Me and the Missus just got back from a little mid-week getaway to Reno NV. I couldn't help but notice, while sacrificing coins to the Gods of Luck, how many video slot machines these days are based on old TV shows -- Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, I Love Lucy, Bonanza, The Addams Family -- and Science Fiction properties like Twilight Zone, Aliens, and even Star Wars(!) (Kinda odd, seeing the "Family Friendly" Lucasfilm stamp on a gambling device...)

Lots of these incorporate sound and/or video bytes from the old shows. It all got me thinking; wouldn't a Firefly/Serenity themed Video Slot Machine be a natural? Think about it:

Five Mals straight across gives you "I do the job, and then I get paid."

Five Zoes and you get "At last, now we can give up this life of crime."

And five Jayne's gives you a random-number multiplier bonus round to the tune of "Ten percent of nuthin' is -- let me do the math..."

Line up five "Hard Burns" for the progressive jackpot...

I dunno, maybe I just didn't get enough sleep this week. But the Firefly 'Verse, with its emphasis on risk and cashy money would seem to be a natural for Vegas/Reno. Anybody else like the idea?

"Never tell me the odds!" -- Han Solo

PHOENIXROSE

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Hah! I'd play those machines til I went broke! (or got rich and could retire and give up my life of crime... )

I'm with Phoenix - I'd play that until my pockets were empty. You could always try mocking one up yourself and trying to sell it on Ebay - surely some crazy collector would want that little gem.
