River (I mean Summer) is one of the 4400!

Just a shout out to any of you that have seen the 4400 second season. My brother just bought the second season on DVD. I agreed to watch a little since I had seen all of season one. So there we sat watching the first episode of season 2 and then there she is! Summer Glau once again doing the remarkable job of playing insane. It was like seeing River in jeans, in a cell like room with no Simon. Her chrarcters name was Tess. Her performance was of course very different from that on Firefly, as it should be. But there were Riverisms to her performance that made me smile and recall those little moments on Firefly. Her big eyes looking haunted, her babbling on and knowing there was a purpose to her being there, of being one of the 4400. She was abducted schizophrenic and returned that way as well. It was nice to see Summer again and if her performance called up some skills that mirrored River, why should I complain, I'm a Browncoat after all.

So tell me!
Does she have just a bit-part in the 4400?
Or is she a recurring character?
What's her total screen-time?
(still obsessed with Miss Glau)

She appears heavily in the first episode of the second season (Wake-Up Call) but isn't a recurring character for the rest of the season. News is that she'll be appearing in a few episodes during the third season, though, so we'll be able to see her as Tess Doerner a few more times.

And Wake up Call was a two-part episode (2 hours).

Her character was very memorable. I hadn't even watched Firefly yet when I first saw her on the 4400 so I didn't even know who she was. I just remember her character and how heartbreaking it was at the end when Kevin, her only friend there & who is now cured, was leaving. And she has lost hope and was just staring straight ahead.

Now I remember her character. I really liked that episode. It also had Crazy Eddie in it from First Wave.

Question. Why are all of Summer's characters either crazy, a dancer, or both? Fascinating, no?

I too had seen the 4400 before firefly or serenity. When I saw Serenity for the first time and saw that River was crazy I immediately went oh man that's the girl from the 4400! She's so good at playing the crazy girl. Her performance was awesome. A few weeks ago I dug up an old blank tape and to my delight it had this episode randomly recorded on it. The scene where the main character is interviewing her is very reminicent of the River Tam sessions...I couldn't help thinking to myself "wel this guy's far smarter than Joss...he's standing behind the plexi glass" lol. The best 4400 ep to date I think. I'm also glad to hear she's gonna be in the 3'rd season again.

My wife just got season 2 as well. We found out that she had auditioned and was offered the role of Lily. Unfortunately, she had to film the BDM instead. If it hadn't been for Joss's meddling, she could have been one of the regulars!

I think I'd rather her be River than Lily. I don't really see her in that role. Besides, the actress that does play her has done really well.
