Serenity map for QUAKE or DOOM?

Don't we have any talented mappers here who're in the the mood to build the Serenity for use as a Quake 4 or Doom 3 Deathmatch map? It's not good for deathmatch, of course, but all I wanna do is walk around the ship - it could be so pretty, and interactive! And there yould be switch to start/land so there would be 2 environments... outer space and parked on HAVEN, where you could enjoy the outside design of the boat.
But I guess a thing like that would already be around if we had a mapper.

There was one started for unreal tournament. Not sure what happened to it. It's been many years since I've done any mapping, the last game I made any maps for was the original Half-Life...

That's shiny, and I want it, and I'll prolly get UT2k4 just to see it if it's worth it (got a link?), but have any of you played Doom 3 or Quake 4? With that engine (detail, bumpmapping, shadows), a Serenity could just be incredible looking and incredibly interactive. Doors, hatches, sinks, light switches, monitors, consoles, turning engine, steam, sparks, pretty lights and all.
I'd very much like to work together with someone on this, since I have a few shiny ideas that I won't tell you about here. I know what the engine can do and all, but the last and only map I did was for Thief, and that was many years ago.
We'd also need custom textures and sounds, of course.
So, anyone up for building the Serenity?

Personally I think Half-Life 2's engine is supirior, and would be better for Serenity given the details you've outlined.

I find the Doom 3 engine just looks too dark all the time, even in Quake 4.

Though Source comes with all the Steam baggage, which stops you playing any source game without an active internet connection. That really pisses me off

That's because of the lighting and the dark textures - it's supposed to look dark.
About Steam- although I love the engine, you already stated yourself what sucks about it, and I still think the Doom 3 engine would be better for this.
I wouldn't complain about a Steam version, though.

Well, the inside of the Serenity isn't that brightly lit, either. I don't think it would be a problem.
Remember the complex on Mars where the sun is shining in through the windows in a warm tone, btw? Great lighting for a Serenity that is parked on some borderline planet. You just have to adjust the lighting overall and add some, and you'll be good. I think.

I don't think Serenity is as much with the dark and moody, but you may be right.

I think if all you want is a map then Doom3 might be the way to go, but any real custom modded content would be best down with HL2.

Since you seem to only be working on a map Doom *might* be better.
