RIVER6213

I would like to thank everyone here who have listened to me and stuck up for me in the latter part of 2005, and this part of 2006.

I will be 44 years of age on Monday, this 8th of May. I am glad that I am classed with a group of people such as yourselves. Except for the other .001%, the south will rise again crowd, I am honored that the rest of you are a creative, and honorable, plus loving group of people such as yourselves, exist. You have in a certain way have restored my faith in some parts of humanity, which I had looked down on, and had contempt for these past many years.

I just wanted to say these things because I am (yes) very drunk as I type, and I think that it’s a good thing to acknowledge all of you who I have taken from in the past few months. You all took my suicide attempt and turned it into something good that I even couldn’t see until later. You all gave me advice that people who were paid to give me advice didn’t cover. You all called me on my BS when the people that I pay to do that job, didn’t bother to do so. All of you who took the time to respond too me gave me a gift, and it is a gift that shall not go unanswered.

All of you on this board have paid me a measure of compassion, sympathy, empathy, pity, and contempt, and in other words, you were being real and straight with me, which is something I very, rarely come across in my line of business.

So I thank you all, and God bless you, or May the force be with you. *snicker*

P.S I would also like to thank the Citizen for triggering off this series of cause and effect a few months ago. If he hadn’t yelled at me, the events that have taken place would not have lead to me finding myself in this day and time, so thanks Citizen…I guess yelling at a woman works ever now and then, from time to time. In your case, you yelled at the right woman.

Whoa! Hold up there little lady. What's wrong the South or it rising again?

Ok, I'll let that one pass. We can discuss off line if you would like. Just private mail me if you want. Don't want to distract from your special day.

Again, Happy Birthday River! Wish you all the best today and every day of your life. You deserve it!

Happy Birthday!
I'm glad to hear you're better.
I don't really know what was going on. Then again, I usually don't.
But whatever happened, it's great that it gave you strength. You know what Nietzsche had to say on that subject, that whole "What doesn't kill us..."- phrase...
Well, he didn't post that here, but I think that's the kind of thing he had in mind when he wrote his words of wisdom.

So, I don't know you, but I think I know enough to know you deserve this here:

And to think you could have missed out on that!

Thank you everyone!

It's nice to have someone say "I'm glad you are alive, I'm glad you were born"

I'm at work right now sporting a queen-sized hangover, but I won't be staying here all day. I'm gonna leave in about 20 minutes and go out with some creepoid who decided too take a risk and invite me out for a drink. He's really nice and he makes me laugh, so I guess having a drink (Like I need more alcohol) with him is harmless.

I havent gone anywhere with a guy in 6 years...I hope I don't frak this up. Anyway, thanks again.

Thanks for all the nice words!
Well, I'm home from my mini date, and I have to say that it was fun, which is a word I thought I had eliminated from my vocabulary. Steven, the guy who dragged me out for a drink (it turned out to be 5 drinks) and conversation was such a charming, and funny person. I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. You men can really pour on the charm and dumbfound a girl when you want too.

He did most of the talking, while I was trying to get used to the idea that here I sat, having a normal conversation with a guy, but after the 2nd drink I got into the conversation, and on the whole, had a good time. I’m going to have to do that sort of thing more often.

Once again I thank all of you people for today. I wouldn’t have done what I did today if some of you hadn’t challenged my thinking and world views since October of 2005. Something within my mind has changed regarding life and people, or it could be that this medication that I’m taking for my moods are working, though, I shouldn’t be taking them and drinking, which I plan to quit after tonight. I think I’ll find another method of relaxation.

I was told it will take around 7 months for my arm to heal itself, and there is also some nerve damage in it that most likely would be with me for the rest of my strange life. A small price to pay for entertaining the idea to kill myself....oh well, live and learn.

I’m going to watch all 14 episodes of Firefly tonight to remind myself why I like the series and the actors so much. I haven’t watched Firefly in months, but I did watch Serenity last week….I really like the movie Serenity. I am armed with my favorite wine and my box set of Firefly, so I guess I’m set.

Thank you everyone

I don't know if they are what you're taking, but SSRI's like Prozac are really amazing -- changed my own life when I was struggling with clinical depression. But do go easy on the wine, though, or you'll be out cold before you can say, "goodnight kiss"

Pretty deep. The end of Out of Gas always gets me the same way...all choked up. I really like Mal.

Happy Birthday Girl! I am proud of you for opening up and saying, "Hey, I have problems!".
It's really hard. Even on a forum where you don't really know anyone (IRL). I am also proud of everyone here, because they are really supportive. I just told my boyfriend of 5 years (fiancee now) that I am a cutter and have attemped suicide before. I havn't told anyone but my therapist that. With his supportive, positive response I feel more confident that, hey, I have problems, but I can still be loved and love in return. Keep your head up, keep on keeping it real.

This baby is able to post. I'm gonna finish watching ALL of Firefly before I pass out and passout I shall.

The more I watch this, the more I revisit my orginal impression when I 1st watched the entire Firefly series..FOX screwed up in a big way, and it angers me that such a good show, and such fine actors got flushed down the toilet the way they did.

Firefly should have at least been given 4 seasons. Just my opinion though. Now back to the show and yet another glass of wine.

River

P.S. I don't know if its me, but Firefly seemed like it was dogged every inch of the way....like some group, or some idiot didnt want it to be aired. It just looks that way. Even the movie. They misrepresented it. The coming attractions were weird. The DVD box are full of images that has NOTHING to do with the actual show or the plot. This show was sabotaged big time.

I'm getting mad! Maybe this is a good sign. Oh well, back to watching the show...

I shall, and thank you for the kind words. It seems that you know the score in concerning myself because you have gone through the same. And yes, the people here are VERY supportive (is that spelled right?) and I am forced to learn by example. Being Darth Vader and the complete, selfish bitch doesn’t work for me anymore. It gets you lonely and crazy. I am going against my own nature trying to be this way, and my true nature is being a very sociable person.

But, back to Firefly. I’m watching “War Stories” right now and this Niska guy is annoying me, which calls for another glass of wine.

I think it sucks that Mal "let him live" instead of him escaping when Mal was occupied with his bodyguard. I mean, he kicked Crow in the engine for swearing to go after him, and he knows that Niska's reputation means a lot to him, so what gives?

On the other matter...
One of my ex-girlfriends used to be a cutter, and I couldn't deal with that. She's manic-depressive, and all I wanted was to make her happy, and she had phases where she was just devastated for no reason and cut herself, and I just couldn't help her - it was driving me crazy, and I'm not using that as a phrase. I couldn't understand how someone I love so much couldn't love herself. So when I noticed that instead of me making her happy, she was making me depressive as well, I broke up with her. Now that wasn't as easy for me as it may sound here, and took me loooong time to do, because I still loved her.
Ironically, I still kept helping her with her problems and dealing with them and all that, but I had already lost her.
We're still best friends, though, and she's better now. I wish I could say because of me, but I guess the credit goes to medication. But I'd like to think I did my share and still am. Actually, I sort of fell a bit in love with her again some time ago, and still kinda am, but so much happened in the last 5 years, including other relationships, and I don't wanna ruin our really shiny friendship and all that.
So many wrong choices in my life...

Anyways, just wanted to show the "other" pov on that problem.

Well #1 you can't turn off love like a light switch and that’s what Hollywood wants us to believe, and #2 you did what a good friend does...you hung in there with the person you actually cared about. This by the way is a crime against humanity...go figure?

You really like and love your ex, this is a given to you as far as you are concerned and that's a good thing and it shows what your true colors are. It shows us what you consider important.

You are a person of honor. Most people would have thrown away their ex who acted and behaved like yours did...you did not, and you held out. Good for you. Hold your head up and count yourself as one of the few, but great people on Earth who knows what the word love really means.

As far as Niska is concerned in War Stories, yes, Mal should have killed him, but I suspect the writers wanted him in later episodes, so Mal got to kill the henchman instead, but I really wanted Mal to kill Niska. Oh well, Now off to the episode called “Trash” which calls for yet another glass of wine. I am really enjoying myself right now. This is fun and I’m glad I know about Firefly.

I'm so glad to see you're back! I'm a day late, but what the heck, Happy Birthday! (Hey, where's that beer emoticon?!) Slow down on that wine - got to have some left to pass around.

I also went through a rough time a few years back, and it would have been nice to know some Browncoats back then. I was stressed out and isolated at work and home was even worse. Nowhere to relax and decompress, so everyday just piled on more. I was more of a puncher than a cutter. I think I even cracked a few bones in my knuckles. Eventually my roommate and I got separate apartments and that made all the difference.

Watching Firefly again sounds like a sweet plan. I still haven't listened to all the director's commentary! (Yes, I'm hanging my head in Browncoat shame.)

Just stick with us here on Serenity.

Glad to hear you had such a good time on your date River. You should definitely do it more often. Laughter and fun are great cures for many of the ailments life throws at us.

"War Stories" is my favorite episode. I get a bit choked up several times throughout the episode, but most definitely at the end when Mal is staring across the sands at Serenity. I love the music score for the episode too. The music really conveys the tone for the episode.

I just woke up and now I have my very own Mother of All Hangovers! I think I dranked that whole bottle of wine because its sitting here empty!!! Oh well, I had a good time, but I didnt make it to the last Firefly DVD.

That was the best birthday I've had in 6 years, so thanks a bunch people. Also, I left my computer network on all night and I think some creepoid hacked into it. So much for a triple firewall configuration.

Say, whats wrong with the clock on this board? Its says I posted this at 22:30 or whatever and the current time here is 06:36 in the morning. How do I fix it so my posts show the correct time?

Time to get some coffee.

River

P.S. AERIN, just replace the normal emotioncon word smile with the word cheers.

This board comes out of Hawaii, I've never quite understood the time notes here.

Thank you. I'm at work right now and my head feels like some mean kid, with a big stick is smacking me over the head over, and over again. I think it is a wise thing not to drink for a while.

Say! I saw this morning on itunes that the whole Firefly series is up for downloading into the video ipod!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I can't wait to get home! I would download the whole thing here at the office, but I left my ipod at home. Drat and double drat!!!
