I'm sure this has been discussed and I've just missed it, but does anyone have any realistic idea of just what it would take to get Firefly back on the air. It's seems to me we're a fairly resourceful group and between the whole lot of us we've managed to make great inroads into converting others to Firefly...so I wonder precisely what it would take to get Fox to play ball. I mean if F/X is out there stumping for show concepts...they're obviously not full up schedule wise. There has to be a way to get the parent corp to accept Firefly on a sub network on cable or something...what do you all think?

You're only young once, but you can be immature any time!

I don't know about anyone else - but I don't think we will get another show. Maybe a couple more movies.

Bottom line is the "money men" have to be convinced there is a profit.

So we need Browncoats - VOCAL Browncoats.

Very well said, FMF. It really is a question of convincing the "powers that be" that its worthwhile. Fortunately for us, I'm pretty sure that our show/movie's creator, writers and actors would continue to be just as good as ever (maybe even better) than before...unlike some other fandoms that got worse with revival *coughStarWarscough*

Mine is an evil sugar high laugh! Bwahahahaha!

PS- no offence to Star Wars fans out there (trust me, I am one myself) but Episodes 2 and 3...not that impressive when compared to the originals, in my way of thinking

I have not been in the 'verse very long, but it seems to me after spending WAY too much time browsing through this forum, the Browncoat board, and the Prospero board, that this topic has been discussed many, many, many, many times going back to the original cancellation in 2002. And, the sense I get, is that, while a return to TV is highly unlikely (as much as I would prefer that), the chances of sequels to the BDM are more likely, given the right numbers. What are those numbers? Nobody knows, but I think supporting the BDM offers the best chance of seeing the BDH's again.

I think the major problem is not the willingness of the cast and crew to return to TV, but lies in two areas: (1) the tangled web of TV rights, which still reside at FOX, and (2) the ability to make money from the TV show which has a fairly high production cost.

it is true, the subject has been discussed in hundreds (at least) of threads...
and frankly the subject will continue to be discussed for many more years (unless or until we get our BDS and/or a new TV show)...

Joss is a relatively young man and has plenty of time to continue the series on the big or small screen.

Personally I anticipate that in another 2 years we'll get another movie.
And within 5-10 years there will be another TV show...
And then the fans will all complain that it isn't 'canon' because it isn't exactly like the original 13 episodes.
People will create websites denouncing it...

Thank you all for the ralistic approach. We can't get anything done without seeing the real picture. At the same time our common bond as BROWNCOATS is holding on to the faithful notions and ideals that only dreamers are allowed. If there is anything I can do to get the show back on or get more movies made, I'll do it. Though defeat may be on the horizon, My back will not turn to it. I will meet it headlong with a big smile on my face. Whoa. A bit of pent up anger. Think I'll take a break.

Just because it seems unlikely does not make the fight worthless. I introduce people to Firefly and Serenity as much as possible. I have bought multiple copies of the series and movie to give to people.

I will continue to hold the line, regardless.

Blessed be RBC. I too hold at least three copies of each for "presents". I will do the same out of love. Fight on BROWNCOATS, fight on.

Well, you can always take part in the June 23rd and Summer Campaign efforts - the more sales and visibility we have, the better our chances of getting our BDHs back.

One day.
One plan.
One army of Browncoats.

On June 23rd, we aim to misbehave.

Yep. I think I am Ticket #1 for the Raleigh charity screening and I plan to buy a DVD on the 23rd too. :)

that's a spooky crystal ball you've got there Embers... i'm flipping my Tarot cards and guess what... we've got a match!

really, i think you are right with the movie - and hopefully the tv also... but i think you really nail it with the complaint thing.... if it takes 10 years to bring back the show to the tube, IMHO, it just won't be able to capture the spirit of the original... but who knows.. it might be even better....

I still think with a serious and joint push we could get one of the fox subsidiary networks to pick up the show. This would take care of the thorny issue of fox holding the rights and they don't need the same level of ratings to be considered a success in a cable network as you do to maintain an on network show. Also, syndication through fox could be possible...
