when a friend showed Serenity at a party. I've since then seen all of the episodes and become addicted to the lovely drug that is Firefly.

Just as a question, anyone know where I can get in contact with a DC/Metro area Firefly group, if there is one?

Have a lovely evening.

Hey, there, farfly, line up over here for the Silver Fox brigade! No way to be too old for FFly.
Or too new.

Everybody, chow is now.
Y'all step up to the buffet and check out the goodies we've laid out tonight. All the usual stuff you've come to expect, plus caviar from New Melbourne. All the best for this army/crew.
