Hey, y'all:

I've modified my once-popular BDM countdown widget to display a countdown to June 23, with the caption, "Misbehavin' on Serenity Day in:" (and then a countdown in days, hours, minutes and seconds).

A picture of it in action resides here: http://www.fireflyfans.net/sunroomitem.asp?i=9658

As stated therein, you'll have to email me to get one and provide a return email address that accepts attachments (128 KB).

Sorry 'bout that aspect. If someone knows where I can upload the widget so that everyone can just go and get it without undue fuss, please sing out...

Respectfully,

zoid

Zoid!
Shiny! I'm making some changes over at Jaynesbunk, but when I'm ready for it I'll send ya a wave.

I installed it yesterday, and it's got my stamp of approved shininess. 60 days is a long time, but they're gonna pass quite quickly considering all the things we have to take care off. But that's shiny.
Anyways, I highly recommend this thing and think we should put it in the download section of http://serenityjune23rd.com/. Which of course we can't, because it can't be uploaded in the first place, as you say. But when I installed it, it said there's thousands of fan-made widgets for download, so maybe you have to download it to their site, and you can link to that.

Agatsu, et al:

Okay, I've uploaded it to the Yahoo! Widget site; but they have to "approve it" first, so I don't know how long that's going to take. I let y'all know, as soon as they let me know.

And boy! Talk about personal information! "What's your actual name?" (zoid de Firefly) "What is your annual net income?" (My income does not consist of nets, and it's gross of you to ask.) "At what precise time were you conceived?" (Who-ba-whuh?)

The things I go through for you guys!

Gizmo-ly,

zoid

P.S.
Agatsu: If you're running serenityjune23rd.com, or know who is, y'all have my unreserved permission to upload the widget to the download section of the site. (NB: Just don't sell it. The code's free for non-commercial use.) I think it'd be much preferable to have the widget on a Firefly/Serenity site, than buried among thousands of other, unrelated widgets. Think Indiana Jones, the Ark of the Covenant, and that big honkin' warehouse full of relics in Washington, D.C. No, not Congress, the other big honkin' warehouse full of relics, er, cultural artifacts...

I hear ya! I'll tell Seba, who's responsible for the website. Thanks for the "donation".
I got the widget in the bottom left corner of my desktop, and the HD-DVD screenshot of River someone posted yesterday as my wallpaper, and it looks really shiny.
Btw, I love the widget thingie itself, now I have like 6 of them running in the background. I just have to hit F8, and there's a slideshow of Firefly and Serenity pictures, the local weather, 9 webcams, a clock and a day planner, so far. The counter widget is visible at all times, of course.

They asked when you were CONCEIVED? Wtf do they need that information for? Hm, if they CHECK the widgets, I hope they don't reject it because you filled out their 9-pages questionnaire like that.

Thanks Zoid!

I'll forward it on to Seba and to Zisker and the Signal Corps.

Since I'm getting a lot of requests, but this thread is falling down the list because of lack of replies, I'll just give it a gentle *bump* with my hip, like an old jukebox with a stuck record. Don't want anybody to miss out.

How do those of you who've gotten one like it? Is it gettin' the job done for ya'?

And don't forget: After Serenity Day passes, you can set the message (currently, "Misbehavin' on Serenity Day in:") to anything you want, and reset the date to a new countdown, simply by right-clicking the widget and then selecting "Widget Preferences..." from the popup menu.

Before this Serenity Day plan hove into view, I was using it as a countdown to my 48th birthday. Not because I couldn't remember my birthday, mind you; but because I have a hard time remembering how old I am without doing the math. That's how you know you're getting old, boys and girls...

Bumpily,

zoid

P.S.
I just like Serenity/Firefly themed stuff on my computers and other electronic devices. My Razr is a shrine.

I still think it's absolutely shiny. And since it sets itself by the use of the interior clock, you can use it all around the world without having to make any adjustments (since Serenity day starts when YOUR time zone hits June 23).
I even left the text as it is, and I'm usually all about modification.
