My favorite bit was the way the mammoth kept sneaking up on people.

Sneaking up on people!

How the hell does it sneak up on people? It's a frickin' Mammoth!

What the hell was it, some kind of top secret government stealth
mammoth?

lol...sometimes you could hear footsteps...but that was only when the mammoth wanted you to hear it coming

Okay, I didn't see it (no cable) but now I am picturing a Far Side "French Mammoth" walking around on tip toes with its trunk over its mouth in a "shhhh" gesture.

Saw Mammoth last night.

Well actally I saw part of it. On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 4.
Sorry to the browncoats that liked it. I didn't. I didn't even watch the end b4 turning back to the History channel. River...I mean Summer should have killed that mammoth with her brain. Here is a girl that almost brought me to tears on every Firefly eps.But I don't blame her for my disapointment in the Mammoth show.

Si/Fi channel can't you guys see when a great series like FF is calling you to the black? Come on spring a little $$ and put River back in the pilot seat

No. I thought it was pretty dire myself. The pacing was horible, the script uneven, the plot a contrived rehash, and the mammoth scenes seemed to be composed in such a way (very short shots, darkly lit, and from weird angles) as to hide how bad the CG looked. It had flashes of sureal goofyness in places (particularly in the later half) but it never mannaged to maintain any level of enjoyability for any length of time.

A note regarding the acting. A lot of talent was wasted in this film. Even the actors that aren't that great were better then their material and the standouts in the cast (Most notably Glau and Skerritt) were so much better than their lines that it really was painfull to watch.

All in all a movie strugling - without any great success - to achieve mediocrity.

You know, you don't see movies with that much B-movie cheese any more. Makes for a tasty sandwich.

If you don't take any of it seriously, it was a fun way to pass the time.

At last.
