SAVEWASH

Now I am learning about scary.

Hi, GoramnNewbie, and let me be the first to welcome you! I really think you'll like it here because we love to endlessly discuss our favorite show and everything related to it. We're glad to know you have your priorities right (definitely watch those episodes and enjoy every shiny moment) and glad you decided to join us. Post often and tell all your friends about this wonderful phenomenon that is "Firefly/Serenity."

FollowMal should be along soon to give you your own shiny browncoat and it might be better to wear that one until it gets a little colder where you are. We don't need any Browncoats passing out on us, unless it's because of the mudder's milk. (You'll probably get offered some of that, too.)

Again, welcome!

Welcome home, GorramnNewbie !

Better late than never, huh? And it is the best show ever made. We love it.. I can tell you do too.

SaveWash is right, you might want to wear this virtual 'coat until you get a mite colder where you live.

*hands GorramnNewbie a browncoat that fits and is just the right weight for the weather*

Yes, there is a followup! All summer long we're having the Summer of Serenity with shindigs, letter writing campaigns, lots of stuff and cons too.. they are the shiniest. There is no plans to contact Fox, but plenty of chances to contact Universal who helped us get our BDM... including a Big Damn Thank You on the anniversary of the release of the movie, a little something we're calling Serenity 'Versary.

Have you seen the charity screenings all around the world of the BDM?( Big Damn Movie) There might be one close to you that you can attend.
A chance to see the BDH's up on the big screen and to do good works at the same time.

There will be others along to welcome you, FloralBunny has the very finest strawberries.

We're glad you're here.

Gorramnewbie welcome. Been in this from the beggining and have to tell you sometimes it's a hard fight but it's a worthy one. I've just been suggesting other ways to help promote the upcoming events on the Local TV thread, hope you go read it and get some ideas. I used to give out the Mudders Milk at one point but circumstances kept me away from that job, however, for nostalgia's sake...

Mudders Milk: All the vitamens and crabs of your mothers best turkey dinner; plus 15% alchohol.

Mind the rug.

New to the verse. Been lurking awhile. Always thought my mother was the only one to use crabs in the turkey dinner. Planning on going to the Atlanta showing of the BDH.

Ya I know, I noticed the mistake *eeeee* Well mailman welcome, and since you pointed out my obvious spelling mistake you get TWO pints of milk.

Mudders Milk: All the PROTEINS and CARBS of your mothers best turkey dinner; plus 15% alchohol.

Ya, been awhile since I gave any out, plus I may have been dipping into it a bit.

The Atlanta showing? Be sure to read the Local TV thread for ideas on how to spread the word.

Welcome here, we're weird.

Fox has gone on record saying that they will not stop anyone else from picking up the series meaning that my limited knowledge of laws against false advertising, combined with the lack of fine print, says that the series could come back if anyone wants to make new episodes.

Unfortunately no one does.

On the movie front is it more simple, but still not looking good. Get people to love the show, get them to buy the movie, which you'll want to pick up yourself. Joss won’t give up hope, but unless he gets a call from universal saying they want another movie that doesn't mean much.

We need to make them think it's profitable to make a new one. We need to convert people, we need to up DVD sales and we need to make noise.

A lot of people seem to be giving up just because it looks like a lost cause, the thing is it has always been a lost cause. We got that series from the lost cause, we got a movie because we believed unreasonably in that lost cause.

We've done the impossible (trust me on this, that movie was impossible, but it happened), and that means we're stubborn unreasonable people who don't just give up because we don’t stand a chance in hell of winning.

We've done it before, they took the sky and we took it back, they stopped us from flying but for two hours on the big screen there we were, still flying. We can do it again, just have faith, just believe.

Spread the word.

-

On a different subject here you will find ... something special, shiny if you like, you'll find people who love what you love, people who will take you in, who will listen to what you have to say and care about you as well, you'll find people who will be there for you, you'll find a family, and you're a part of it (like it or not.)

Welcome home.

Welcome home, GNewbie (#21374) and MManx (#20656 -- where ya been all this time?)
Yes, we are weird.

The coats always fit, thanks to FM and her virtuality.

I'm all for crabs in the Thanksgiving Dinner, but
possibly that comes from living at the shore.

We also have lots of lovely strawberries just hanging there, ripe for the picking. I've been out since early morning, loading up on the things, and here's a big bowl of them.

Shimmerwine is in the fountain at the far end of the buffet, should you tire of the Mudder's brew. Wife soup in the kettle, nearly done.

Spread the Firefly love!

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome aboard GorramnNewbie! Glad to have you here with the rest of the Firefly / Serenity faithful. Make yourself at home.

Trust me when I tell you that we exhausted all avenues with Fox, hereafter known as the Devil Network. Joss shopped the show around to other networks, but the stigma that the Devil Network put on our show by cancelling it and mismanaging it insured that no other network would touch it. So, we had to settle for getting the DVD set of the series. We busted our humps to sell said set, which got Universal to greenlight the BDM (Big Damn Movie) "Serenity" which you should definitely check out if you have not already done so.

Now we are focusing our efforts on the Serenity Now / Equality Now screenings and the Summer of Serenity drive to sell the special Hell out of some movie DVDs and get us a movie sequel.

The best thing you can do for the cause is introduce the show and the movie to every single person that you know. Get them watching and get them hooked. Once hooked get them to buy the DVDs. The Powers That Be are only interested in the bottom line and that means sales figures. We sell enough we will get our BDS (Big Damn Sequel).

So, get out there and start spreading the word. Keep flyin'!

STILLSHINY

Greetings, and welcome. There's always talk of more. There is strong possibility of another comic (graphic novel) series. Of course you'll have to be sure & see "Serenity" the movie as well. Not to mention the necessary viewing of any & all commentaries & special features as well as watching in all the available languages...well maybe not so much the latter. The fine line between fan & fanatic is meant to be crossed.

Shiny!

Welcome MAILMANx, we're glad you're here.

Looks like you've gotten in on the strawberries and other goodies. New folks arriving really bring out the best in folks around here.

You need a browncoat..

*hands MAILMANx a browncoat from the storeroom*

Don't forget to spread the word about Firefly... to get some more, there has to be many more of us and they have to see we want more!

There are many things to take part in over the summer.. I see you are going to the charity screening near you...YAY! I am trying so hard to coordinate getting to go to one in K.C., which is the closest for me.

The DVD buying drive is good, and we'll likely have more of those after the initial one on June 23rd. Then it's a whole Summer of Serenity full of shindigs and celebrations and ....cons. Lots and lots of cons! Right now we have a list of all that shiny stuff under Browncoat Events on the front page over to the right.

Talk often.. we love to talk with others about our favorite subject.
See you around the board.

I know this has probably been discussed before, but wouldn't it be a good idea to decide exactly what we want, and who we want it from, and focus our efforts on it. Sure, it might want to wait until after all these screenings and such, but I think we should join all of our efforts together.

Personally, I think our best option is to get the sci-fi channel to do a mini-series. A series is a stretch even Browncoats may not be able to reach. But sci-fi is known for mini-series, and it would give Joss Whedon a chance to do a big plot, with time to do some good character development.

Just a thought.

A Sci Fi Channel Firefly mini-series is one of the best ideas I've heard so far to bring Firefly back!

Well I'm going to stay positive, the Serenity Versary is going to send a clear message, the film will be deemed profitable, hopefully they will look at the trend between cinema and DVD sales and think "you know what I bet a series would make a shed load more money now", then we will get another series, and I will run around like a maniac for 2 weeks straight, grinning and yelling "SHINY!!".

It has to happen, that's what we browncoats are all about, holding on when everything seems useless.
Make our dreams come true people, otherwise we will all end up tortured just like Mal, and nobody wants that (well okay I bet a fair percentage would, but still...)

FollowMal, hey you! Did you ever receive my message? Did 11th ever get to see my stuff (as she's an artist who does such lovely work, I'd be really interested to her reaction to some of my vids).

Hope all is well,
