Ariel Ambulance Rescue Volunteers Needed May 6
Found the link to this on

"Ariel Ambulance Day
Saturday May 6, 2006
10AM scrapyard in Mojave, CA -- purchase and load ambulance
1PM MFAM in Shafter, CA -- unload ambulance for display and restoration

We need volunteers!
Large semi-muscular men and warrior women (at least 6 for each location) to walk the large-but-light-weight ambulance prop onto and off of the flatbed.

Documenters: folks with digital still- and film-cameras.

Bystanders/onlookers/cheering squad

Host families for long-distance Browncoats who want to arrive Friday night--why rent a hotel when one can stay with Browncoats?

We need supplies!
Padding--old blankets, foam pads
Tie-down straps (25')
Short lengths of wood/blocks/wedges to secure the ambulance and support it off the ground at the museum.
tarps and tape/straps/bungee-cords "

YAY!
Well done.

Hmmm... 8 1/2 hours drive down and another 8 1/2 home. I'm out of my mind to even be considering this, but it's very tempting to lend a hand.

Good Luck to all with this endeavor. I'm much too far away to be of any help other than moral support.

Go Browncoats.

There's no place I can be since I found serenity.

I will cheer from halfway accross the country! (well, not quite, I guess, but close) Sure wish I had a job that understood what the color of my coat meant to me so I could get out of work and drive 1000 miles to see this amazing thing!
Is it going to tour? Will I ever get to play in it?

Glad to see the ambulance has finally been rescued. I know there were some snags along the way, but at least she is safe now.

Can't wait to see pics of her heading to her new home.

And there I was thinking flans would hitch-hike from Florida to be in on this move.

If there is anybody who can take Friday night/Saturday off and make it there, please give it some thought.

I'll be driving about 850 miles round trip myself.

People cheering us on from afar is nice but we need people there.

How can people miss out on this.
If this were going down ANYWHERE in Europe, I'd be there, I swear.
And I'm not just saying things like that. So, if you could transport it to Europe first, I'd be glad to help bring it back to the States.
Or my backyard.
Come on, this thing is gonna be all over the place at conventions etc., don't you wanna be able to say "I helped save that!"?
And the BDHs TOUCHED this thing. It's like a secondary kiss when you drink from the same bottle.
And picking up an old "spaceship" from a junkyard and making it "space"-worthy again, that's just soooo Firefly!
There's tens of thousands of us and they got THREE volunteers?

Kudos to you all.

Wish I could have been there, but I have a bad case of the brokes this week, plus a car that works well enough for back-and-forth-to-work but ain't up to a 800-mile round trip. Gorramit.

Best with the resoration. You have done the impossible and... Ah, heckfire, you know the rest!

Wow, I would have thought more Browncoats live in Cali... anyways, I'm in the same boat, I live in Maryland. This is really cool, though. Everytime something like this happens, I wonder how much longer the powers that be can deny that Firefly is worth another shot.
