It's a music video I cut to Breaking Benjamin's "Diary of Jane" as a tribute to my favorite character on Firefly, Jayne Cobb. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did watching the show and putting this together.

Comments/ratings, as always, are greatly appreciated.

Excellent job. The music was raw and showcased Jayne very well. Thanks for posting.

...I can't exactly watch the video because I still suffer from dial-up. But I keep hearing this song on the radio and had the same thought: Diary of Jayne. Yay!

I LOVE IT!!!!! OMG.. I think I just fell in love with Jayne all over again. I would love to put this on my MySpace page with your permission of course, i wont be completely crushed if you say no. ok i will be but i gotta tell you thats probably one of the best Jayne videos I've seen. I've been dying for a video like that to come along.

Does it make me weird to have fallen for a fictional character? Never mind I dont think I wanna hear the answer.

AWESOME!!!

ONEMANSHORT- I Love your Sig images! I wish I could make them.

Great job Dopeyname101

Don't think I'm seen the details of the series or the BDM any more clearly than on your Jayne diary.

It had better not be weird - most of my fantasies revolve around Jayne at the moment ...

I second DQ's enthusiasm! I loved it - hadn't heard that song before but it was perfect and the editing must have taken you hours!! Thank you for sharing - you made my day!

Very nicely done. Good pacing, good editing, good story flow. I like.

Thanks! I'm good to know that I'm not the only one. Sometimes I even wish he was a real person. Where's a plank when I need one?

Thanks again DOPEY!

Extremely well cut. Hats off to you. If you get bored and wanna experiment, there are some spots where audio clips could be added in. But it might not work, that's the joy of editing - you can make mistakes!

Again, nicely done.

Rather than a traditonal "storyline" type video, what I was going for here was more of a character arc.

Act 1 (intro to the start of the second verse) -
Jayne as we all remember him - crude, rude, muscled, big guns, women. The man, the myth, the legend.

Act 2 (2nd verse and chorus) -
Jayne's darkest hour, betraying Simon, River, and the crew of Serenity on Ariel.

Act 3 (Bridge to end of song)
Jayne's redemption. Start off small, showing his human side - remorse at a funeral, caring for Kaylee, protecting Simon and River - and move to the coup de grace, the toppling of the statue in Jaynestown, signifying Jayne's realization that he's not a hero. Just a working stiff, like everyone else.

That's what I was going for, Did anybody really get that from watching the video?

Oooo... that makes it even better. i didnt think about the whole story arc but I did think alot about the ending before you explained the story. Sorry...I'm a bit slow. But I still love it!

Have to say, I missed the arc of it. But I was distracted by the whole big sexy man with gun thing...

I'm definitely someone who thought that Jayne would redeem himself - I've always thought his 'betrayal' was more of an instinct to protect his crew from the (still) outsiders - and possibly get Kaylee back from Simon.

Hey DN101 - I did not overthink it to that extent, and I think that's what most artists (and creative people in general) would like to hear! But despite my not overthin' it n'all I did go through a series of emotions which, on reading your above description, makes perfect sense! I was all 'Yeah! Woo - that's pure Jayne right there' - then ...'Oh this is dark... bad Jayne' and finally 'Now that's the Jayne I know and love...' so there you go - it worked without me studying it, analysing it and submitting an essay on it - unless you count this as an essay ... which you could 'coz it's long enough!

you know what I mean! Love - Magdalena x x

I didn't notice this until the shift between Act 2 and Act 3, but I definitely saw it after that shift. Well done.

I've been a long time lurker here. But I couldn't resist responding to this. I had posted something about this song just earlier today in my LJ.

All I can say is... Shiny. I like it!

And I'm glad to know that I'm not the only gal out there in the verse in love with Jayne Cobb. My husband seems to think I'm crazy for it. LOL

Wasn't that in South Park first?

P.S. is that a bad or a good thing you're saying about this?

'We Need a Hero'- Malcolm Reynolds ... I know, I know it's been done to death, but it would be fun!

Suggestions - Johnny Cash 'Highwayman' for Mal

Hendrix 'Little Wing' River

I can probably think of a deal more. There was a thread about songs and Firefly and I drivelled on that.
