Ok, I have a question about the outtakes on the Serenity DVD

During a bunch of the flubbed lines the actors would shout "Summer!". Does anyone know why they did that?

Nathan again.

I'm not sure of the exact story. But it became a running joke that any time a take was fluffed it was Summers fault, regardles of whether she was on set at the time or not.

someone somewhere will have a link of remember the exact story, you just have to wait a bit longer.

There seems to be a few stories floating about this, but Joss himself tells the story during the Objects in Space commentary. The last scene of that episode, which is a very long scene, with no cuts, would end with Kaylee and Summer (and Summer had the last line).

It seems that she screwed up her lines, and since it was a continuous scene, it meant it had to be reshot from the beginning, reason why when Summer screwed up, Nathan, always rubbing the girls in a big-brother-way, shouted "Summer". Next time, it seems it was his turn to mess up the scene and he cried out "Summer" once again, thus making it a running joke whenever someone messed up a line to shout Summer's name.

I think that was it. Someone feel free to contradict me. :)

The flip side is that apparently Summer is (almost) always word perfect (witness the fact that it rarely is her screwing up in the out-takes) and it is everybody else who messes up. Which just makes Sean's face when she does blow a line in the Serenity outtakes priceless.

I believe I heard some where that in the episode "Ariel" after River goes after Jayne with a "Butcher's Knife" and he smacks her down, Summer was supposed to say "He looks better in RED!", but she had forgotten her line, and the crew yelled "SUMMER." After that when one of the others forgets a line, they yell at Summer.

Well, that's what I heard.

Summer IMO did one heck of a fantastic job.

The emotional level that she had to constantly find herself to do her role was something extremely difficult. She had me with a lump in my throat more than once. Amazing actress.

I can see why the crew may have picked on her a bit.

Actually, if you listen real close, you can hear somebody muttering "Summer...." off camera. Probably Nathan.
