Not sure when the price dropped, but might be a good time to make a few purchases for gifts for friends and family (maybe some converts) or possibly to obtain a second copy to use as a loaner dvd

Also, cheap enough that some people might be able to buy one copy now and another on June 23rd or September 30th (Serenity Day, etc). Remember, it doesn't matter how much you spend, Universal sees the same amount from the sale whether you purchase it for $12 or $20. So, a little browncoat thriftiness doesn't hurt at all.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Do they really see the same amount? That don't seem fair if some places are just gouging on things.

One summer.
One mission.
One legion of Browncoats.

Starting June 23rd, we aim to misbehave.

Not quite sure what's unfair about it. Universal sells the DVD to a distributor that turns around and sells the DVD to a retailer who sells it to you. The distributor and retailer (frequently, as in the case of Amazon, they are one and the same) are free to sell the DVD for whatever price they choose. If it's unfair to anybody it's unfair to small retailers that can't act as their own distributors and therefor have to pay a higher markup to get the merchandise and hence can't afford to deep discount like the big players but that is a very old argument and not specifically Universal's fault.

Yep, it also depends on what one considers price gouging. Most places don't charge above the manufacturer's suggested retail price (msrp), although (in my estimation) this price is usually quite inflated. But also, is it really price gouging when so many people out there seem so willing to pay the higher prices when they could save a lot of money by simply doing a little price comparison? They can charge whatever they want. In a free market, we are not under any obligation to pay the higher price though

Universal may lower their profit margin at anytime also. This lower price on Amazon (and at Target apparently - as posted in another thread) might reflect a lowering of the initial cost to these retailers.
