I remember how bad I felt when shows I loved, like Keen Eddie, Wonderfalls & Dead like Me were cancelled (I caught Firefly just before the movie). But lately I've been on a winning streak. Shows I like last couple of years (Lost, Grey's anatomy, 4400, Monk, BSG, Supernatural) have been getting good ratings or at least good enough ratings for renewal.

I was smoking drugs back in those days too so quite possibly it wasnt as good as I thought.

No matter what you were on or how young you happened to be this is still a funny ass show. One of my favorite moments is when Hammer is trying to disarm a nuke, he utters his catchphrase, then the city is destroyed. Somehow the captain is still alive screaming, HAMMER!!! Doesn't get much better than that.

Monksdad:

Just stay away from Medium.
I love that show and have hopes it will continue for a long time.

In truth nobody is a jinx. They pay producers outlandish amounts of money to ruin great programing its insane.

I have seen plenty of excellent shows go down the tubes.

If they don't get immediate returns they cancel shows before most people even learn about them.

I only saw a portion of one episode of Firefly and before I could see another it was gone. Thank God for DVD's. At least we have that.

You didn't happen to like Wonderfalls did you?
If you get a chance see this show. I don't think I have laughed that hard in a long time. This show is really funny and imaginative.

I hate when the execs cancel good shows!!! It does always seem like it's the one you liked too. My most favorite show at one point was Special Unit 2(an awesome show where monsters are real!), I was simply devasted when they cancelled it. They replaced with with Jake 2.0 or something crappy like that...I was simply devastated. I can imagine the pain of losing Firefly of any veterans here 4 years ago...The pain of that loss is just settling in for me now. When Dark Angel was cancelled...that was another blow...it was also my favorite show for a while. It makes me so angry

I was going to say the same thing...

GAWD...i swear I was mopping around today thinking the same thing:

Arrested Development
Firefly
Coupling (uk version)
Sports Night
Earth 2
The Critic

What is sad for me is often I discover the shows well past their prime...

Argh!

Warren Ellis' Global Frequency - did not even get the chance to get cancelled. It was rejected but the pilot episode was leaked into the p2p networks. Would have been a great show.

Alright, I can't resist. I've been eyeing this thread and trying to make myself stay away, stay off the soap box, avoid my rant...

Nah. Not possible.

EVERWOOD -- my very favorite TV show, the only one that I like better than Firefly. No one has mentioned it, as far as I can see, and being a super-in-love and still-mourning-its-recent-cancellation fan, I had to add it to this list. I love that show so very much and it should never have been cancelled! :(

As someone else said (sorry, I forget who it was), most people who watch TV don't have any taste. Thus, TV schedules get filled with loads of garbage and mindless "entertainment". Anything that has superb writing, originality, well-developed characters, heart, character (i.e. Everwoodand Firefly)... that all gets cancelled. In the meantime, all of the crappy stuff that is a copy of some other piece of garbage stays on the air.

While I'm at it, let me throw in a mention of Sports Night. It was a highly funny show (very witty) that also got canned.

So far, the only truly great, well-written, intelligent show I've ever watched that has lasted is Gilmore Girls. How it survives, I don't know. Maybe it's magic.

Edited: Hey, I didn't do too bad... I think I did still manage to avoid the "I-miss-Everwood" rant.

Great pic Razputin! Millennium was another great show which got run into the ground. Although it could be argued that the writers had something to do with that. Not that I'm complaining since I enjoyed all three seasons.

I think you guys have said most of mine. But Wonderfalls, Dark Angel, Tru Calling, Dead Like Me, and hell, even John Doe. John Doe was the show that originally showed me the stupidity that is FOX. and those are just the ones I can think of now.

In DTI there's a fan quoting how this show acted as a lightening rod for everyone's anger about television, I agree with that statement. I think we're all so fed up with the network execs that we need a show like this to stand up, and to quote a song, say we're not gonna take this anymore.

EDIT: I feel for all of the Everwood fans out there. I didn't watch the show myself, but I respected it and it's fans, and for it to be cancelled while 7th Heaven stays alive is insane.

Personally, I've fallen in love with Veronica Mars. It's an amazing show with great characters, writing, plot, etc, and the critics keep saying so. But for some reason, the people don't watch it. So the vm fans were anxiously waiting news about renewal, and may only get 13 episodes this season until the CW pulls it.
