I live in North Carolina and this 4th of July weekend, there is an event on the coast near a town called Moorehead City where these old wooden ships have sailed in and are open to the public for tours and such. It is called the Tall Ships and it is a pretty big event. Anyway, there was a race for some of these ships yesterday and the ship named "Serenity" won the race! Here is a link to an article about it on a local news website. It is kind of short, but it does have a nice little picture and video.

All I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by.

Great looking ship and a great name! I know Moorehead city. My buddy lives there. We used to go there all the time when I lived in Youngsville just North of Raleigh.

Thanks for the link.

America loves a winner!

And I'm glad it wasn't called ' The ' Serenity, and instead is just 'Serenity'.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

I live about an hour and half from the Morehead City/Beaufort area. I would have gone but there was lots and lots of traffic. It's been covered a lot by the local TV stations and newsmedia.

I was lucky enough to spend a summer as an historical interpreter (actor, basically) for the Elizabeth II State Historic Site in Manteo, NC. They have a replica of a 16th-century bark as the crown of their site, and we learned to actually sail it in the Pamlico Sound...talk about fun! I have always had a soft spot for tall ships, and this was a real treat.
